1.2.6 OTA Out

They definitely listened to customers for some things, like increased fan control. I am. I am not sure customers were clamoring for navigation updates over things like CarPlay and Highway Assist. Though, it will likely be appreciated.

Yep, all those nav features go out for iOS users as soon as CarPlay is added. But I guess they need it? I mean, do they?

Honestly... these updates... wow... A lot of things were just crossed off my list. I assume one of the nav options that they updated was the voice control for Nav (volume). When it does release, I hope to see updates from owners here!

This looks like a huge win to me for updates.

Yes! The NAV stuff is a lot of what everyone was asking for. Cannot wait to finally be rid of that useless AIR Logo!

It’s a good day in the Lucid world!

Yes because not everyone uses CarPlay

Any idea when it will arrive? We're leaving this weekend for our first big road trip in the Air, and I would welcome some improvements in the Nav system beforehand.

I wish I can see the improvement. Major stuffs?

Agreed.

It’s also likely different software teams working on android/CarPlay integration and the native nav app.
Everyone keeps talking about CarPlay, but does any version of it now integrate SOC into the maps? If not, then for EVs native NAV apps are still needed unless everyone just uses ABRP and plugshare. The charger filters and preferences for EA are a good step forward because Lucid can query EA for charger status already.

Yes. From Apple:
The Maps app can help you plan trips that include stops for charging your electric vehicle (EV).
When you get driving directions, Maps can track your vehicle’s charge. By analyzing elevation changes along the route and other factors, Maps identifies appropriate charging stations along the way. If you drive until your charge gets too low, you’re offered a route to the nearest compatible charging station.
Note: Electric vehicle routing requires a compatible vehicle. Refer to the owner’s guide for your vehicle for compatibility information.

if the in-built software is good enough, i see no reason to use CarPlay or Android Auto. i have a feeling that CarPlay won't stay free forever. Once Apple get enough users/car manufacturers onboard, they will move to a subscription service where only paying users would benefit from CarPlay.

I don’t see that happening.

What will happen is if CarPlay gets really, really good, as this next generation appears, it’ll convince more people to buy iPhones.

I think early on BMW tried tying CarPlay to some sort of subscription themselves. And people revolted.

IMO that's bit different. what i foresee is Apple charging users money for using CarPlay capability (and not car manufacturers). The most recent example i could think of is Apple News. When it was first introduced, they were offering contents from a lot of different media outlets for free. Once they gained momentum pretty much all articles were subscription only.

I don’t see CarPlay going to subscription at this point. Too much competition from other free services like Google Maps and Waze. I do find the service to be really excellent. It is particularly good for texting by voice while driving.

Only if screens don't blank out.
I don’t know. Everyone, including myself have been anxiously awaiting a long overdue update. It’s here, so let’s stay positive and take the win. There will be many more, including updates to fix updates. This is the journey of a new car manufacturer.
