Gravity Delivery Discussion

Our delivery appointment today in Tysons Corner VA was a disaster, unacceptable and did not occur.
We arrived at the Tysons location 30 minutes early for our 3pm appointment, only to find three other parties waiting for delivery—one of whom had an 11:00 a.m. appointment. After waiting more than an hour, Nick Wright kindly informed us that the location was significantly overbooked and overwhelmed, and that it would be several additional hours before our vehicle might be ready. Given the uncertainty, the late hour on a Friday evening, and the fact that this was a holiday week in the Washington DC area, we were not willing to wait indefinitely.
What is most frustrating is that this situation could—and should—have been communicated in advance. We drove over 100 miles to get there and lost more than six hours of our day for a delivery that Lucid was clearly not prepared to fulfill. A simple phone call notifying us of the issue would have been sufficient and appropriate.

They've suggested a rescheduled pickup after Christmas. I'm suggesting they deliver the vehicle to us.
Sorry to hear that.
@DKD-CvilleVA, you and I might have crossed paths yesterday at Tysons SC.
I arrived at my exact appointment time of 3PM. Actual delivery was pushed to ~4:45PM!!!
There was no way I was leaving without my Gravity (we took the train from home).

My 6-year-old son patiently waited with me at the mall; lots of aimless loitering.
His only demand was 30 more minutes of tablet-time on the weekend.

Otherwise, profile setup and handover were flawless.
I noticed that the Frunk was slightly misaligned. Scheduled service appointment at end of January to fix.
This car drives incredibly well. When I drove my 2021 X5 to relocate to other side of street, it was very apparent
what a stepdown the X5 was.

Besides the HUD, there is nothing else to complain about; zero key fob or software issues thus far.
I hope the HUD issues (blurriness/focus, limited height adjustment) are software fixable.

Good for you @Gravitas ! You are clearly more patient than my wife :) Glad you got your new Gravity and thanks for sharing your initial reactions.

So far, Lucid is saying they can't arrange a transport of our Gravity to our home before the end of the year. Instead, they're offering $500 credit in the Lucid store and also agreed to pay for a Lyft ride from our home to the Tysons Corner sales center for our pickup (over 100 miles). I'm planning to accept this offer. I want this vehicle before year end!

PDI in Phoenix finished today and I now have a scheduled delivery date: Dec 23. Can't wait!

In San Diego CA here. Mine sounds like it’ll be ready for me to take delivery on Monday the 22nd. I’m getting excited. Two more sleeps before I clap eyes on my brand new GGT!

Congrats! Just got my delivery there yesterday. Everyone at the SC is super nice but just be aware they seem like they haven't really gotten the whole process down yet so there might be some hiccups. Our delivery was delayed a bit and then delayed again on the day of by several hours (including after we had already arrived for our later time slot) because they hadn't done the software updates yet that caused the first delay.

Regarding ride preferences, there is a EPA rule that says EPA mileage will be determined on the default ride setting. If the vehicle defaults to your last setting, then EPA will be calculated on the least efficcient setting.

By having it defaulting to smooth setting, they get better EPA mileage since it was tested in smooth and not sprint etc.

There is a new Gravity Dream Edition in Atlanta available for both the lease and on-premises incentives. Green, 20/21 tires. I wasn't looking for a DE but my new SA brought this to my attention. She also said there not be any new Gravities fully loaded (not DE) before the incentives expire EOY. I Just could not rationalize the lease and passed.

So no incentives for me right now. We'll have to see what Lucid or others have in mind the next few months. Disappointing they built so few loaded cars and almost no cash incentives. Seems like a strange business tactic but they can do whatever they want.

Hope someone can give this car a nice home.

if that's true, then how does Tesla get away with letting me keep the car in Plaid Mode all the time? did the EPA really get 400+ miles of range in Plaid mode?

Maybe I’m missing something, but the odometer doesn’t show anywhere. The entire left side of the screen is blank. Four little dots at the bottom of the screen, to the left of speedometer, but they don’t seem to do anything. Checked the manual and that was basically useless.
The odometer is under Settings -> Vehicle. It'll show on the right side of the Pilot panel, under your VIN.

I agree that it's stupid that it's only there and in the app. Should be on the bottom of the cockpit screen like almost every other vehicle out there. That's on my list to eventually send as a suggestion to the feedback email address.

I haven't figured out how to display any other cameras while parking. I hit the (P) screen and it shows the "straighten out" lines, but no camera view for the parking spot striping. Doesn't the car do that?
What Dream Drive do you have? Surround view is only available in DD Premium and Pro, not the base DD.

My right-side mirror angles down when backing up, but the left-side doesn't. I assume that's a bug.
Nope, functioning as intended. There should probably be a setting to make this an option, but left-sided parallel parking is fairly rare, so most wouldn't ever need the driver side mirror to tilt down.

Congrats to you. I took delivery in San Diego on Friday and am loving the Gravity. Like you, the are all very nice and accommodating , but do seem a bit overwhelmed and bit disorganized.

Regular DD2. I knew I didn't want any handsfree self-driving so I passed on that upgrade. I assumed DD2 would have all the premium car basics but nope, gotta pay extra for that. Not a biggie but disappointing. Wish I had added DD2 Premium now and dropped HUD. Drove it in the sun yesterday, put on my sunglasses, and HUD almost completely disappears. Total waste of money at this point (unless I missed the brightness adjustment somewhere). Annoying windshield glare from the box trim as well.

Mad at myself for even adding HUD now, because initially I told myself it wasn't needed anyway since the driver screen sits nice and high. And for not giving more thought to DD2 Premium. Oh well, 2 mistakes. Stuck with it now.

A follow-up from my earlier post (took delivery on Friday, today is Sunday morning):
• There is no Search function in the on-board owner's manual (or we can't find it). This makes it really cumbersome to use.
• The auto high beam logic is confusing at best, and operation is almost as bad as Tesla's. At least with the Tesla, the logic is straight-forward: you turn high beams on and the car dips them when it sees a car in front or an oncoming car, then reinstates high beams. Lucid tries to do more - you turn on "auto headlights" and the car decides when it should be on high beams and when it shouldn't. So, last night driving home in the rain and fog on a dark country road, the car decided to put high beams on. But, with the fog, that made driving worse. The only "fix" was put headlights in manual-on mode. And then, of course, it delayed dipping to the annoyance of oncoming cars. And then it was spotty when it decided to put high beams back on. We just put the damn thing in manual and used the stalk for high beams, manually.
• Wireless Charging mostly doesn't work with either of our iPhones. Got to get it placed (no case) just right.
• The "Defrost" mechanism doesn't heat the air enough for passenger comfort. Yes, I know the system first cools the air to get the moisture out, but then it's supposed to re-heat that air before blowing it onto the windshield. It simply doesn't reheat that air enough, and we get cold air in our faces. Yes, it defogs fine, but it won't defrost and we're hesitant to use it because for us when it rains it's usually cool if not cold. Our Tesla Model X was similar, so I wonder if this is a limitation of having electric heat instead of pulling from an ICE car's radiator.
• The left side of the IC, even though I put it on "Zen" will constantly change to Energy/Range.
• The DreamDrive Control "pad" (what is it called?) is defective either physically or software wise: In plain cruise-control, it takes multiple hits on up or down to change the cruising speed by 1 mph. Similarly on distance for left/right. The center button doesn't do anything, despite the manual saying it sets/updates the set-speed. Similarly, it takes multiple presses of "X" to cancel out. Brake pedal cancels fine at least.
• It might be software, because arriving at home the HomeLink menu pops up on the screen, but either takes multiple hits, or the software isn't ready to activate HomeLink right away. I'll try to experiment more to see which it is. This is a touchscreen control, so not hardware related. If software, this kind of sluggish behavior for something so simple is pretty bad.
• We sometimes get prompted for the PIN when changing which driver is driving, and sometimes we don't. Haven't figured out any correlation.

Car charged at home on schedule last night, at least. I don't think it reached the full 48amps my Tesla Gen2 WC is set at, but then the car was like 60% full already. Going to try a Tesla SC today.

Definitely agree with that. Was having trouble getting a soft reboot to kick in and was wondering if I was using the correct 2 buttons. Couldn't figure out how to search or where that was in the manual. I know I should read it, but not sure I should have to memorize it.

Ironically "Ask Lucid" didn't know what "Soft Reboot" was either. It did know what "Factory Reset" was, but not knowing how hard a reset that is or how long it takes I skipped that.

Makes me think each Gravity should come with a laminated "Quick Fixes" card, that is tethered to the center console so it won't get lost. Include items like "these two buttons for soft reset", "do this for hard reset", "try taking the batteries out of the key fob then reinserting", "try pushing the button again", etc. Maybe there's an untapped market?

And congrats to you too! I got my post delivery survey from Lucid yesterday, I can't imagine they're going to be very happy with everything I had to say and hope they're even looking at the data from those.

WOW! After reading your two posts after taking delivery, I am surprised you are keeping the car!

Why? @Smorgasbord described perfectly typical Gravity operation, which means the car is as good as it gets with current software revision. Everything on the list is what most owners experience every day and accept. Many smart features are currently half baked and better off being disabled, but we can still enjoy the rest of the car.
