New software update for Gravity - 3.5

I don't think Lucid would have said it was rolling out if they didn't intend to roll it out that day. This a damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Most of the Gravity owners who aren't on this forum (all 3 of them?) are not anxiously refreshing their phones and writing Home assistant routines to watch for the update. They are doing normal people things like playing golf or tennis or working. Its just us techy-types waiting for "It's Here" on a post!

I, for one, will be happy that we get 3.5.1 or 3.5.2 rather than a troublesome 3.5.0. Or, that they fix the servers pushing the update. I would certainly rather have my Ferrari (a guy can dream, right?) delivered a day late than have it on time but they forgot the key.

Frustrating, but I'm good. Dream Ahead!!!

Just curious. Has anyone confirmed that they have received the update yet? I noticed that it was being rolled out yesterday but have not noticed anyone commenting about it.

There has been no downloads on the tracker, either.
 
When Apple says an update is available, I can almost always download it after the press release. This looks like a stunt for the Lucid Investor Day, which was 48 hours ago.

As usual, Lucid timelines are this way since inception. They have audacity of displaying to media and simply brush it off under beta tester which is not industry standard. I may be wrong in my understanding it only Lucid does this or others two.

One other thing in the investor call they stated lucid delivered 13 ota updates last year and industry average is 2. It is true but they are comparing this with worst scenario like saying better than legacy. But compared to other pure EV players like Lucid, they are in the last. There presentation looks glorious on paper, but scraping under we can see too many cracks. Like they are number one in their segment which is true, but there is a cost to it( cheap lease deals and there sales are 85% leases).

I don’t think I’d call a stunt… I’m sure they will roll it out as soon as it is ready.

I agree it’s not a stunt but the fact they did a whole press release on it, announcing a rollout date etc. and across a number of social platforms not one person has reported getting the update it’s just not a good look. You can see the tone shifting in this thread from excitement to slightly annoyed. Lucid can be its only worst enemy at times. 🤦‍♂️

Perhaps they chose not to roll it out on a Friday, after all.

Anyway, it's a matter of days away, not months. I do not understand how nobody seems to have anything else to do, lol.

I'm gonna go back to smoking a delicious brisket.

I have no skin in the game on this. I hate CarPlay and won’t use it unless I’m absolutely forced to. You’re right, it’ll probably start showing up next week so it’s not by any means a deal breaker. The bigger issue is not just related to this update, it’s a pattern that Lucid continues to do. They say something is coming at a specific time and then they miss the mark.

3.5 has generated the most excitement I've seen since I joined the forum if I'm not wrong. Somehow I'm having a hard time seeing it... It's an update that brings parity with a feature a Corolla has available in a bigger screen. Does our bar goes so low when we own a Lucid? Sorry for not sharing the excitement and expectations... 🙂
 
I guarantee you that Lucid is not doing this because they feel that including Car Play will improve the car. They are only doing this to drive sales and attract some of the “I will never buy a car that does not include Car Play” crowd. I would much rather have wanted them to use their limited resources to further refine their well layed out dual screen native software.

Also, for all of those complaining about Lucid Native navigation and screaming for Car Play ability to use Google Maps, it is my understanding that when Lucid goes to implement NVIDEA’s point-to-point ADAS later in the year, it will most likely only use the native navigation and not be able to access Car Play. One more key reason why improving native navigation is way more important that any Car Play implementation.

Not all of us simply want it for Nav. There's much more I use it for that is a PIA and I have to pull my actual phone out to do (which isn't legal to do while driving in our state) and CarPlay would be a tremendous help to us who use it for things like this.

If Lucid had implemented Google maps, had more options for music streaming such as Apple Music and YouTube music then CarPlay or Android Auto would be less of a necessity. I’d rather have Lucid work on implementing PAAK. But since they don’t have those streaming options, CarPlay and AA are a necessity.
 
Exactly. Apple Music will be awesome to finally have with onscreen controls. Messaging will be nice...Waze will be nice... I mean, if it's free, why would anyone complain about getting this? Just don't use it if you don't like it. But I agree the software based makers (T,R,L) probably would much prefer to build their own systems and not use CarPlay, but as mentioned above, some people demand it.

Agree, this was the first time I received an email promoting a software release. Don’t announce it if it’s not going to be released. Beta testing should have been done before the announcement.

Native Apple Music app would have much better sound quality and full Atmos capabilities vs what we will get with Car Play.

To be fair, I am not complaining about having this and will probably use it at times. It is just that if someone had asked me “would you rather have a native Apple Music App and improved Navigation (comparable to Google Maps) or would you rather have Car Play” , I would say “give me the native apps.”
