New software update for Gravity - 3.5

Perhaps they chose not to roll it out on a Friday, after all.

Anyway, it's a matter of days away, not months. I do not understand how nobody seems to have anything else to do, lol.

I'm gonna go back to smoking a delicious brisket.
I’m going to try to write this thoughtfully because I know you don’t appreciate criticism, but I’ll admit I’m frustrated. You talk frequently about how we need to be patient, positive, and kind on this forum. But you can be a bit of a bully here in your own way, and I wonder if you ever bother trying to square that with—from my perspective—methodically shaming, gaslighting, and dismissing the community if anyone raises an eyebrow when Lucid missteps like they have in loudly announcing a date for an OTA and touting an overdue feature only to give no explanation when no one gets it. And look, I’m sure there’s mild annoyance from owners that they have to wait slightly longer, but come on you know most of us don’t care about the update itself. I wasn’t not smoking a brisket, but I was in the kitchen cooking this weekend—and I’m not stressing about waiting as long as needed for the next update. But anyone who owns one of these cars has an interest in whether this company that keeps telling us it has its act together and is changing for the better is going to back that up with its actions. So when Lucid behaves the way it always has, it feels like a red flag, and I don’t understand why this is not a safe place to identify/confirm those missteps and lament them. For those of us who want Lucid to still be here in 5 years, this kind of communication failure (how easy would it have been for nick to say “sorry everyone, we found a last second bug that needs to be fixed and go back through validation. It will be slightly delayed”?) lets the community down because there’s a disconnect between Lucid’s mission and Lucid’s execution, and when they don’t have anyone to blame but themselves, it’s like watching your team score on its own goal. So, if it’s possible to do it respectfully, then I respectfully want to state that although I appreciate your work here on the forum, I don’t appreciate the way you consistently downplay and discourage legitimate, fair criticism of Lucid’s various failings in customer relations and quality assurance. I believe we can be fans while simultaneously not pretending that a misstep is not a misstep.

+1 here.

It’s not the update itself that matters. Lucid made a huge announcement and it failed to deliver. It’s okay to make mistakes but no communication following the delay is unacceptable.

I don’t dislike criticism. That is simply untrue. I have been corrected plenty, and do not claim to be brilliant, correct, or omniscient. I seek the truth, not to win an argument; that is always true.

You are seeking a pattern where one does not exist. I am responding about an OTA being delayed by a few days, not about “everything that has ever occurred,” and you should not read it as such, as that is not what I mean.

I have never shamed, gaslit, or dismissed the community. And certainly not on purpose. If you have examples of me gaslighting or shaming anyone, please provide them and I will immediately apologize and delete them and be accountable. But without such examples, this is libel, not criticism. And people love to lob accusations without examples, based on how they feel.

And look, I’m sure there’s mild annoyance from owners that they have to wait slightly longer, but come on you know most of us don’t care about the update itself.
If that were true, then the content of those posts would not be “where’s my update,” and I would take less issue with them.

It sure is. I’m not happy about there being a delay. I am not suggesting Lucid didn’t fuck up by announcing and not releasing. I don’t think I have any other words to make that any more clear.

I am, in addition to that, saying I don’t think it’s that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. If you disagree, that’s fine. You’ll note I haven’t deleted a single post. Your opinions are yours to hold and share, just as mine are mine. And we are both more than welcome to share them.

I agree. I have said dozens of times I’d like to see Lucid stop stepping on its own feet.

That is not what I am doing.

I also fully believe in calling Lucid on their shit when they deserve it, as well as bringing logic to an emotion fight when it’s needed.

If you’re curious enough, you can find hundreds of posts of me saying Lucid needs to improve in various areas.
Here’s an example of a thread I think is a much bigger deal: https://lucidowners.com/threads/gra...and-time-in-service.13316/page-18#post-334119

The leasing wear and tear nonsense was another, which happily seems resolved now.

As another example, I was literally just about to post that my wife’s fobs have failed to start the car twice since 3.4.4. Today was the second time and it really upset her; the fix was removing and replacing the battery (resetting the fob). Am I happy that the Gravity suddenly has fob issues for us again? Obviously not.

You are more than welcome to hold your opinion. But I must also be welcome to hold and state mine, even if my opinion is that people are making a mountain out of a mole hill, in this specific case. You do not have to agree with me. That is not one of the rules for participation in this forum. In fact, you can argue with me (or anyone else) as much as you’d like, provided there is sound reasoning and not ad hominem attacks, which I also try never to engage in.

This, I agree with, if it is true that nobody has received the update, which definitely seems likely.

On the plus side, more people have registered on Lucid Tracker :p. When it does start to roll out we'll be able to get better stats on the rollouts progress and how quickly its going out to the fleet etc.

Thanks for the reply—I appreciate the time it took to respond. When I posted, I did not realize there were multiple 3.5 threads where you were being taken to task by other members of the same issue. I stand by my words, but I am sorry that the timing probably made it feel like you were being piled on, and I know that never feels good. I’ll send a follow up message to you directly to avoid junking up this thread since this isn’t really about the 3.5 update at this point.

Could you share the URL for the tracker? TIA.

Thanks. Is that like a manual tracker, where people register and then report manually the latest update they got? It currently says "1 of 103 vehicles updated" and there are roughly 15k Gravities out there. (It's a rough estimate - no need for anyone to jump in to correct the math. The point is there are thousands of them and tracker says "... of 103 vehicles")

No, you login with your Lucid credentials and he automatically reads your current version.

Technically, it's an option; some folks do have it set to manual updating because they don't want to put in their creds. I don't know what the split is.

You can manually update or the site can automatically sync the info from your Lucid account if you opt in for that. To be honest, the manual updating by people is hardly happening but I also don’t want to force people to use automatic syncing if they don’t wish to.

It’s an enthusiast site similar to this forum. Not all Lucid owners are on this forum just like they’re not all on the tracker site either. I’ve tried to build it to provide stats and other useful information to adopt engagement but it’s really only something an enthusiast is probably going to be interested in.

Surprisingly it’s about 50/50. Hence we see the progress bar start to slow down when it hits the 50% mark.

It is interesting to see how the demographic is skewed to the longer term early adopters.

Is there data to see any trends of OTA rollouts? ie DE's first, or location (west coast first), etc. Knowing Lucid's organizational skills it's probably just a random number generator.
