Homelink Triggering On Its Own

It does sound like Gravity software as the root cause is a high probability. I hope everyone is submitting to swfeedback with vin and timestamps. Intermittent problems can be very difficult to diagnose.

To those who have experienced this, are you triggering homelink via the custom button on the steering wheel or the menu on the screen?
For me it’s the custom button that seems to start to close the garage door, then it will stop and reopen. Or when opening it, it’ll just stop in the middle and sit there.

I've had this happen twice recently. I'm not sure if I can pin it down to the Gravity though. I have a Liftmaster 8165 with a ratgdo board attached. I can see when the motors and doors move via the ratgdo, but I can't tell what triggers it. Might be time to set up the RTL-SDR to see if I can correlate a remote triggering it.

Just had a phantom trigger happen to our car as we were pulling out of the driveway. The garage door closed on the car and caused damage. We're waiting to hear back from Lucid.

We only ever use the on screen buttons, don't have an additional opener in the car and didn't have any of the smart garage opener apps on our phones. I've since installed the app to pull logs but they aren't as helpful as I would have hoped. AI tells me they show the closing wasn't triggered by the app. Will see what Lucid's telemetry shows.

I would highly recommend to stop using Homelink if you care about the car. I paid extra for the install and now I'm worried Lucid will hide behind their warranty carve out (which I learned about after he incident).

After spending $200 on the Infinity Shield because I was worried about this, the Homelink has functioned flawlessly. Belt and suspenders to the rescue, but I think its coincidence

What kind of garage door opener do you have? And what app pulls down what logs?

I believe it's a liftmaster. I installed the MyQ app after the incident. It shows a history of open/close events but unfortunately doesn't show any kind of sending device ID.

Phantom braking, phantom homelink... I'm starting to see a pattern... 😂

happened again to me today. Accidentally nudged my key fob in the garage, car woke up and opened the garage door by itself with nobody inside the vehicle.

How does Lucid not see that this is a major issue? Are they going to cover the damages/consequences of this happening?

Happened to me twice.
I hope you file another report to Lucid.

Saw the ghost response only once about 3 weeks ago and sent the feedback. I have since implemented a no compromise solution to avoid smashing the car. I raised the garage door object detection beam sensor on the Gravity side of the garage to about 19 inches and left the other at 6 in. This detects the car even at the highest suspension settings. Since I have a California door that swings outwards I still have about a 4 foot zone I try to minimize my time traversing and opening the trunk while parked in the garage requires a rag over the sensor.

Happened twice, to me, where I have the fob in manual mode (not proximity) and the garage door goes up about a second or so after pressing the driver's handle. If AI is correct, failed commands cache and can remain through a sleep state and execute upon wake. It also said a screen reboot wipes any cached commands, if they exist. This is among the first things Lucid could communicate about, or affirm. I assume going back to a remote stops the behavior, and that it only happens when recent homelink commands fail / accumulate. The issue doesn't rank much, but will be brought up at the first visit.

Consider an infinity shield: https://infinity-shield.com/

I also bought this but not sure if it will work with my situation.
Depending on the season, sometimes I would have to stand outside the garage and cast a shadow on the signal receiver so that the opener will close.
With the Infinity Shield, I don't know how to block the sun light for the whole array on the receiver.
This is why I haven't installed it.
If anyone has any thoughts/advice, please share.
Thanks.

You can swap the receiver and transmitter so the sun doesn’t shine on the receiver. It’s not in the instructions, but I did that and it works perfectly fine. Turn the array “upside down.”

I've had other Homelink issues, but never this, in the 10 months we've owned it. The auto open & close feature by geofence was discontinued before we ever got it, so I never experienced that. I will say that geofencing seems suspect, as it usually displays the full list of programmed garage doors when I back out of my garage. I've also seen it display the wrong garage doors when driving up to mine.

I commented in a similar thread how I wouldn't want to have Homelink automatically open / close gates and garage doors on approach due to us having a couple big dogs. Here's how that opinion was formed.

We had a powered gate installed across our driveway. Ironically, the owner of the fence company that installed it lives a few houses down from me. That'll be relevant later. They used a subcontractor for the gate controller. Our garage door opener is LiftMaster, so that means we had two remotes, LiftMaster for the garage, something generic for the gate. We were having issues with our kids forgetting to close the gate when they left the property. Or so we thought. They always denied it. Whenever the gate was left open we would have to scour the neighborhood looking for our dogs. Biggest concern being that a lot of folks in the neighborhood have little purse dogs and my dogs have zero tolerance for the yip yap. There would be casualties. Some of our arguments with the kids about leaving the gate opened came to the edge of impending violence but of course never crossed that line. This went on for about two years.

So I'm sitting on the deck one day on a video-conference. Thankfully it was a staff meeting and not a client call. My dogs are chillin' on the porch next to me. My gate opens. I instinctively just blurted out "What the f...". The call went silent and I looked back at my screen to see everyone staring at me. I explained what had just happened. So I walk down to my fence company owner neighbor's house and tell him (for about the 20th time) that the gate was opening on its own and that this time I had proof. Turned out that the contractor he had install the controller used the same RFID code for every controller he installed. I took that controller out, put in a LiftMaster controller and moved on. One remote, one app, and total system reliability.

This thread is pretty timely, I was debating the home link upgrade for my Gravity. I may wait to see how this plays out now with the software.
