Gravity Delivery Discussion

More complications: Our next Model X lease payment is due Dec 26th, so returning the car before then is different than returning after. I'm assuming each month that goes by reduces the early termination costs, so it might pay to wait until Jan to return the X. We're under our mileage allotment for the X, so adding a 1,000 mile road trip won't hurt, whereas starting with a 1,000 miles on the Gravity may affect us later.
And then my wife just scraped the bottom right corner, damaging some the of the plastic trim, so that will either have to get fixed or deducted when we return the X.
Sigh, nothing's ever easy, eh?
My $0.02 --> when you have decided to take the plunge, just jump in. By the end of a 1000 mile journey with the new Gravity you will be a Gravity expert, and either extremely happy or extremely agitated. Either way there are plenty of lessons to be learned. I vote out with the old and in with the new!

That's my mindset too (unless money is tight, but it usually isn't for people buying $100k cars  ).

I always used to keep cars for 10+ years until they *needed* to be replaced. That's usually the best value proposition, and I was always frugal. Buying/trading cars is VERY costly since they lose so much value so fast. And double that for EVs. But if money is not really an issue, go for it. I am. I go in Friday to pick up my Gravity. I'm 67yo now and it's time to splurge. Sure, I have concerns about the buggy software and fobs/cards, but those things will get fixed (a lot reportedly did get fixed with 3.3.20).

5 years from now loving a "Wow!" car, we'll barely remember the early adopter blues.

Wohoo!! Just got a call confirming & scheduling our Gravity GT delivery for Friday at 3pm, at the Tysons Corner Galleria (Virginia).
We are super excited - what a super Christmas present! 🎉🎉🎅
Lucky you. Hope my call comes soon too!
I took Friday off in anticipation of delivery.

Mine left Chicago yesterday (Tuesday) morning for Tysons, VA.

I chickened out at the last moment, and told my SA today that I declined to take delivery of my GGT. So if anyone is interested in a White/Stealth/Tahoe/5-seat with 20/21 wheels and all the optional packages, Rocklin has one ready for immediate delivery.

I'm not giving up on Lucid forever, but the current state of software is too "beta" for me. I'll consider a Gravity again, once the software is better.
Michael - having just taken delivery - I can say confidently there there are no bugs that matter. You won't be disappointed. And the little ones are just software throwing errors, not actual features not working. And - the latest software update today took 99% of those off the list.

Yes, I have seen the thread about happy owners. Honestly, I do discount that thread a little bit. Not because people are lying, but rather because it's a well known quirk of human psychology that once you've bought something expensive, you're subconsciously highly motivated to be happy about the purchase. As reviewers are uniformly encountering severe software problems, I can't help but wonder if a some owners are minimizing the issues they face, or just accepting that there are features that they won't be using. On the upside, that means that if I do purchase, I'm likely to do the same. But my wife will still be unrelentingly critical if basic functions aren't reliable. It's good to hear some initially positive reactions to 3.3.20 coming out, although it (unsurprisingly) doesn't seem to resolve all issues. I'll wait a few days and see how the mood on the forum seems to evolve.
Take a look at my delivery posts as well as my update. Our cars were likely made within minutes of each, and while that may statistically mean nothing, it could mean that yours was built as good as mine. The ONLY items I've experienced initially (the first week) were some yellow errors being thrown on the dash, but no actual impact to any features. I did also experience the phantom AC blasting when I entered the car. ALL of those items are gone with the most recent update. There are zero software errors or gremlins that I'm experiencing.

My biggest shock is how easily it turns (parking lots, parking, u-turns, lane changes). That is the most mind blowing piece largely because I know it is neck whip fast with amazing high speed handling. It drives like a small car when navigating parking garages and parking lots - no three point turns, no big swings to get into a spot - it just turns and slots in. The rear steering is simply an amazing feature.

Audio amazing, Dreamdrive amazing, road visibility amazing, acceleration amazing, passenger space for 7 amazing. My friend 6' sat in the third row and could not believe how much head room and leg and knee room he had. He was speachless.

The eagle has landed for me! Supernova Bronze/Ojai, 20/21, Tech, Dynamic Handling Pkg
Ordered 4/28/25
Entered Production 10/23/25
Completed Production 11/20/25
Delivered to PHX for PDI 11/24/25
Arrived at Scottsdale SC for final PDI and detailing 12/3/25
Took delivery 12/4/25
I know you haven't had it long :), but how is the Ojai doing? and to you what is the primary undertone color you see? Just curious. I'm considering it as an alternative to Mojave Purluxe Premium.

Yes, a bit more than two weeks for some reason. It arrived at the service center on 12/3 and I was told that PDI should take 3-5 days but it that didn’t happen and then there was the delivery pause because of the update. Not sure why the extra delay, I was offered times on Friday and took the earliest one.
My PDI was over a month for some tail light issues supposedly bc of software.

Ordered 8/14/25. AG, Tahoe, Stealth, all options, small wheels. Picked up today at Chicago SC on Goose Island. Inspected for about 2 hours. Everything seemed to work. 3.3.20 installed. Drove home. Little tighter in the garage than I had hoped. Will make it work. Can tell this will be a much better road tripper than the Model 3. As it should be for the $.

Picking up my car tomorrow in San Jose at 10am.
Car with VIN is already in the App, but I can't do anything to/with it.
2pm tomorrow for mine (Denver). Purchase order signed via docusign, money wired this morning (gulp). My VIN isn't linked to the app yet.

While excited to get it, I was hoping it wasn't right at the end of the year (or any quarter). I always suspect the bar may be lowered on QC just to rush a batch out the door and onto the books when it's the last few weeks. Guess I'll fine out soon enough.

Ordered my Gravity GT November 30 from Tysons in VA. Car was already finished production in AZ. Still waiting for the call. Sales rep said transportation was picking it up Saturday 12/13. Going out of town on Monday morning until after the new year. Will not be happy if I lose all the incentives I thought I was getting that say "must take delivery by 12/31." Probably would just start over at that point. The one I ordered was very close to the combination of packages/colors I wanted ideally, but not exactly.

I was in a similar situation in November: they insisted that I commit to take delivery by the end of the month, I agreed, but then they couldn't get the car ready for delivery in time. If I had it to do over again, I would have been more of a squeaky wheel about it, to put the pressure on Lucid to prioritize my order.

Can't say I'm all that impressed with the delivery experience so far. Delivery was on hold because of the update and we finally got a scheduled date earlier this week but they made it for today to make sure to give the service center time to do the 3.3.20 update. I'm an hour out from my 11am appointment and they just called to ask me to come at 12 instead to give them time to to the update that should already have been done.

Can we just do the 3.3.20 update on our at home if it's not already there, or does the showroom have to install it?

I was told by the delivery manager that around December 11th headquarters issued an instruction not to deliver any Gravities until the update had been applied to them.

As @charleyscott said, when there's a big update like 3.3.20 they put out a service advisory and stop deliveries to make sure it's installed before they go out.

I should have had delivery last week but it was delayed to this week and then when I was allowed to schedule they told me Friday was the earliest appointment I could get so that the service team would have time to do the updates, detailing and whatever last steps they needed. Which is why it's frustrating to get a call an hour before my appointment telling me the car wasn't updated yet.
