New OTA?

I guess I must be one of the rare fools that still knows how to get places not using navigation, LOL šŸ¤£
Should I be embarrassed to admit that I still keep maps in my cars? There is something about having detail options at my fingertips without needing a computer to send me off on a tangent somewhere... or have the ability to go off on a tangent because a detail pointed me that way.

All this diatribe is getting way too personal. I am 55 as well.

I really enjoy driving the car. I just drove it from Charlotte to Chapel Hill and around Chapel Hill without charging and was quite happy with that. Made it home with 75 miles left in the bank, so my range on that last charge was around 400, maybe a little less.

The NAV just sucks, period. It had me going all different ways and actually lost the car at one point, had no idea where the car actually was. Just quit using it and used the phone, kinda like music. Tidal did not work, so we went to Bluetooth and SiriusXM. So, yes, software does impact the enjoyment of the car, but I seriously hope that changes, sooner rather than later. Lucid really is ā€œon the clockā€ though to get the software into a better state.

The NAV system is laughable. Tidal is unusable. But the car is seriously fun to drive.

I donā€™t know why cell providers use the 4 bar system these days. Anything at 2 or below you may as well just assume you have no coverage. Lol!

I was actually referring to the indicators on the right screen in the car.

this place has become a bit too toxic for people who believe in calling a spade a spade.
How is it that @MoniputerLM, @HC_79, @CLTGT, and others that have made terrible comments about Lucid and continue to do so have not been burned at the stake for their heresy at this temple of Lucid? Is what they are doing not calling a spade a spade? The issue causing this toxicity isn't calling a spade a spade as others have strongly called out Lucid for management decisions, lack of transparency, state of software, hard fails, soft fails, material choices, QA/QC, fit & finish and lack of adequate service. Some were rather harsh.

I have seen the tone of several people turn 360 degrees here.
I assume you meant 180? 360 is a Full revolution, which means They'd still be Going in the Same DIRECTION (maybe the Random CAPS will help get the message through. If not, go take it out on a Redditor who questions you too...)

What I've noticed is you need 3 bars for Tidal to work, if it drops to two or forbid one bar it fails and can't connect to server. Need much larger buffer.
For me, if it drops from 4 to 3 it stops.

Yup, hope those hiccups are improved in the next few months.
Today, I had my brother in law, who is a state police officer, drive the car. Since heā€™s a cop , I felt pretty safe when he floored it and we were going 100 mph without even blinking an eye. Seriously fun is vey accurate!!!

Yes, itā€™s a cell service in the car so uses the exact same tech that is in our phones. If itā€™s a 2 or below good luck getting anything to work properly. I have 2 bars on AT&T and Verizon at my house and still need to use WiFi calling for a reliable service so I donā€™t expect the car to be any better when itā€™s showing 2 bars or less.

Compass, too? :)

Oh man. That reminds me of this (like way back in the mid to late 2000s):

Here's what I would suggest @Sam6062 . For those of us who are 57 years or older all this software DOESN'T make the car. Try turning it all off and DRIVE THE DOORS OFF.
Damn! I miss this age bracket. Iā€™m 52, I missed giving myself a real nice BDay gift at 50. So this was the make up gift. I have faith the software will get better bc people often told me how great Tesla is, but it was different story when I borrowed to drive or when I Turoā€™d it. What I saw was software lagged out then blacked out screen to reboot on me few times.

This is my first EV, I have no regret owning this car over Model-X or Model-S in my own research and decision making. I will own few more EVs in coming 2-3 years, just not Tesla yet. I donā€™t like how Tesla is always being compared to bc not many EVs were out there in previous years as reference point. I respect Elon Musk for pioneering this market so we can enjoy green vehicles, Iā€™m exited so many brands of EVs are coming out.

I must sayā€¦Iā€˜ve never minded driving my Yukon on the highway until now. But the Air tracks so beautifully. After driving the AGT for a few weeks, I get into the Yukon and itā€™s all over the road! Lucid, youā€™ve spoiled me.

@CaptainLysol :

- Give it till end of this week to contact CS if you dont' get 1.2.185
- Other issues: Did your DA set them up for you? Or did you do it? Irrespective, I would suggest you unpair your iphone (BT first & mobile key right after) and try to reset it back again. If that also fails, call CSR
- Black screens: I got it in my early days. CSR will need photos (pfbly) with timestamps. See if you can record it safely while driving the car & report back to CSR asap.

Good luck.
Thank you ā€¦ Iā€™ll see what happens in a day or more. I will unpair iPhone to see if that corrects the issues. Seems that if I have both my iPhone and key fob in my pocket (or hand) that the Air is totally confused as to which device it should respond to. The Air will usually ā€œwake upā€ if I approach with just the key fob, especially if that is how I last locked the vehicle.

Thanks for suggestion on black screens. Usually have my phone in the onboard charger but Iā€™ll see if I can manage to get some images. Most often it relates to surround camera when parking or backing out of garage.

As noted, before, however, the Air is awesome. And I so appreciate the collective wisdom and experience of this group.

Same here! No service from T-Mobile in our subdivision.

Compass, too? :)

Nah, Interstates are odd running north and south, even running east and west. Suns always south, LOL

Tell me about it! Try driving the Air then get in a drive a Toyota Tundra!

I assume those are for LTE? Although they also reuse them for wifi, which is admittedly confusing.
They use the universal icons for cellular signal and WiFi signal as depicted in the below example:

I needed the Nav around Chapel Hill as I have never really spent any time there and we were staying in an entirely different area than when we dropped my son off 6 weeks ago. It was funny though and I really had to laugh. I was in the parking lot picking him up Sunday am and put the hotel address back in to take him to see his mother. For some reason, the two roads out of his dorm area do not link to the main roads, so the NAV had my taking U turns in the parking lot and going around in a circle. Luckily, we only did that once, but it was funny. The time on Saturday it did this, it lost the car and had me in some neighborhood when I was in downtown Chapel Hill. My wife was not impressed. Luckily, she just went to her phone.

Iā€™ve had much better luck with the navigation lately, just takes a bit for the satellite view to load but then I just leave it on it and it works quite well. Of course I donā€™t use it with Alexa cuz we know that will cause mayhem. But yeah Tidal is borked. Iā€™ve found the biggest problems happen when switching from an Atmos track to a non-Atmos track, it will just stop playing the display says itā€™s playing, then it wonā€™t respond half the time you try to skip to the next track, etc. But this time Alexa will save you, you just ask Alexa to play whatever and it does, then go back to Tidal and it will work again. Tidal wasnā€™t trouble free in my old car, but overall it is a mess in the Lucid as far as reliable performance goes.

Iā€™m in my Yukon doing similar road trip from San Diego to Dallas I did in the Lucid. New tires and alignment it tracks fine, didnā€™t spend anytime preplanning route and fuel stops. I have SirusXm, and can take detours on unimproved roads. Otherwise the Lucid was a lot more fun. šŸ˜
