Aero inserts on 21 rims

Well, they might make that offer to DE owners as a complimentary switch (I don't believe they can resolve the Aero insert problem cost-effectively). That would leave only the Eureka Gold DE owners with the sole truly unique trim!
Part of the benefit of the DE is the exclusive options. It’s part of the reason I went with the 21” wheels (since I found the gold ugly).

However, I also expect to be able to pop the covers off as promised for a better look or put them back on for the promised range.

I’ve got to imagine Lucid will come up with an amicable solution for DE owners. The service team has been absolutely impeccable so far, so I will withhold judgement till I hear back from Chris.

Your rationale was identical to mine.

I really appreciate the Dream Team being all over this issue. I have raised it with my sales, and delivery, advisors. I am not getting my car until Friday, so my feedback doesn't carry the weight of @Paladin732 and @Bill55 , but I think we're going to need some strong, and unified, alignment to achieve the right resolution given the costs involved for Lucid. It would be interesting to understand if the DE-R and DE-P can achieve their stated range estimates on the GT 21" wheel that is insert free. Everyone will have their owns views, but I would side with @Bill55 and be fine with the 21" GT rims if they got me the range. Limited wheels, with the damage AND hazard issue, are not valuable - they're a liability. I'm taking all my inserts out until we know more.

Fortunately for me, I've had them out and just kept them out and will keep them out given the previous comments about them loosening and coming off. Hopefully, Lucid will help resolve the scratch issue, it really shouldn't be THAT expensive to refinish that part of the wheel.

Chris told me you were leading the charge on that issue, so thank you. I’m just waiting for you and him to figure this one out so I can follow rather than lead on that one. :)

Ditto to this! I'll even drive up ti Millbrae if I have to

A caravan in the making? 😀
We will all have to fight over the nearest EA chargers then...Get all DE owners in LA to make the drive as well! Actually, you know who I would like to hear from is @Jon_Rettinger

I have not even tried to remove my aero covers. I'm curious what the scratches look like?? Can one of you that has the scratches please post a photo so I know what to look for?

Mine are really light because I removed the covers early.

I guess I'm wondering is it possible they were like that all along? Not sure what would cause that kind of scratching??

If you remove your I can almost guarantee you will find grit and scratches.

Chris actually checked vehicles on the lot that had not yet been driven. They don’t have the damage.

Interestingly enough: the cars ship without the covers, then they are installed at the showroom.

@borski : you can be sure I will be make it known if there is a problem eventually :)

I had the driver front tire replaced (covered by Pirelli) and all 5 of the lug covers have fallen off. Also, I removed one of the aero covers showing off the difference to the rims. It appears that road grime / grit gets between the inserts and the rims. This grit then works on the finish of the rim. Also, after putting that cover back on noticed another was not fully seated. Check all 25 found 10 that were no longer fully seated. I had a hood trim piece on order due to imperfection in the paint, Lucid is going to replace that piece this week and provide new lug covers.
I took the covers off soon after getting my DE but noticed the clips scratched the paint so I just put them back on. Bad design :/

Curious if this issue ever got resolved? And does anyone have a feel for range differences between dream 21 with inserts, dream 21 without inserts, and GT 21?

Car is in the shop now getting the harness recall work, updated latches for the frunk, replacement of tire with sidewall bulge. They are evaluating the rims. Frunk sometimes would require assistance of a manual press down on the hood to fully latch. Will post update on the rims when I have resolution.

I think several people are running without inserts including @hydbob. They seem to be getting as good or better range than I am With the inserts.

I stay around 3.1 mi/kwh without the inserts and my driving style. Good enough for me!

Not to my knowledge. Just crickets.

My sense is the most optimistic resolution will be an offer to swap the DE 21"Aero wheels with the similar-but-not-exact GT one-piece cover wheels. Better yet, they offer the GT version at no cost and allow DE owners to keep their scratched wheels.

The DE owners (all with the exception of those with the Eureka Gold trim) will then have no visually distinctive aesthetic from a fully loaded GT with the same color; but the company might be able to avoid a more structured challenge to this shortcoming -- a potential compromise?

I would seriously consider such an offer. Would other 21" DE owners?
