In response to my post regarding the software updating without approval, Lucid reached out for more information. Really appreciate that they are monitoring this forum and proactively reaching out to address issues. Will keep this group posted on the outcome!

Agree. They’re excellent at monitoring the forum and reaching out to folks.

In the "should I be worried?" category:

I've had the Gravity for less than a week (*all latest sw) and haven't put too many miles on it yet. However, yesterday morning I came out to an alert that I looked up and it said either airbag or seatbelt pretensioner error. In the manual, it sounded serious. However, it stayed on for a drive and later in the day, it was no longer there and didn't return today.

Today, I got in and it said my "hold" on brakes wasn't working nor was DreamDrive. I took my foot off the brake and the car started rolling. VERY odd. So, same deal. I did a drive and DD would not work. Later, everything is back and working fine.

So...these errors are tricky because I don't know how serious I should take them if they are just temporary or display errors. Both seemed serious enough to contact Lucid but then went away. Hmm.

These were very small to my experience with the car, so far. I'm loving it and it's working really well.

If it was me I would take those seriously. I haven’t heard of those. Another guy did say his brake hold isn’t working either.

We took our other Gravity to dinner tonight and experienced audio issues similar to the ones we experienced last night and this morning in the first Gravity. The differences were that we could bring up the audio menu this time and select the USB stick since the streaming would not work. However, getting back into the car after dinner, we found streaming to again be working, but with a new error: the menu showed Tidal was playing a song by k.d. lang, but we were clearly getting the feed from a Sirius broadcast, which we almost never use and had not any time recently.

We got into the car for a third time this evening as we left a friend's house, and there were two new glitches. For the first time, we got the "arctic blast" with cold air blowing at full force that others here have experienced recently and could only get the temperature within bounds by bumping the thermostat settings up to maximum heat. (It was 73º outside).

And the accent strip lights that had set themselves to bluish-white light on the way to their house had switched themselves back to the orange-ish color we prefer. However, at least that color had dialed itself back to the low setting we keep them on instead of the full bright setting the bluish-white light had gone to on its own.

Driving these cars is like being in a haunted house movie. You never know what's going to jump out of a closer or hit you on the head next.

Please don't watch the OOS review of the Cayenne, it'll make you feel even worse about the Gravities

thats not a good experience.

Please don't watch the OOS review of the Cayenne, it'll make you feel even worse about the Gravities

Hmmm . . . a few takes:

As we need at least one 3-row vehicle, the Cayenne is out of the running for that purpose.

However, with my growing concern that Lucid is going to tank itself over their inability to launch cars with stable UI software, it's a relief to me finally to see another car company that can move the engineering needle on EVs the way Lucid has done in terms of efficiency, charging, and driving dynamics.

Lucid remains the king of the hill when it comes to space engineering, though. Although it was a little hard to tell from the OOS video, the second-row room in the Cayenne didn't particularly impress even though they didn't have to accommodate a third row. Given the age of the people we most often haul around, this is a bigger consideration for me than in earlier years.

I have never liked the styling of Porsches inside or out, and the Cayenne is no exception when compared to the Gravity in my book. However, that is entirely subjective and is something I could set aside in pursuit of engineering excellence in a car.

Also, you can feel the draining away of Conner's prior enthusiasm for Lucid. It was pretty clear at 15:45 that he was taking a slam at Lucid for not managing to get a car to market with stable software. It reinforces my suspicion that he has been deliberately kind to Lucid by not yet doing a full driving and range review of the Gravity (although it also kind of moves him down a notch in terms of non-biased objectivity as a journalist).

I concur. Lucid's ingenuity in space engineering is unmatched.
I'm sure the competition has taken apart Lucid's cars but can't replicate.

Agree! Specially having the option of the 3rd row!

I feel like he did what some food critics do, if they don't like the restaurant they withold the review instead of trashing the place.
I remember he mentioned in another video (Motor Trend?) that he was given one to test and sat in a parking lot for 20 minutes and couldn't get it to start.

Given we have kids at the age where a third row is required in all our cars, as big a second row as possible and lots of storage space, Cayenne wouldn’t be on my list.

I also just can’t stomach the way they price their cars. Yes, they’re great. But not tens of thousands of dollars better than similar cars. At that price level, and just the way the brand markets, they’re too flashy for me. I know that’s odd given we have the Gravity nobody’s heard of Lucid and a load GGT is still a ton less than similar Cayenne.

The pricing is a bit insane for the Cayenne. At least in my opinion, and you know with Porsche ever single option will move the needle in a dramatic fashion. I'm sure you can option your Cayenne so that it cost 300K all said and done.

However, Lucid should take note of this. Their technological advantage is being dragged down by their shit ability to launch new models and support them. EVs aren't considered new and novel any more, not like in the early days of Tesla. You flop the launch you die, unless you got a huge backer to keep you afloat; in this case they do. But EVERY SINGLE PERSON I talk to about my Gravity already thinks Lucid is a goner. Every one of them. They like the style, they like the cars, but no one wants to buy one or own one because they think it will end up being the next Fisker.

You can't win against perception. And right now, Lucid is screwing up their brand perception terribly.

I've been in a Polestar 3 with the B&W system, it's excellent. they aren't the only ones to give it high praise.
I have the B&W in my wife’s Volvo V60 Polestar, it’s excellent, I’d rate it as second best to Gravity SSPro. The B&W adds dynamic characteristics to offset the challenges of doing a car audio system, and it does a good job at it. I think it sounds good but not necessarily honest, like it’s almost doing some sort of dynamic compression or adding a limiter or something. The Gravity’s system doesn’t need to as it’s very even and musical, but yes somewhat hindered by vehicle acoustic limitations. I definitely sound like a broken record on this topic and don’t mean to over-exaggerate my qualifications but my former career was post production sound for film & TV for things I’d guess most viewers are familiar with, so I’m pretty sensitive about issues of audio accuracy. Tidal + Atmos in the Gravity to my ear does a better job of recreating what I myself heard in the studio better than any other vehicle. Most importantly Atmos gives you a true center channel. Lucid’s audio team’s reference system are Genelec near field monitors which is the standard for many editing and recording studios, they’re what we used, albeit the larger mid-field ones but a car is a near field environment so their choice is appropriate. Because of that accuracy, and the apparent lack of meddling with the source by the DSP, it’s true as @borski says that the Gravity (and Air) tend to reveal flaws in inferior audio sources and formats. I also gotta say that while everyone loves the B&W system, and their home systems are excellent, that tweeter is more cosmetic than really good, and their whole thing of giving you processing to create “studio”, “stage” and “theater” presets is kind of nonsense, like zero pro audio engineers would ever elect to do that to their mix.

as long as you're not the guy who ruined Netflix dialog, please continue.

You can play around with the configuration tool on Porsche's site now. That Turbo, priced with all the good stuff and the way I would get it, was 220k. That's not even including the wireless charger which was one of the coolest parts of that, supposed to be like 10k. Crazy...

Compared to others, I have had a relatively decent experience with my GGT's first month, but the continuing (and episodic) software issues have led me to one unfortunate conclusion. Like hmp10, I need at least one vehicle with three rows, and I continue to be patient as what is essentially a Lucid 'beta-tester'. My wife likes smaller vehicles, however, and I had been encouraging her to wait for the Earth. Reluctantly, I will probably now steer her to the Porsche Macan. I recently test-drove a Macan, and given my Gravity experience, the drive was as much focused on stress-testing software/UI ergonomics as it was on handling. FWIW, the UI was pretty rock solid, and online reviews and comments seem to bear that out. I love my Gravity and will stick with it come hell or high water...but Lucid has really missed an opportunity for word-of-mouth endorsements of a truly remarkable vehicle.

Yeah its Porsche, and Im sure you can do some paint to sample stuff too and really drive the price up.

Not to mention Porsche just reported terrible results.

1,000% agree on SSPro and Atmos. I am blown away by the sound at least once daily. I don’t have the experience you do, but did do a number of professional band and vocal records and, as @Bunnylebowski said, SSPro, for me, comes closest to what I heard when I was IN the studio.

My wife wants a sedan as a “third” car and she wants a Taycan solely because of the issues she’s seen and read about with the Air and Gravity. She likes the Air more, but is afraid of lucid. As I’ve mentioned several times, I love my Gravity and expected issues. If my wife ever experienced a fob issue or sw glitch, she’d stop driving the car.

I won’t buy a new Taycan for the reasons mentioned above, but may be in the market for a used one at some point.
