Vehicle Location Reset?

You wishing Lucid was more involved here doesn’t bother me. If that’s what you got out of my post, I’m not entirely surprised you thought it didn’t make sense.

That’s fine. I don’t have the time or desire to explain it again.

You’re right. It’s not you, it’s all of us.
Never said it was everyone. I was simply replying directly to your message directly to you given you replied directly to me.

One thing for sure is this is a Lucid fandom site. It would be beneficial if Lucid was a bigger part but the site clearly states, "Lucid Owners is an independent enthusiast organization and is not affiliated with Lucid Motors / Lucid Group, Inc. or its subsidiaries."
This post has bothered me since I first read it. Unfortunately, I was on travel and didn't have an opportunity to properly respond.

This site has never in the past and never will be a Lucid "fandom" site. I have personally read every single post on this site for the past two years and I can tell you that without question there are many more negative ones than positive ones. That's true of most of the Internet, where people much prefer to complain than to compliment.

The fact is, Lucid has made an unbelievable machine. I've owned many cars from many manufacturers (my list is elsewhere on this site) and my GT is by far the best overall package I have ever owned. I've had dedicated sports cars and dedicated luxury cars, but never one that did both as well. Does that make me a fanboy or just a satisfied customer? I'm going to go with satisfied customer and willing to express my satisfaction here on the site.

That said, I have been first in line to call Lucid out on shortcomings, especially related to software. I created and still maintain lucidupdates.com as well as all the related surveys, which clearly implore Lucid to continue to innovate and improve. They have actually done a very good job at this, but more is needed. But I certainly don't let some minor software issues getting the way of my enjoyment of this vehicle.

That said, if you lean more toward being a negative person, that is your prerogative. It certainly is easy to make a list of all the things wrong with any product, but it takes maturity to celebrate the things that are right. It's easy to sit behind your keyboard and call out Lucid for not having a feature that you feel is important, rather than objectively explaining what it is and how and why it would be implemented.

Have you met any of the Lucid employees? I've met many, all the way from the top down to folks working on the line. I have found them to be, without exception, highly dedicated to pleasing us and potential future customers. Did you think of these fellow human beings when you wrote your negative commentary? Did you think of all that they have accomplished or just what you feel they have done poorly?

The other moderators and I encourage people to post both positives and negatives of the car, although we also hope that people will remain neighborly and objective. It's always frustrating for us when a new owner shows up on the site and vomits all sorts of negativity on the rest of us, many of whom have been around since prior to the release of the very first car. One of the other moderators has Dream #33 which was literally sold without any of the software features (OTAs) on lucidupdates.com. Go back to the very bottom of the update list and that's how the car was. In the last three years it has become a much, much better vehicle in terms of software and infotainment.

I certainly welcome you as a fellow owner, and I hope you become a more productive member of this community. I have actually made a very good friendship with others here on the site. We honor each other's differences and we celebrate our mutual enjoyment of this vehicle. I hope that you will realize that paying a compliment or describing why you're satisfied with a certain product doesn't make you anything more than a person who did the proper due diligence pre-purchase and therefore is enjoying it.

My bad, you’re right.

It’s me, not you.

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the donut.

Lucid Air multimedia system is AAOS based isn't it? It may use Wi-Fi positioning system in locations where it can't use GPS, directly or just by calling Google Geolocation API. And the corresponding Wi-Fi location database my have wrong address for the Wi-FI AP that is visible where your car shows wrong location. That happens if the Wi-Fi AP was moved, or if several Wi-FI APs in the worlds have the same BSSID (that should never happen, but some Chinese manufacturers do that ...)
If that happens at your home, then you may try to rename SSID of your network just to another name (that should trigger Google to re-learn location), or to add _nomap suffix - that will trigger Google to stop using your AP for location services.
If that is not your AP then there is nothing you can do ...

That’s a great thought! It is AAOS-based, and I know it uses HERE, but I’m not sure if it uses APs when GPS isn’t available.

My *guess* would be it doesn’t, but I don’t actually know; I’d only guess that because GPS is important to HA and HD maps, but I’m not sure.

Either way, great thought! My guess is the simpler answer is it just needs a TCU reboot when it doesn’t work outside the garage, but I don’t know for sure.

I’m guessing *inside* the garage it just loses satellite signal.

I’m curious, @Buffalo Bob, if you turn off your cellular and wifi antennas on your phone, does *GPS* work on your phone in your garage? If not, there’s your answer.

Glad you responded and I value your opinion. Lucid is a fandom site and there isn't anything wrong with that. No one said Lucid hasn't made an unbelievable machine. Quite the opposite.

Funny how one posting about their experience that you don't agree with somehow makes them a negative person. That is your prerogative.

Yes I have met some Lucid employees. Have been working with a few of them for the past 6 months trying to get my car fixed. Hopefully this last service visit will resolve them. Will see.

Sorry but I have to highlight this statement. "The other moderators and I encourage people to post both positives and negatives of the car, although we also hope that people will remain neighborly and objective." I haven't had any issues with anyone on this site. Funny all of my "interactions" have been with the moderators. Hey your site, your rules.

If it's OK to move back on topic for a minute, I wanted to share something that I thought was comical. In this thread, I have noted how my car's navigation can get confused once I park it two levels below grade. Usually, it thinks it's a few hundred miles out in the desert between Phoenix and the Gulf of California, but it always zooms right back on point when I exit the garage.

Last night, I wanted to use the app to do a little alternate route mapping to a place about 35 miles away. The car came up with around a 7,500 mile estimate. It thought it was about two hundred miles out in the ocean south of Ghana, Africa. Yikes! Does anyone know if Electrify America has any stations en route?

lol.

I love it when people show up at a bakery that sells donuts, complain that they only like scones, set fire to the paper towel dispenser, and then leave, complaining at the top of their lungs about how unfair it is they never got their scone.

Feel free to buy a scone. Plenty of bakeries for that.

But nobody here owes you a scone. If you hate donuts, stop buying donuts.

Lucid makes plenty of mistakes. Not making Teslas is not among them.
Borski you kill me 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Try this recipe, @borski. Easy-peasy!
Hey great recipe! I used the 8 Oz flour proportions but I only made 4 large scones and the insides were just a bit doughy. Next time, I'll follow the directions and divide into eight. Very moist and delicious with the addition of dried cranberries.

Yes, it is better to make them smaller. Good choice on the dried cranberries. I especially like adding the dried bing (or even tart) cherries that you can buy at Trader Joe's. Now, you just have to find some clotted cream. (You can make it at home.)

You may have noticed that we got that recipe from Abigail's Hotel in Victoria, BC. It a great little boutique hotel with a phenomenal daily breakfast included.

I walked Hadrian's Wall a few years back. One of the best things was taking a break in one of the many English countryside villages along the way, and having coffee or tea and a freshly baked scone (or two) with clotted cream. Burn a few calories on the day's average 10 mile hike, and get em all back in one fell swoop!

Best scones I ever had was at an open-air cafe after touring Tintern Abbey in Wales. They were smothered with fresh clotted cream.
