Gravity Bugs / Issues

So my wife got into the car, and when her purse is in the passenger seat which is a small light purse, the fasten seatbelt alarm keeps going off, only work around is to buckle the seatbelt. That started happening with the new software update….EXCEPT this is not a Lucid, it’s her Volvo V60 PHEV we just had serviced 2 days ago and the dealer updated it to software version 3.7, which isn’t even listed as available yet on the Volvo site. Software is hard! View attachment 30676
Not sure about the relevance of this very large contribution. Pretty sure we bought Lucid's not Volvo's. Software is hard, which is exactly why you expect a premium luxury vehicle to get it right. BTW - Volvo is owned by Geely and their cars are designed in China with lots of Chinese parts. Unless you are a supporter of the CCP I would not own or drive one.

Damn, your house must be very empty considering most of the electronics in the world are made in China. Might want to check how many Chinese parts are in that phone you own also.

Mercedes, BMW, Audi, etc. all have software issues so let's not pretend Lucid is the only one.

Thank you for the insult. Last time I checked, I had a Lucid in my driveway and not a Mercedes, BMW or Audi.

Insult? He is completely right. Probably 70% of everything in your home is made in / sourced from China. And no, you're not betraying any allegiance, it's the same for all of us :)

Owning a Lucid doesn’t mean it should be held to a standard of perfection no other automaker, including Mercedes, BMW, or Audi, has ever met. Every premium brand has its quirks and growing pains, especially as software becomes a bigger part of the experience.

Many people are quick to attack Lucid but then when its shown other brands are all having similar problems people are slapped with "well I didn't buy that brand" no, you didn't but maybe you need to lower your expectations because it's quite clear that perfection doesn't exist regardless of the brand that's in your driveway.

True dat. Nothing is perfect.

Our 2024 V60 Polestar PHEV is built in Sweden with some assembly in Belgium. Pretty sure Lucid’s financiers Saudi Arabia’s record on many things isn’t any better than China and is definitely worse than Sweden or Belgium if you want to follow that train of thought to its conclusion. The V60 Polestar PHEV costs slightly more than a Lucid Pure. The point is not to diminish software issues Lucid may be having, which are real and certainly annoying for some owners. The point is that money doesn’t buy you perfection and whether you’ve been building cars since the 1940s or since 2021, getting everything to work exactly as intended is not easy and if something doesn’t, it doesn’t mean those who are doing it suck, don’t know what they’re doing, or are not doing their best to try and solve the problem.

Drive system error popped up this AM, and i was unable to change gear. Tried soft resetting several times, walking away for a few, etc etc without luck. Now getting it towed to the SC for this and other issues. Currently at a little over 1000 miles.

Other issues, some of which are software-related;
Missing homelink
Driver side window keeps engaging anti-pinch when closing
Inside Trunk plastic trim keeps comes loose when moving rear seat from enclosed position.
2nd row doesn't fold all the way, leaving one side elevated
2nd row doesn't react/fold to button input from trunk
Steering button to disengage autopilot doesn't work. Have to apply brake to disengage.
Steering buttons occassioanlly doesn't work when pushing for music controls
Frunk doesn't open at first push, and appears to want to lift on one side of hood before other side starts to open. 2nd attempt to open frunk works.
Phone as key doesn't work
Error message that rear steering isn't working, and i should contact service center immediately
Trunk trim- brake light on driver side is loose and rattles.
Wireless charger turns off periodically and throws error message every few mins.
Backup cameras occassionally dont show images, just blank screens. Always happens at the most inconvenient time. Haha
Error message at every startup - headlight not working
Left side view mirror doesn't tilt when reversing.
That is too many issues for a new car, I don’t disagree with anyone on that. Especially now that you need a tow, sorry man! I don’t blame anyone being annoyed at having so many early issues, and hope Lucid figures this all out quickly.

I think I'll post here the answer to a question I got via DM about whether I'm willing to proceed with the purchase of our second Gravity DE in light of this thread. Here goes:

Except for the 15-mile trip from our house to the PPF installer, we still haven't driven the Gravity yet, and we're probably still close to a week away as the PPF installer is delivering it to the radar/laser installer. It's kind of frustrating.

I've been disappointed as I watch the list of reported bugs growing longer and longer on this forum. It's actually starting to look like the list we lived through with our early-production Air for its first 10 months until UX 2.0 finally starting to slay the gremlins. That said, the Air is now virtually problem-free and after almost four years is still an absolute blast to drive and is holding up beautifully.

I'm pretty sure Lucid is all over the case, though. I was surprised to get a call today from Customer Care asking if I had gotten the email about coming fixes for some of the key fob and creature mode issues. I had, and they wanted to know if there was anything else concerning me and if I wanted help with anything. I told them we were not yet using the car, but we'd probably be in touch with them soon after we do.

If this Gravity were my first Lucid, I probably would have canceled the second order by now. But I've been to this rodeo before and, although I'm disappointed to be standing in line for it again, I'm confident Lucid will work out these issues and leave us with a couple more stellar cars we'll enjoy for a long while as we are doing with our Air Dream Edition (which we're keeping, by the way, making us a 3-Lucid household).

I think this one is by design. I remember seeing in settings the option for tilt in reverse is only for the right mirror.
That's what I was told today at the SC while I was there to pick up my loaner (Air GT) and go over the issues I have with my car. It would be helpful to have both tilt, like in the Tesla's and Rivian's.
Based on some of the other Gravity's they've had coming into the shop for similar issues, they're expecting to hold my car for 2+ weeks due to issues with the availability of parts.

Yeah, I can’t make decisions for other people’s tolerances, but if the Gravity I get is in the same state as the test drive car, I’ll live with it as long as it charges, drives, and the cameras and HVAC work. Your take on it is pretty level headed. My only main issue is I want to be excited about getting the car and excited for Lucid to do well, and it’s deflating to see a number of issues and already hearing of at least 3 owners needing to take their brand new car back to service. Is manufacturing the culprit? Is it having to rush using untested suppliers? Is it just hypersensitive diagnostics throwing false errors when really the car is fine? Hard to tell.

For what it's worth to the host and moderators. I was fairly early Tesla adopter and have one of the first 2,000 Rivian R1T Launch Editions off the assembly line so am not unfamiliar with issues with early builds. The immediate responses to issues being reported here seems to be directed at providing cover by highlighting other car maker's deficiencies. The tone is off and doesn't feel welcoming like my previous experiences. Just sayin.......

It’s ok to be dissatisfied, just as it’s ok to say “look this BS happens with other cars too”. Giving examples of stupid software problems with other cars happening at this very moment is not “providing cover”, it is providing perspective. It would be excluding perspective if moderators blocked mentioning other vehicle software fails all for the sake of making it feel “welcoming”.

What would have been the right response? Just being curious.
