Gravity Bugs / Issues

I liked the video. He mentions software and the low res cameras as negatives.

I did, too, although he said virtually nothing about the Gravity's strongest suit -- its driving dynamics -- in a review titled "First Driving Impressions". I see this over and over in reviews, and I suppose it's an indication of where the general car market is, as most car owners seem to put the driving experience itself pretty far down their lists of key car buying factors. Yet this is the very thing that Lucid focus on the most, along with efficiency (another factor that American car buyers seem to care very little about except during an energy crisis).

He actually liked the ADAS system better than his Rivian's and was generally complimentary about the car overall.

But he said enough about its wonky software to place the review on the growing list of media voices that warn buyers not to expect the software to work properly when considering a Lucid. Rather than washing away the reputational overhang of the Air's atrocious launch software, the Gravity is reinforcing it.

People care about efficiency, they just don’t view it that way or know they do. They care about range. So if you tell them it gets 450 miles, they do care - but they don’t understand how efficiency plays into that. An example would be the big Cadillac EV Escalade Q whatever - huge range, super low efficiency (2.35 from some tests or so), but most folks could care less about understanding the latter. They also don’t take time to understand how charging speed matters. It’s all about range for most consumers.

All true. However, my comment about American car buyers not caring about efficiency except in an energy crisis really applied to the more general buying public, i. e., ICE vehicle buyers.

Ironically, they do care about the cost of energy. But that means they just want it to be cheaper. They don't give a whit about using less of it, which is why the average size and weight of American vehicles has been increasing steadily for over 20 years, why carmakers successfully lobby to scrap efficiency goals, and why politicians get by with hamstringing the adoption of EVs.

Agree... General consumers (and reviewers in this case) get distracted by software issues and grainy cameras before they pay attention to driving dynamics or design details.
And the problem is that, even if bugs get fixed, the videos and Reddit posts will remain.

I posted about our audio system going out last night, including not being able to bring up the audio menu on the Pilot Screen. But we were ready to get home from dinner, so instead of trying a reboot I just figured I'd let parking the car overnight do the job.

It didn't. When we got back in the car today, we had a warning triangle saying there was no network connection. We were sitting in our garage which has a strong WiFi signal from the house, and I had just logged off my computer and know the internet was working. So I tried to see if we could get music from the USB stick, but I could not access it because the audio menu still would not come up. So I tried the X/mic/brake reboot. No luck there. So I called Lucid Customer Care, at which point I found that the phone audio through the car was also down.

Lucid said Service is going to have to get involved. Don't know yet whether it will be a mobile tech or another tow to a Service Center (where this car has already spend over five weeks).

We went for the drive, anyway, at which point I found that the front collision protection which I keep engaged was not working. (I won't go into details how I found out, but . . . .) I pulled off the road and pulled up the DreamDrive menu and found that the front collision protection button was grayed out and would not activate. The other warnings for blind spots and rear collision were shown as engaged.

So another call to Customer Care to have this issue added to the service ticket, too.

@hmp10 did you try switching to a different driver profile to see if music app recovers? That usually works for me.

I had my key fob go dead, after just a little over 2 weeks of ownership.

have you tried putting the fob in a faraday pouch when at home and not using it? not ideal, but anecdotally I've seen it help some. likely there is some communication happening when the two are nearby, even though the fob is supposed to be asleep when idle for a time.

I took another demo drive yesterday as mine is supposed to arrive in a few weeks. is it sign from above that I should wait to get a Gravity when the SA can't get their demo car to wake up for 10 minutes? :) I wasn't in the car because he was just going to pull it out of a tight space, but it was clear he was trying the card and fob, and it was all failing. Finally, he got out of the car and pulled the battery of the fob out and tried it again to finally get it to work. all the regular dance moves.

BTW, those side cameras are super-extra potato. on close inspection it looks to me like they are actually out of focus, not just a resolution problem, pointing to a lens issue. the SA said this particular car was a proto 2025 model so be assured the 2026 were better. OK.

The car was on my partner's profile, as he was first to get into the car with his phone. So, yes, I switched to my profile. Still no music.

I'm more worried about the front collision avoidance disappearing with no warning or notice. Music malfunction is an annoyance. The spontaneous disappearance of a safety feature you think you have is a different matter.

However, we just washed the car. When I got back into it io move it back into the garage, the audio bugs disappeared and the front collision function re-engaged. This was after profile switches, parking the car overnight, and doing a UI reboot had done nothing. The Gravity just does whatever it wants whenever it wants, the driver's actions be damned.

I'm still going to have Service check out the car . . . yet again. I want someone to tell me why we're having so many problems with both our Gravities while other owners are reporting their cars are operating flawlessly (which, frankly, I have increasing trouble believing).

Ah, the legendary 'potato cam' strikes again! 🥔 I got my 2026 Lucid Gravity Grand Touring just two weeks ago, and while I was hoping for a bit more sharpness when turning on the side cameras, it's still the same blurry business. It honestly looks like they're not just low-res but out of focus, like the camera lens took a vacation! 😂 As of now, I’m still seeing more ‘potato’ than 'precision.' Fingers crossed they get it right via OTA!

However, we just washed the car.
Hmm, Gravity likes to be washed, it must be a dog car, not a cat car :p
Adding to the list of workarounds - wash your car, for better or worse ( I know it can make things worse, but might also help)

This car is parked at the far end of a 70-foot-long garage and well away from where I keep the keys in the house. The car doesn't sense the key until I'm over halfway to the car once in the garage.

And, honestly, as I've watched the list of band-aids and workarounds grow over the 170 pages of this thread, I've decided I'm just not going to play that game, especially with two Gravities which often respond differently to different things.

Either Lucid is going to get to the bottom of this software morass they've unleashed on us within a reasonable time, or I'm done with the brand after these cars. It's not where I want to go, but I'm just getting too damned tired of it all.

I get where you're coming from, it can feel a bit overwhelming at times, especially when there's a lot of excitement about the technology, but also a lot of frustration around the reliability issues. Lucid’s approach can sometimes come off as a bit distant, almost like they expect a certain reverence rather than a more open, customer-first mentality. It’s not about offending anyone, but more about wanting a brand that listens and responds in a way that makes you feel confident in your purchase. Hopefully, they can find a balance between cutting-edge innovation and the kind of reliability that builds trust.

I can see other cars or people - that’s all I need. I don’t need 4K perfect focus. Could it be better? 100%. Are there about 100 other issues I’d put before the cameras on a list of priorities? 100%.

Agree it’s not the most important thing, and I’m sure I’ve said this in other threads but- the 4k 60fps G2 Rivian cameras (and the larger on-screen displays that they enable) is the one thing I miss vs the Gravity*.

I do think they make a meaningful difference in the usability of all the various camera displays, including how quickly and confidently I can glance at the blind spot camera and know what I’m seeing.

*well, that at the fact that it actually remembers the color I set my ambient lighting to for more than one drive 😅

True... It's just that expectation are higher than "just good enough" these days. Also, it doesn't help that Lucid's slogan is "Compromise nothing" 🙂

Hopefully, on the agenda of a some Lucid executive team meeting somewhere is an item titled "Naples, FL Customers".
When the item comes up during the meeting, the lead executive asks "So how's our customer in Naples, FL doing with his Gravities?"

Didn't you post about being contacted by a Lucid executive and given an assurance that your second GDE was being monitoring closely through production?
Any follow up since second delivery?

Hmmmm...glad I ordered Lunar Titanium, which now Lucid has informed some of us that production of it will be further delayed into next year and thus give the SW engineers more time to fix issues like these before I take delivery

I confess I have an agenda in posting details about every software burp we experience. I don't want just to keep a log for myself, as there's no real point in that. And I don't want to try to send an email or text to someone at Lucid every time, as I have no idea whether it gets passed along or how much patience anyone there has to hear from me repeatedly.

So I post here, in part to have a log of events should I ever need it, and in part on the suspicion/assurance that someone at Lucid is reading this thread and, seeing enough complaints and seconds from more than one owner when I report something, will feel the need to be sure these events get looked at by someone somewhere.

We all benefit from hearing your guys experience with these vehicles and having it out there for Lucid to take in should they be wise enough to do so...PLEASE keep posting!!!

Here Here!

We stand in solidarity with you and other fellow Lucid owners who deserve an enjoyable ownership experience to the fullest extent possible.

Based on my ownership experience and others, we know it is possible to have a better experience than you've had thus far.

I lift my NACS charging cable in support of you and others!
💯

P.S. I'm watching the new Ken Burns "The American Revolution" series, so I'm on a revolutionary state of mind. 😉
