Very nice table, but the best versions of the cars weren’t included, for example model x plaid and quad motor R1S yet dream gravity is there.

As an aside, did you get any answer for why the DE has “only” above 800 hp compared to 933 or 1111? It would make sense for the audience, I concede.

From what I’ve seen, the lucid air doesn’t do 4.6 in the real world. And is closer to 3.6/3.7 (which is still good). But I assume the Gravity in that case will do high 2s, putting it in line or slightly ahead of the rivian. I have an R1T, and it’s very easy to hit the epa range in those. They aren’t inflated like Tesla/lucid

Fair point, I'd point out with Model X Plaid and quad motor R1S, while the 0-60 is faster, the range drops off. For Model X the range decreases by 15-40 miles depending on tire selection. Quad pack R1S doesn't have the max pack option (at least not yet), so range drops from 400 down to 321.

For the gravity launch, it appears lucid is trying to fix that issue. Based on a screenshot of the app, it should have 480ish, but lucid downgraded it to 440, possibly to meet user expectations.

Trying to do the best with the info available! Get me some figures and I can adjust whatever.

I just pulled EPA/MFG specs for all these so it's as fair as possible. Let's not go down that rabbit hole or rehash what's been mentioned 5,000 times already in other places here

They mentioned in the presentation that they reworked the motors slightly for the Gravity. My guess? Reduce HP, improve Torque for towing.

It does make sense, as gravity has the best range but not the best performance so we should match to that.

That also makes sense and would explain how gravity can out tow EVERYTHING except the R1S. I hope we can add the CyberTruck to this list soon!

I hadn’t been paying much attention to the EV SUV landscape until recently. I’m even more optimistic now about Gravity’s chances. The competition is fairly lame.

The only reason I could see for not going Gravity over any other similar vehicle would be money.

The pricing is lower than I expected, though. So even there I think they will be quite competitive.

Or maybe if the styling isn’t your cup of tea. (Though personally I think it looks better than any SUV out there.)

The R1S normal figure is 5000, 7700 is with a special hitch but I gave credit where credit is due.

I think the table is very nice. That said, perhaps it can be enhanced with another column on the ASP (asking price). The cars in this table span a ~2X ASP range. Things like the larger battery packs, multiple motors etc. can skew the ASP by tens-of-thousands of dollars.

Separately, the point about "Efficiency" might need some real-life calibration. Most Lucid Air owners report efficiencies of closer to 3.6-3.8 (vs the 4.61 spec.). In contrast, the reviews I saw on the Rivian seems better than its specs. I am getting my R1S next week and I will find out if it is indeed true.

They changed the gear ratio to improve low speed torque for towing and off road capability. There were also some motor improvements that went into sapphire that will likely carry over to Gravity that improve efficiency.

I will add pricing because we have no idea about Gravity pricing so I didn't want to put 80k for Gravity when the specs don't line up with that pricing. Will adjust it as more data becomes available or maybe just put TBD.

According to Car & Driver:

"But something else is in play [compared to the Air], and that is the shorter final-drive ratio (numerically larger, but they have not yet revealed the spec) that's been utilized to give the Gravity SUV better off-road creeping performance and a usable degree of towing capability."

P.S. I do take Car & Driver with a pinch of salt, though. Long after the Air was in production they still sometimes commented on the ride and handling of its air suspension which, of course, it didn't have.

I asked Eric Bach what the ratio for Gravity was and he would not say. His comment was that he wants the competition to have to wait and reverse engineer it to find out. I don’t blame Lucid for protecting their secrets.

Gravity ASP TBD is fine. Once you added the pricing of the other entries, the price/performance/feature of the Gravity's competitiveness should be self-evident.

The overall challenge for Lucid as a viable business is its small market share, which in part, can be attributed to its premium pricing. It is hard to sell only a few thousands cars a quarter and sustain the development and marketing effort needed for state-of-the-art cars.

I hope the Gravity has better software. I hope those SW improvements waterfall to the Air as well. I like my Air's mechanical performance. But the SW on it is not ready for prime-time and Lucid's response (on SW improvements) has been dismal!

I’ve been pleased with the OTA pace and the current version is very solid; quite ready for prime time.
