Gravity Delivery Discussion

I finally took delivery (home delivery) of my Gravity today. All the fear of home delivery was squashed with how impressive the car is. They backed it out, we inspected, I signed, and we went on a 30 min drive around town. It was dark, the adaptive lights was amazing (very quick to sense and adapt), and overall no quirks at all. I am running 3.3.1. I came back home, ate dinner, and the car slept. We then had a neighbor come over and we went out on a longer drive. Overall, we drove 50 miles and got down to 78% charge (from 85%). I can tell you the car is a handful as the front end will actually get light above 70 mph or so as just so much acceleration - intoxicating. We adjusted the settings for maximum of 80% charge to start at 10 pm, wife came out to put something into the car and she called me to garage to let me know the car was now charging (10:02 pm). I humbly join the Lucid family.

I took delivery of my GDE on 9/30. However, I was not able to fully appreciate all of its qualities because I took it to the PPF shop for treatment of the front, hood, fenders and ceramic coating. Saturday morning it was finally finished. I have spent the day inventing errands so that I can drive it. I know that I am preaching to the choir but it is truly a spectacular machine.
Lastly, I would like to thank all of the contributors to the forum for your input. I learned a great deal by reading your comments and opinions.
 
Can you confirm whether the 21"/22" rear Orion Stealth tires are all-season or summer performance? My sales advisor indicated they’re all-season, but studio staff claim they’re summer tires. I’d appreciate a definitive answer

I don’t have them, but I’ve seen them on three to-be-delivered cars. They’re all season. Which also happens to be what the website says. Studio staff should look at one of the cars they have…

Correct. I have them and can confirm they are the tires specified on the website. Photos below with and without the aero covers

I haven’t taken delivery yet, so I went for a third opinion—Copilot—and got this: "‘Based on current data and owner discussions, Lucid’s 21"/22" Orion wheels—especially the rear tires—are typically fitted with summer performance tires, not all-season." Maybe people at the studio got their information from the Ai 😂
 
How do you like them before/after aero cover removal? I’ve always hated aero covers but I guess I’m getting used to them because I actually am thinking I won’t remove them from my Gravity, if I ever get it. (I am slated for the Orions too)

Which look is better? Is there a big range penalty?

Love th “especially the rear tires”…so summer in the back, A/S in the front. Is that the mullet config?

I haven’t received the car yet, but I liked the Orion wheels on the demo, it looked great. I didn’t have a choice and went with what was in inventory. As far as I know, the 21"/22" setup costs about 43 miles of range compared to the 20"/21" configuration

That’s a BS number from the EPA and because lucid didn’t feel like testing them separately from the 22/23s which are summer/three season AND heavier so probably do lose 40+ miles to the 20/21.

Reality is they’re somewhere between the range of the 20/21 and 22/23. I have the 21/22 on my car and they can be quite efficient. I’d rather have the 20/21 but would have had to wait longer and I don’t love Hankook tires, efficient as they are.

I prefer the look without but I think it’s subjective. I took it for a drive yesterday. Obviously not controlled situation from before but seemed like about a 0.01 mi / kWh hit. But that might be optimistic 🤷🏻‍♂️

The wheels look great, but I’m curious,. does Lucid offer a choice between summer and all-season tires for this size? That might explain the conflicting info. Is there a way to confirm which tires I’m getting before delivery?

No. All 21/22 are all season. Period. You can call Lucid but that might confuse you more. You could ask in other threads here. I promise - every single person who has 21/22 has Michelin A/S tires. That’s all they offer. It’s unfortunate their sales and studio teams don’t know what the company offers.

We have the 21/22" wheels on our first Gravity Dream and the 22/23" wheels on the second. The first Gravity was delivered without the aero blades installed, but we had the Service Center install them.

My personal view is the largest wheels (which don't have aero blades available) really show the massive brake discs and the titanium calipers for a very aggressive sporting look. But I found the mid-size wheels with their greater number of spokes created a very "busy" look that didn't really show the brakes to advantage but just cluttered things visually. I think those wheels actually look better with the aero blades installed.

But, as you said, entirely subjective.

I like the look with aero blades. Agree it’s really hard to see the caliper without them. Plus, 99% of people will have no idea what the caliper is or what it means. From a pure look perspective, totally subjective but the lugs are ugly AF (as my kids would say), so you need to cover those if you remove the aero blades.
