Gravity Delivery Discussion

July 4? Seriously @HC_79. You are being really optimistic.
The way things are going with no communication and no updates we might say on July 4 that it might be by Dec 25.
I wasn’t the one hoping for a July 4th delivery. Was responding to someone who was planning a road trip and hoping to get the Gravity by July 4th.

LOL, I'm not surprised to hear our lovely CA bureaucracy is holding this up. It should take CARB 5 minutes to approve a zero emission EV.
Agreed that CARB process takes time, but Lucid should have planned better for this. They're a California company that's already been through CARB certification with the Air sedan -- they should already know how this works. California is the biggest EV market, and having vehicles built but stuck in regulatory limbo is simply terrible launch planning on their end.

It might also just be the the bureaucracy...who knows?

Given how things have been going—minimal communication and no real updates—I wouldn’t be surprised if, come July 4, we’re told to look forward to maybe December 25.
Many of us have been dreaming and planning Gravity adventures since December 2023. The excitement was real—we imagined road trips, weekend escapes, and that first moment seeing Gravity parked in our garage. But at this point, it’s all still just a dream.
We find ourselves stuck in a loop: checking emails daily, refreshing the website, rewatching Gravity videos over and over, hoping for any sign of progress. And yet, nothing.

I had high hopes that @borski would be receiving his Gravity by June 6, and that it would signal the start of real momentum. But it’s looking like even that may not happen.

We’re all still hopeful—but hope without communication wears thin.

Compromise nothing!

I know nothing about this CARB issue, but I’ve been told by someone who shall remain nameless but would know things that they are “reasonably confident” my car will be ready before 6/5.

No idea what that means, but sounds like it won’t be long after that if it isn’t by 6/5 (and I may try to pay early to keep the rate if that’s the case).

In any case, I’ve been told my car is fully built and undergoing “inspections” 🤷‍♂️

So here’s hoping!

I really wish that’s true @borski. Once you get it it’ll open the doors is what I’m hoping for, with our a need for another relaunch to happen.

I am not impressed with the CARB pitch. It’s just a deviation tactic at this time.

Another “pre vin” experience.

Changed our GT to no HUD yesterday morning (we also have a DE order). Yesterday evening got a call there was a perfect “pre vin” match for my order and my SA was going to attach it to my account. Here’s what was explained:

1) New Search System - SAs have access to a new system (or access to it is new in the last week) that allows them to see what configurations are being put together and can then assign a pre-VIN if buyer says they want it. Mine was a perfect match, so obviously I said “yes”. They can not see the DEs in this system. So, like most EV makers, a proactive and helpful SA is key to getting you a reserved place in line (in theory).

2) Pre VIN - gathering all the parts prior to beginning production for specific Gravity - same as what others have heard

3) Timing - 8-12 weeks from now production should begin. VIN assignment likely comes toward end of that time.

4) Delivery - About 2-4 weeks after that 8-12 week timeframe.

That would put me toward end of September. I am still sticking with end of 2025 in my head since I’ve learned these types of estimates are almost always on the “over”.

I'm not expecting my GGT until the end of the year. I removed the HUD by calling my SA and she adjusted the account at that moment and it was reflected in my Lucid account a moment later. I truly don't want to wait until next year to get this and I don't NEED a HUD, no matter how smanchy it is. I just need a good car so I can dump my Tesla MX.

That CARB certification should have been completed and in the books months ago.

@borski - forgive me if this has already been answered, but what happens to your GT when you receive your DE? Will you keep both? Or are you trading it in for the DE? Or has it mostly just been a placeholder car while you waited for your "real" one?

Lucid gets the GT back. It wasn’t originally a placeholder but once the DE was announced it essentially became one.

I don’t know what the CA law is, but there are 49 other states - some that are close to AZ where Lucid could deliver the GTs they’ve made. The CA thing sounds like an excuse. They clearly have production issues beyond the HUD.

Agree, if CA truly was the only problem then deliveries would have started in other states. Besides, @borski lives in CA and has been told to expect his delivery early June timeframe. 🤷‍♂️

Have been thinking about it and part if the delay has to be due to their Saudi friends, wanting their fair share of Gravity vehicles headed their way ASAP, and two, having to build two different types of Gravity for the US and KSA. We saw the fly by videos of a large number of Gravity vehicles but all with CCS ports. If those would have all been NACS, there'd be a lot more happy people around here. Also, I Don't know how hard that is for them personally, but I imagine it's got to be tough to roll out two different, almost different lines, of the same brand new vehicle, with different power system. Just MHO.

Nick Twork has publicly stated that there is a supply constraint for the rear motor DC-DC boost components that go into the Gravity built for North America. Given that, it makes sense to ramp KSA as much as possible. It also also allows the factory to gain more assembly experience.

Ironic that Tesla is basically to blame for all this
