I test drove a GT in Seattle yesterday…

The longer they hold off the test drives, the less engaged the customers will be. At least for me, I’ve gone from potential 2 purchases down to maybe one.
Given how restrictive the hands-on exposure/experience to the customers, how does Lucid expect to reel in buyers? Buying a car is not an abstract exercise IMHO.

Short Hills allows it. I called and told them I have a Touring reservation. The person I spoke to initially said demo drives were restricted to GT reservation holders but she checked with her manager, called me back immediately, and now I’m scheduled. She said their test car is a GT.

Interestingly, she said the GT includes thigh supports that are not on Touring. Was this previously known?

About the thigh support, that is not what my advisor told me. Only massage and something related to seat ventilation (backseat?) is missing.

The same person didn't know that Touring reservation holders are now eligible for test drives, so it seems (unsurprisingly) that not everyone at Lucid is on the same page. To her credit, she was super polite and got back to me immediately. Hopefully we'll find out in the coming weeks.

Between Touring reservation holders being allowed to test drive, and Grand Touring reservation holders having until June 30th to confirm for the old price, this seems encouraging for Touring production.

I am scheduled for my test drive on Friday. Was told the same thing by a SA when they announced the grand opening of the studio here near Denver. I told her I couldn't make the grand opening, and she told me test drives were starting July 1st for Touring reservations, if I wanted to schedule one.

I'm still fairly convinced their plan is to start Touring confirmations in the first few weeks of July. With actual production starting shortly thereafter. So the earliest folks may still get their Touring orders by December.

It certainly would make sense for Lucid to be able to say they are "now producing" Touring orders at the end of the year, at least. Even if the first deliveries end up being January.

I think this makes sense in the context of the recent scramble to get Touring orders to upgrade to GT...which I declined and I expect many others to. They are likely coming to the end of GT demand

They let me do a test drive back in April... I'm not sure if they were supposed to or not, so I won't call out the location, but it seemed like it was a regular thing they were doing, since I didn't ask - they offered.

What I'm more interested in though, is when they're going to have a touring model for us to actually see. They said that certain materials would be different on the interior, and I'd like to see what all that is.

They told me since a couple weeks ago they were reaching out to touring reservations for test drives on a regular basis. Also had a truck arriving today with 14 cars so some people are getting delivery.

Millbrae is one of their larger delivery centers. They need to be getting a truck of 14 a day during th 2H if Lucid is to get close to their production numbers.

if the $9k DDP upgrade gives me blind spot display, physical lidar installation, and improved DD ADAS performance and precision, i think it'll be a no-brainer for me. i asked my SA about this and we'll see what she says

I replied about this in a different thread, but my SA confirmed that blind spot detection and highway assist was included in normal Dream Drive, pro not necessary.

And as for me, I think we'll be multiple years out for Dream Drive Pro to have actual any self driving features, and by that time, I'm thinking I'd probably sell my Lucid for the Gravity anyways

Our Lucid delivery date was recently pushed from 3rd to 4th quarter. I'm thinking the reality is sometime 2023.

is it possible that your SA got the display (on screen) and warning light confused?

ok, my SA called and i asked her this. she asked her supervisor and they went through some documents apparently and clarified that the blind spot display will be on DDP only, since cars with DDP will have more cameras installed (i assume this means cars with just DD will only have the blind spot indicator).

she also said that the lidar installation will not improve any of the existing ADAS system/software. so now, i guess the question is, is the blind spot display worth 9k, since the lidar won't be used at all until their "level 3" driving comes out.

That's too bad. You can get a Honda Civic with a blind spot display, but it's possible to buy a 100k Lucid without.

Realistically, I'm happy with the blind spot indicator on my unremarkable Mercedes. And having used the 3D surround view on a new Mercedes on a recent vacation to Europe, I don't feel the need to pay 9k for this sort of thing.

Don't forget the 360 camera view, which is also DDP only. That one is worth more to me than the blind spot display.

These two features are supposed to standard but they aren’t which is a shame actually.
