TCU not being covered under warranty

When I took ownership from the prior owner there was no "service required" or "please update" or any warning. I only learned by research here my neighbor who worked for lucid UX team and online that I was on old software. I didnt know that the client never did service until right before I took the car in for my appointment.
That’s what I thought. There was another incident posted here a while ago, which I think you might have found, that showed it was up to date and it was not. In my view that is misleading. How many people will go online and search to cross check what the car is saying. I’d venture only a few that are in the know would do it before pulling the trigger on a purchase.

The irony in all of this is that you've pointed out the former owners age as being noteworthy. And yeah, it's not surprising to me that someone that age wouldn't realize that software updates are a critical part of the ownership experience particularly if they weren't driving the car much. Your surprise at realizing the software was out of date could have been avoided before you acquired the car and contacted Lucid.

I'm by no means suggesting that you shouldn't have bought the car, but you seem to believe that you should get some warranty consideration because it was owned by an 83 year old man.
I did try to get service information about the car from Lucid they would not provide it... All they could tell me is what it was equipped with. They would not share service history or ownership history.

How can they replace your broken battery with an old/used one?!
Do you know how many miles have been on the old one? And what the actual SOH is etc.?!

Yes.... So I just got off the phone with the service Director Robert. Super nice guy. The battery being replaced is at 92% they are replacing with 98% battery health remanufactured battery.

Again... what I am bummed about is the lack of commination and poor setup of my expectations.

As well as a lack of "Goodwill" to make up for it. They have to own it. They have to learn from it.

Hopefully they will surprise me in the end and I can tell you all the wonderful things they did for me.

In the "HV Battery Replacement" thread. It looks like a lot of the early (2022) batteries are being changed out due to "isolation fault cause by failed internal component" which is my case. You had said yours may be the same. Did he actually read the text of the fault?

The re-manufactured battery with equal or better capacity than the original is Lucid's standard practice. This is what they did for me when I had the battery replacement in my 2022 Air. I think this part of it is acceptable. I agree that the communication is not acceptable.

Remanufactured is the standard. That’s what I mentioned in my very early post on this thread. “New” was a surprise to me, and sounds like it was a miscommunication.

You had a used battery and they gave you a non-broken used one, its pretty standard at least here in the States. Same warranty as new, keeps batteries out of landfills, functionally equivalent.

no- he said it was a TSB for my battery because my car was early production Air GT 2022.

That’s why vetting the owner is just as important as vetting the car. You are now standing in the shoes of that prior owner. And to the extent they didn’t follow the warranty requirements the consequences will now transfer to you.

Truthfully the guy I bought this from has a 7500 sq foot home in Paradise Valley AZ! This was one of 7 cars he owned.

Do you want me to run a background OFAC and Check the guys credit?

I mean come on. I don’t think there is ONE SOUL here that would pass on the deal I got. Except you.
You @Northpointe would have FOR SURE figured out this guy was incompetent and not purchased this car!

Well I don’t do private party transactions but that’s just me. I’m not questioning your decision to buy the car. Only you can decide if you’re satisfied with what you paid and the car you now own. You could have also bought a CPO from Lucid. There’s obviously an increased cost in going that route but you’re also paying for peace of mind.

When you buy a used car there are certain risks. And one of the biggest risks is not knowing how the car was maintained by the prior owner. But that risk is on you, not Lucid.

OK I understand. And if they give you certified 99 percent guess it's OK

Yeah I do understand that.
We do have 2 x court issues with Mercedes with our 2 x eqa 250+ with "burning" battery packs / cars. MB will replace all 51000 batteries worldwide with new ones due to this issue...

But yeah I understand it that lucid case used one with better soh is ok

So update.... I went over everything with Tyler this morning. Everything is getting done. There is zero help from Lucid corporate or Lucid local on the price of the TCU or the service or the CCC v2.... Nadda.... not even a coffee cup offered. Truly could have been a wow moment for them to cover or help to cover for what I am sure is a part that would cost Lucid less than a couple hundred bucks.

So I am paying.

Disappointing yes.... But also understandable.

Lucid chooses weird hills to die on.

Nobody had any discounts for the CCCv2; is is strictly offered as an upgrade, fyi.

The TCU has been discussed at length on the rest of this thread so I won’t rehash it.

sorry if i'm reopening a wound here.. but what exactly happens to the TCU that a lack of update makes it fail? I mean if it was working with version x of the software, it should continue to work with x.. and if you replay the update sequence x+1,x+2, why would it NOT upgrade? whats the exact problem?
