Stellar White Air GT
Hello everyone, after lurking in the forum for a couple of weeks I officially became a Lucid owner by trading-in my R1T yesterday. Very excited, I liked my R1T, but I'm just not a truck guy and really prefer Lucid's luxury, sportiness and technology. Taycan and EQS were my other options when considering switching, but Peter's tech serious really convinced me Lucid is the ultimate choice for Luxury Electric Cars. And IMP, Lucid is only "real" EV compare to Taycan and EQS :D

Did you trade-in in aftermarket? I know several Texas drivers want to switch R1T from ICE sedan.

No I traded in in a random and somewhat sketchy dealership. They offered a good price for my R1T and their Air GT is in a good condition (~3700 miles). So jumped on the deal.
Looks like previous owner gave up on 1.2.6 and didn’t bother to drive anymore. So you may need to set up profile, Lucid account, and let Lucid knows ownership change to push update. I don’t know what else you might be missing aside OTA update. But if you get to service center, they will figure out for you.

Yes, the car has been sitting in the dealership’s warehouse for 3 months. I did transfer the ownership through lucid and the car is linked to my account.

Nice. Congrats. Lots of folks here on the waiting list for a Rivian. They may have questions for you.

Meanwhile, plenty of good knowledge about your new Lucid to be had here. Welcome.

I have an R1S preorder along with a Touring pre-order. Leaning heavily to the Touring tho.

What was the interior noise level on the R1T like compared to the Lucid? Obviously the Lucid has a nicer interior, but how was the R1T compared to it?

How about software, how was it on the R1T since they're also a new company?

Lucid has much better noise isolation.

In lower speed: R1T drivetrain can be noisy (clunks when start/stop), noise from air suspension. It feels like they intentionally didn't isolate much noise from the drivetrain/bottom of the truck. I don't hear any noise from the Air except from the motor, which sounded really nice compare to R1T's squeaky motor noise. One thing I don't like about the Air is the steering wheel makes some noise if you put force on the center part. But it's manageable for me, and I don't noticed it anymore.

In high speed: wind noise is way more noticeable in R1T. Wind noise started to pick up dramatically in my R1T after 60mph. I don't feel much wind noise even at 90+mph in the Air.

In terms of software, Rivian is definitely doing a better job than Lucid. Everything is buttery smooth, but the Air has better cameras. My Air is still on 1.2.6. Let's see how 2.0 does.

Bottom line is they are totally different vehicles. The R1 platform is probably the most capable of any cars, it's the holy gray of traction management. It can take you anywhere you want to go. But the Air is the ultimate luxury EV, and the luxury stems from driving dynamics, efficiency, range, build quality, technology. Not just nice Nappa leather, although they are really nice to sit on :)

Lucid has a fix for this by inserting some felt spacers in the steering column, let the service know that your steering wheel creaks and they will take care of it.

Welcome aboard! .. we're in the midst of getting the 2.0 version updates; should enhance the software experience quite a bit.

My wife has a R1S reservation (since early '21) .. still no word as to when we may see it. How was your R1T as far as range goes? The Air seems to be doing very well so far (much better than the Model Y we used to own), but w/ less range than the Air, my wife's concerned about how much mileage she'll be able to get in real-life conditions.

PS: Like you I considered (and tested) the Taycan and EQS. Not even close (and really didn't like the EQS styling)... enjoy your Air.

Thanks! The range is on par with EPA estimation when driving in conserve mode. But obviously nothing like GT/DE's 500+ miles range. After switching to the Air GT w/ 19'' wheel, I basically forgot about I'm driving an EV, such a nice feeling!

Agreed. Even w/ the 21" wheels, it's been a pleasure to not have to worry about range.

If you’re on 1.2.6 you should talk to customer service and get them to get you up to date (1.2.21) as that is many versions behind, and you’ll need to get ti 1.2.21 before you eventually get 2.0.

How is Lucid the only “real” EV compared to the EQS or Taycan. Both of those vehicles are phenomenal EVs with their own tradeoffs just like the AGT.
A very valid question.

Maybe he meant by Pure EV auto motors company like one of these…

Tesla, Lucid, Rivian, Polestar, Canoo, Fisker, Edison Future, Aptera, Lordstown Motor, Faraday Future, Sono Motor, Rimac Auto, Proterra, Lighting eMotor, VinFast…..

I was initially leaning toward the Rivian , but after months of mental gymnastics , decided the Lucid would be a better fit for me. I am glad I did.
That being said, I drove my friend’s Rivian and oh man , it’s special too. I really really hope these 2 EV manufacturers have long term success. Their products are superb.
The biggest advantage to the Rivian is it’s winter and off-road capabilities.
I still wonder if a Rivian is in my future, as a second full EV. Now I am just thinking out loud.

Can you wait for Lucid's Gravity?
