If a power outage occurs without warning, you have to be lucky to have a nearly full charge. Most of us only charge to 80% on a regular basis.
 
Fair point, but my Air generally has a good deal of juice in it. And honestly, a sudden outage isn't the kind that lasts for days and days.

Based on consumption from our current home battery setup, an 80% charge would be able to power my house for about three days, or far longer if I turned off the heat pump. It would be a significant help. Easy enough to drive it to a fast charger every couple days in an extended local outage.
 
So my Dream is about the equivalent of nine Tesla Powerwalls when fully charged. So at 85% which is where I keep it most of the time should easily be able to keep me up and running for the better part of a week. So far the longest power outage here I can remember was about a day or two. I did look into a Generac but decided to wait for V2H.
 
Having a townhouse built next year.
Have bought a new Lucid charger for it (leaving the current one for the next homeowner).
This is good timing if true (I don't believe it) as I can have the electrician install the necessary safety hardware to the townhouse panel so I can use my Lucid to battery back-up power the town house.

I don't believe any of this will happen in my lifetime,
but like buying a lottery ticket...it's fun to dream,
even if you know it's ridiculously unlikely.

("fool me once = shame on you ... ")

In the future, long after I'm gone, all new construction will have EV chargers, and battery back-up. I live in Pennsylvania. We heat our house with coal, and light it with whale oil.

@Cosmo Cruz - I could not get your link to work so I found an alternative in case others had that problem too


It was amazing how many of the predictions were accurate - made back in 1975! I also read with amusement "Undoubtedly it will be Xerox and IBM that will find the way." They did have an integral part for sure but are no longer the players they were back in the day. The axiom "nothing stays the same" should color our thinking as giants will be replaced by companies that have yet to come into origin. But the worth of any corporation can be felt in its contributions to the industry. I feel Lucid has made its mark.

Not meeting all this promises are there bigger problems along with software they ignore for 5 years.

People are allowed to both want the feature to exist (because Lucid promised it and because you all keep talking about it) and to not have any actual need or use for it.

It doesn’t have to be useful to everyone to be worth building.

thats not my point @borski ; my point is when someone says "I can't wait for V2H to be released!" and another response with "it won't even be useful bc ur car isn't charged enough"

... Like when Android Auto was so hotly anticipated, and post after post just said to get an iPhone. Arrrrrrrhhh! :-)

I know this was never promised, but 1-2 KW of 110V V2L (running from the traction battery) would be nice as an aftermarket Mod. That cant be very difficult.
