Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Grand Touring

I believe it is a bug in the app, I can only see that data upon first login, and if I do anything such as simply minimizing the app and then bring it back to the top I am presented with the Welcome page. Note I am using Android. To get the latest I just signoff and then login again. As stated the updates are very periodic and I can't seem to force an update so it's not at all real-time. But kinda fun regardless. It should be noted I never hit any remote access button.
Well I got pushed an app update overnight and they fixed this loophole, it was fun why it lasted.

Hopefully I stop getting the Lucid app has stopped working message...again

Talked to my DA this week after sending an email. I saw that 20" wheels are not available yet; he confirmed not likely until Dec or later. I changed the order to 21" wheels (19" wheels are fugly IMO :) ) which was confirmed via email. Maybe it'll move it up? Maybe not.

I am currently waiting for the 20 inch wheels. I don’t mind waiting until January… Not only are the tires better in my opinion but it also gives them another six months to iron out a lot of the bugs and software issues that are discussed elsewhere in this forum.

Waiting for the 20" wheels, if that's what you want absolutely, sure. That is 100% reasonable & understandable.

But to assume/hope the software will be cleaned up, I don't think so. As evident, all around us (Tesla, Rivian, etc) , software evolves, and the new version brings about its own set of bugs. The current set of bugs may/will be rectified by Q1 2023, but the next software iteration will bring about its own set of issues - and customers waiting for Q3 deliveries will say the same.

Apparently there is no consistency in order priority?
I placed my $1000 deposit way back on September 9, 2020.
I wasn't invited to convert my reservation to an order until March 24th, 2022 (which I did immediately)
Still no VIN.
Maybe because I live in Kentucky...not a hotspot for electric vehicles. A little puzzling that the Lucid board decided to give out performance bonuses for reaching production milestones.
Who’s your DA? What have you been told if anything? Mine took just under 8 months from reservation to delivery.

Well my car completed its journey to Null Island (see last nights post) and as of this morning was back comfortably resting in Casa Grande (even though it still appears 180 degrees rotated). I am just guessing some software update push made it echo 0,0 coordinates for a bit.

Then my curiousity arises again late this afternoon, and behold my car has woken up (no longer asleep Zzz) and is in Park, lost some charge (was 258 mi), warmed up a lil (had been 95), and appears unlocked, and most importantly has been moved to what may be a car hauler slot.

So now I am even more curious so I watch for a lil bit, and things happen, loses a couple more miles of charge, warms another degree, and gets locked, hmmm I say.

Now I have to keep watching, will it soon start moving out of the lot with all its peeps that it has shared stories with for the last week, "Grey, you should see how big the waves are at Null Island". Nope, you got too much information already, vehicle offline. :D

Only time will tell if Luci is just playing with me or are deliveries actually starting to happen again after this week long pause of missing car haulers (or a mandated delivery stoppage as discussed in another thread, or a possible 21" wheel issue mentioned here - my car is 21s).
If you keep honking the horn maybe that be an incentive for them to get the car on a hauler and out of the lot.

Might as well pass along an update while I'm here

So do we that so why we jumped in..... I'm fully confident that they're going to take care of the situation correctly I'm just concerned how they're going to be able to rectify the situation because it's not just one panel I probably would be more comfortable if the car was returned to the factory and not done by a local situation but we'll have to see how it turns out
Well the general update the car is in service being reworked whatever that means in the meantime they've offered me a rental and pick up all associated costs we're anticipating delivery of the vehicle they say in approximately 2 weeks.....

Picture courtesy of @Pwmac from this morning. We did a quick flyover this morning to look for his car. I believe that we may have found it.

It does not look like any cars shipped out over the weekend since the Bear's photos. Also not many employees working on a Sunday morning. The employee lot was fairly empty.

It does look like they moved some out of the lot but again, just a snapshot in time, they may have moved more and replaced them with new ones ready to be moved?

Who’s your DA? What have you been told if anything? Mine took just under 8 months from reservation to delivery.
In early April I was "promised" my VIN no later than the end of May by my original DA. Last contact with my 2nd DA was way back on June 22nd at which point I was told they were no longer going to give VIN updates "due to the variability in the production timelines." I understand the supply chain issues plaguing the industry. What I don't understand is how people that placed their initial reservation last fall already have their cars while I have been waiting for 23 months.

Confirm date is what matters, yours is March 24. You should get a VIN soon as they appear to be catching up, after a long delay, on the Greys. I am using the Lucid definition of soon, meaning anytime from today until the VIN arrives via email. You should have your car in October, like many (most) of the March confirms.

Deposit Dt applies only for the call to put in a reservation/confirmation.
Reservation/Confirmation Dt takes over after that.
If you reserved in March, folks are getting their VINs around this period of time. (There was work stoppage, cars produced based on color, etc.).
VINs have been assigned as early as stamping and cars are still delayed to supply chain.
Bears video is good 'metric' of the cars being produced; and members reporting here about VIN assignments, shipment, etc ..

If you see folks getting a VIN earlier than you, it could be they were open to changing their options (color, wheel size, pick up location, etc.) and a cancellation occurs.
And no, there is no logic, to who gets a call if & when a cancellation happens & who gets called. We have speculated, among many things, location could be a factor. Again, IDK for certain.

G'luck.

What are the specs on your car?

to calm people down, lucid should explain that they batch colors during production. it would help people understand why some later confirmation holders are getting their VINS before their early confirmations and leapfrogging them. some got lucky picking a color scheme that was getting produced; right time right place type of thing. easiest way to explain without getting into critical paths and such.

a general statement like "our factory is currently producing X color. Z color batch is scheduled for _____" would go a long way.

It would go a long way to making reservation holders even angrier, maybe. Or worse, it might get tons of people wanting to switch their color, only to push back other colors even further in the delivery schedule.

And what happens when a week before you're supposed to start Red, your paint supplier suddenly tells you they can't deliver for another month? Ooops. Guess we have to tell the red people they are going to have to wait until after we do another batch of Grey. I could just see the threads in this forum for that.

Sometimes with customer expectations, less information really is better. Particularly when things you don't completely control are constantly shifting.
