Gravity Bugs / Issues

Okay got the push notification today and waited until I got home to run the update. It failed again. On hold for the 3rd time today with customer support with no pickup after many minutes on hold. Any suggestions will be helpful.
Same. Got notification new update. try to install. stuck at 0% for a bit, then failed. I did it from the app.

Is anyone experiencing random turning on and off of software features in the Gravity?

This evening we were driving along a highway with a 50mph speed limit. Our car was displaying a posted speed limit of 15mph (something about which I've already posted). Suddenly, after about 12 miles of driving this road, the speed limit display turned yellow/orange and sounded an audio warning for exceeding what the car thought was the posted speed limit. When I got to a point I could stop, I found that alarm feature had spontaneously turned on in the DreamDrive menu.

We've already had other DreamDrive features spontaneously turn on as well. Since the lane departure warning/intervention and the drowsy and inattentive driver alerts in our Air are way too sensitive, one of the first things I did in the Gravity was to go into the DreamDrive menu and turn those three features off. Two of the times they seemed to have turned themselves on during vehicle power-up. One of the times it seems to have happened while driving.

I've also had to go into the Easy Entry/Exit menu several times to change the ride height adjustment. I keep it set to "Lowest", but it has occasionally reset itself to "Highest". I notice when this has happened, because the difference means I have to slide over the seat bottom bolster and drop a couple of inches to the ground to get out of the car or heave myself over the bolster to get into the car -- something that is very annoying and probably not good for the bolsters or the leather.

Ask for a new car

At this point, I think your Gravity is cursed and you need a priest/rabbi/imam/etc....

Most of these features are by profile, but I'm sure you already know that.

I'm not sure this setting is saved, or if it's geofenced, or what. We've definitely had to set ride height to "High" after parking to avoid scraping the doors. (Our friends with a RAV4 were amazed by this, but I guess coming from the X having the ability to adjust chassis height by several inches is something we're inured to.)

Ran into issues with windshield wipe automatically coming on when starting car. Happened twice, I just do a soft reboot and it seems to go away.
Also ran into issue with headlight stuck in ON mode, for the duration of my last leg of a long road trip, can't reboot while driving (Tesla could for some reason), went away after reboot when I got home.

I had an instance where I thought I had something similar to yours, but realized it didn't recognized my key fob, and I started the Gravity with the key card, which was not tied to my original profile, it went to a guest profile. And all my DreamDrive settings were back to factory default.

Call a priest to excise that very angry ghost from your car....

Woah. This is brutal. Sounds like you may have gotten an early build with the Intel Pentium II. Would an officer accept an excuse of “my car said the speed limit is 88”?

Feels like some sort of new software or reset by Lucid would be the only thing to fix all that software craziness. If I were you though, I’d probably not want to give up the car, as you’ve said, until you know they have a HUD replacement, etc.

We've already canceled one trip we planned to take in the Gravity, and I don't want to cancel the next trip we are hoping to take in it on September 9. Although we have the Air, charging would be much easier with the Gravity's NACS capabilities and Supercharger access. Plus we'll be picking up people on the trip who would really appreciate the Gravity's roominess.

I'm trying to work out an arrangement in which Lucid will at least try to address the navigation system problems and the second-row seat noise before that date. We can get by with keeping a towel over the HUD during daylight hours and with periodic resetting of errant DreamDrive features. But with no CarPlay yet available to run the phone navigation on the car's screens, I'd really like to get the native navigation working. And that seat noise would drive us crazy. The seat noise fix (whether temporary or permanent) that a mobile tech near Chicago came up with has been passed along to the Miami Service Center in the hope they will try that should Lucid not yet have the parts needed.

It's not ideal, but maybe we can get the car jury-rigged enough to make a road trip in it more appealing. In terms of driving dynamics, room, comfort, and quiet there's nothing else like it on the road -- not even the still stellar Air. But it's a Lucid, so the software is going to suck for a good long while before it, too, moves into the big leagues as the Air's finally did.

Probably not something you’d want to do, but wonder if Lucid would “loan” you one of the test drive cars they’ve got - or studio car - given the breadth of the issues you have. Doesn’t seem like an unreasonable “ask” on your part at this point.

I've had this happen when for some reason Gravity randomly selected the guest profile. This has happened even when the key fob was recognized (I did not use the key card). Switching to my profile (why does switching take so long?) restores all of my settings as one would expect.

First off, don’t come attacking me for claiming that “the sky is falling” but I am very, very concerned about the key issues on the Gravity. Dhruv is not the only poster to complain about key issues with early Gravity deliveries. We all know that key issues are by far the most complained about issue with the Air. When I brought this concern up some time ago and stated my worry that this might carry over to the Gravity, I was assured by a couple forum members that the Gravity would use a totally different key system different from Air, and should not worry. Well, based on some early postings, I am definitely worried.

Personally, some of the other issues like CarPlay, Homelink, DDP, I know will be resolved. If the HUD doesn’t get resolved in the next 4-6 months before my Gravity order comes up, I may just delete it from order and save $2000.

I know a lot of you are long time early EV adopters and cut your teeth on early Tesla, Rivian and Lucid issues and so are more patient and understanding. But if Lucid is going to survive, they need to attract ICE converts like myself. They also need to understand that Tesla and Rivian are not their competition. Mercedes, BMW, Porsche and Cadillac are their competition is the luxury performance market. But people like myself are used to core systems like keyless entry just plain working, all the time, no work arounds, no need to shake keys, open phone apps.
The blinders some of these comments suggest are amazing. This is a $120,000 car that won't lock or unlock and won't start with a wallet key. My car was in the shop for ten days (without a loaner) to fix issues like software. In addition, the front trim was coming loose and had to be replaced (less than a month old), and the day after I got it back the auto lock function and key stopped working. Today I received an email from Lucid not to use the newly installed automatic garage door opener as it may open the door unexpectedly. But don't worry, it will be fixed by September.

Yes, bad on me for leasing a car with a history. But stop making excuses for a car that was not ready for release. I would never recommend buying or leasing this car and would love to released from the lease. Give me back my nine year old Tesla!

Get rid of the car and just leave it man. You ain't happy with it. We get it. This isn't for you. It's doesn't sound like this forum is either. You seem to think no other car maker in the world at 100k+ doesn't have issues or put out some cars thst are defective. Lucky you for never experiencing that. Plenty of us have. But that's cool. You can feel how you want but nothing is to be gained sitting in here going after people who have NOTHING to do with it, can't fix it and are ok with thri issues IF they are even having any. So go on ahead and do what you got to do to make your world right about your car, but leave the rest of us be who happen to actually like the car.

I've said my piece, I won't comment on your posts any further. Good luck in your future motoring choices.

But stop making excuses for a car that was not ready for release.

Look, as a Lucid fan and stockholder, I get the frustration when happy Lucid owners read a post such as @gsj's. And I am among Lucid's biggest fans. It's why we've bought a Lucid Gravity Dream, are still sticking with our order for another, and are keeping our Lucid Air Dream Performance. Lucid produces the finest balance of power, handling, ride, room, comfort, and structural solidity on the automotive market. They did with the Air, and they have done it with the Gravity.

But let's face it. I know from long experience that Lucid releases cars that are not ready for release. There may be compelling business pressures that cause them to do so, but it is what they do. To their credit, they have excellent service and they do finally almost always get the cars in the field fully sorted. But it is a process only early adopters who are used to such travails can usually take in stride. (I experienced similar problems with other new models: a Mercedes SL55 AMG, a Corvette, a Jaguar S-Type, an Audi S6 Avant, and a Tesla Model S -- with me ultimately having to dump three of them within a year over unresolved problems.)

And let's be honest about what we're seeing with the Gravity. Entry/start issues are legion, to the point that Lucid has released a public statement explaining what they're going to do about it. Many cars were delivered with missing or non-activated Homelink hardware, and Homelink software problems have now emerged, followed by another public statement. No CarPlay, which has been in the Air for a while, is yet available. The facial recognition cameras are not yet working. Numerous people are hearing noises from second-row seats. HUD units have dropped into the abyss. And Lucid has now admitted on an earnings call that they are having significant supply chain problems with the Gravity production ramp.

And there are signs that the service network is already being overwhelmed by Gravity issues, even though there aren't that many in the field yet. There are repair hold-ups due to parts shortages. I have twice been told that I would receive a call later that day or the next from a service center to schedule a service date. Over a week passed both times with no such call, with my finally being told that they either don't have parts available or they don't yet have word from Lucid about how to effect a repair.

It's frustrating to hear about it. It's frustrating to experience it. But that's the reality of the Gravity release.

And we are staying on track with plans to have three Lucids in our garage because, once finally sorted, there are no better cars on the road today. You just might have to go through a little bit of hell to get there.

There will be issues with brand new models from a brand new company. It's no different from any other company. This particular topic is about discussing these issues. Will some folks come with that "all is lost" energy? Of course. You spend $120k for a car, every little bug is magnified. If those kinds of posts bother you, put that poster on ignore.
On the other end, I find it more helpful to discuss issues that seem almost universal, like the lock/unlock and Homelink issue. More personalized issue like "My windshield wiper is stuck" aren't as helpful. That kind of thing can happen on *any* car. Just my two cents.

I had a Tesla S back in 2017. The build quality was awful. It had a LOT of bugs and the S was already out for years by then. First thing you learned as a Tesla owner back then was how to reboot the car. Often. The service network only became worse and worse over time as they shipped the 3 and Y. Parts were often unavailable for 6 months to a year, and it got worse during and after the pandemic.

The gravity is already a way better car than the S was back then. Service responsiveness is way better, even if understandably they don't have parts because all the parts are going to build new cars. But yeah when you buy into the first 100 or so of a brand new model there are going to be issues. See Volvo EX90, or heck even their hybrid XC90 which routinely drained their starter batteries due to a SW bug. If this experience isn't for you, that's fine. But buying into the first 100s of a car and then complaining it isn't perfect just seems silly.

Same issues with my 2016 Model X P90D. I knew there’d be issues and I knew I was effectively paying a premium to get in early. Frustrated? Yes. But I did love that car. It creaked like a pirate ship, FWDs didn’t always work, misaligned panels, etc. And Tesla service has gotten worse and worse, as mentioned.

Point is, a brand new car like the Gravity is not for someone who expects the fit and finish of a well established brand. Not yet. And that’s fine. There are enough early adopters to work through these bugs - which suck. My X driver door almost never opened automatically the way it was meant to, but it always managed to slam into a car or person randomly.

Let’s keep the is thread focus on bugs/issues and not just tearing people or the Gravity apart. More productive and valuable for all of us to do this.

I will have to say that I have very much - I will not say “enjoyed” because I truly sympathize with your plight, but rather intrigued/informed by your very frank discussion of your early adopter journey. Being a long time Lucid owner and investor, you have earned your status as an informed voice, yet unlike some posters on this forum, you do not try to gloss over issues but also don’t go the “I am filing a class action lawsuit” course either. You state the facts clearly, state where Lucid has done things right but also when they have let you down. I totally understand your reluctance to take this vehicle on a long roadtrip at this time as your Gravity is not instilling a lot of confidence at this point. Keep up the good work and hopefully your future posts will be more about how Lucid is correcting these issues and less about new issues popping up.

I actually considered getting EX90. I test drove it. Very quiet ride, B&W sounded amazing, I liked the seats, the minimalist style (except shared buttons for rolling windows), and I REALLY loved the Android Automotive (as a Google Maps and Android user). But then I had a chance to see Gravity in Lucid Studio and it made EX90 look like a toy... but what really killed the EX90 for me were multiple lemon stories in Facebook groups and Reddit. What a shame.

Range made the EX90 a non-starter for me. It’s less than my existing EVs.

FWIW, the 2026 EX90 and Polestar 3 will have 800V electrical systems and native NACS. And they'll both still have native Google Maps and voice assistant / Gemini LLM, one area where Gravity is sorely lacking.
I have no idea if range will be improved.
