My Polestar is in for a CPU upgrade. It's been 8 calendar days (car was in service for 30 in April, so I'm experienced in this...), so I called to see what the status is. I was told that it is still in line for diagnosis. Apparently, according to service associate, they like to have cars on hand 7-10 days prior to expected service date, so if one or two take less time than expected, the tech won't have to wait for the next customer to get their car in.
Seems like Lucid's approach, as so many of us have written.
So, I'm looking for even a little sense to be made of this. To be clear, I understand if they have loaners up the kazoo and it isn't money out of pocket for rental cars. It seems, however, that many of us rely on rental cars that are paid for by Lucid (or Polestar). Probably not by the dealer, as we all know, but by the manufacturer.
So, Lucid paid $83 per day for my rental recently. Having 7 days of cars available for the tech, that puts 7 cars being rented to not have a tech waiting? If so, that is roughly $560 per day for rentals, with the average rental being for 8 days (presuming each car takes a day for actual hands-on service, which is faster than my Lucid and Polestar have taken). So, to keep it simple, over $4K to keep the rep busy for a day. And, for a car that is drivable, I have to drive a Ford Bronco instead of my GDE?
I don't get the math or the concept. Please help!
