Gravity Bugs / Issues

I'm glad what I'm doing seems to work for you (and hopefully anyone else having issues).

Also, of note, I have NOT tried using the key with the proximity unlock thing turned ON because where I work my car is very close to my desk on the other side of a the wall (and I can't see the car)...and I didn't want to have to wonder all day if the car was staying unlocked or locking /unlocking randomly. I have no idea how my key will (or won't) work should I decide to choose to turn that on at some point. That being said, I'm in the camp of people that would actually prefer to physically interact with the handle like on my previous cars to feel confident that it's locking and unlocking only when I want it to. I don't like the idea of just walking away from my car and assuming it auto-locked and everything went as planned. I've seen to too many movies where the villain sets up the overly elaborate plan to kill the good guy...then walks away and assumes everything went to plan only to get defeated in the end. I should lay off the Austin Powers movies.
Thanks for the explanation, I thought it odd that you had the proximity lock/unlock suppressed. For what it’s worth, your setup continues to work for me and I’m finally able to start enjoying the car. I’ve wanted Lucid to be successful as I cheered on both Tesla and Rivian when I bought their cars. This key thing is no teething problem but it looks like it’s got everybody’s attention now so should get resolved quickly.

I'd love to see an updated fob that integrates the credit card key into the fob. That's the way my Toyota fob works. If the battery is dead, you can hold the fob up against the ignition button, and the vehicle can read it. Otherwise, when you loan the car to someone, it raises the question of whether you need to remember to also loan them the backup card, which would be annoying to have to do, and increase the chance that the backup card gets lost.
That’s true for both Air and Gravity today. You can use the dead fob just like a keycard.

That seems ridiculous; in my 2023 X5 I replace battery every 2 years & don’t have to shake the fob. Even if I had to replace every 6mos I don’t want remove from bag or pocket. That needs to be fixed.
This isn’t a 2023 X5 it’s a 2026 Gravity in case you weren’t aware and before claiming how ridiculous it is without experiencing it for yourself maybe hold off on judgement because I for one don’t have to remove the key from my pocket to get the car to unlock.

Same here
Sounds like they may have a FOB shortage… or a need to revise some subset of them… best of luck to them getting them soon. I remember when Tesla was buying every button cell in the Bay Area so they could ship Models S and X. Production hell… ramping is tough… logistics of thousands of parts and dependencies is tricky… should smooth out soon…

I might have missed it on another thread, but as one of the few (or only?) people to have extensive experience with the Gravity GT and now the Gravity DE, how would you compare their dynamics?

Woah - that’s a big issue and doesn’t sound like software. Do you have any more information to share?
Nearly every function in these modern evs will have software controls.

I’ll let you know once we’ve driven the DE a bit more (we get it back later this week), but it’s also on smaller wheels than the GT was, so that may skew things.

I strongly suspect it’ll be an animal though

We're not getting ours back from the PPF and the radar installers until another two weeks . . . and it's driving me nuts.

We've got the same 21/22" wheels yours has, and the second Gravity DE we have on order has the 22/23" wheels which, I think, were on your long-term loaner. So I'll be interested to see what you think of the wheel differences, too -- especially since the Pirelli tread width on the large wheels is over an inch wider at the contact patch than the Michelins on the mid-size wheels (10" vs 8.9").

(Although this thread is really not the place. Maybe we should start a thread for owners to report their driving experiences?)

The Air key functions this way, and I believe the Gravity key does too. That really makes carrying the key card a 3rd fail safe if the key stops working.

Can confirm the keycard use will prompt the system to ask if you want to assign the keycard your profile. If you wish to keep it generic for backup or valet use then you decline.

Right on cue, it’s like Elon heard about Gravity’s keyfob issues and said “hold my beer, let me enable Grok AI on some Teslas”, you know, the same AI that just called itself MechaHitler and made sexual innuendo about X’s CEO who just resigned. Thanks Elon for making Gravity Keyfob gate seem like small potatoes🤣

That's good to know! From the discussion, I'd assumed that the keycard was needed as a backup in the case of a dead battery.

Sounds like a nice car

The gravity fob will turn your car on from about 15-30 feet away, but it doesn't actually unlock until about 5 feet within the car. It's nice and the proximity does not work the same as the air.
