Suspension Clunk

Just an update on the noise. The tech came out last week to do the stereo speaker fix and tell me that I have too many phone contacts which is why “Hey Lucid” won’t work with my Samsung S24 phone.. Mkay, not sure about that excuse. But the good news is he drove with me and heard the clunking coming from the left front suspension. He tried tightening up some stuff but felt it more likely the strut is bad. The car is scheduled to be picked up and fixed on January 12th. I live in Columbus Ohio so they are going to truck the car away for repairs and offer a free loaner or Enterprise rental while the car is being repaired. I’m satisfied with their efforts so far but curious why a strut would go bad with just 4100 miles o on the car.

Maybe the strut is the culprit... I wish Lucid would be willing to pick up my car and change the strut as well.

I feel like they just dusted their hands off and politely told me to screw myself by asking me to drive my car 4 hours to the nearest service center so they can investigate further… after 10 months of trying to get this fixed. I just plan to continue being vocal about my experience on the forum and social media because I’m not sure what else to do.

This is the work order summary I have from 10/14 - was waiting for the so called parts before I was told they wouldn’t help unless I drove my car down to Houston. Talk about false hope

This forum and social media won’t be able to help you. Lucid service can. Push back on them, and reference the parts. They should be willing to tow it if you’re four hours away from a service center.

Sorry I'm just so worked up over this and feel like I'm at a dead end - but you're right, social media and the forum probably won't help. I'll try my best to push back on them and update the thread with whatever happens next.

We literally *can’t* help, though I wish we could. Pushing service is the right answer.

(And I understand being worked up over it!)

The noise has existed since the very beginning for us. Like day 1. We have had many answers from service centers on both east and West Coasts over four visits. We have had varying degrees of responses while they inspected the care to include:

We can’t hear the sound
That’s normal
Send us a video of the noise
We heard it but techs can’t replicate it
It’s normal - all our cars make that noise
We think it’s plastic (definitely metal clunks)

So, I still feel your frustration, @mustafam1. The car was checked and they said mechanically it is safe to drive. We haven’t pressed due to the holidays. I’m pushing alongside you and will follow up when we get the Pure back to service next month. We are fortunate to live within 30 mins of service centers.

... I have too many phone contacts which is why “Hey Lucid” won’t work with my Samsung S24 phone...
How many is too many?

I have exactly 1,299 in my Samsung S23 Ultra, and the "Hey Lucid" has not been knocked out dead just yet!

This is a quick little development after asking to speak with a service manager... my car will be towed to the Houston service center sometime around Jan 11th - date still to be confirmed!

I didn't expect a call back from them so quickly. Within 10 minutes of me sharing all my videos and this thread, they agreed it could be a safety concern hence them authorizing a tow. Fingers crossed this get resolved 🤞 thank you to everyone who has shared their similar experiences thus far, and for everyone else's input.

I hope you get some satisfaction in this matter as this issue has been experienced by others of us in this thread. So, perhaps there will be a service bulletin to address the issue. Perhaps not. If not, I am not buying the fact that thus far, technicians in Natick Service Center have not been able to replicate my clunking sound. That is neither here nor there when the same sound has been experienced by more than just a few Lucid Air owners. It is worth further inspection and investigation if this issue is not resolved.

This condition can be be or become a safety issue if any identified or unidentified part in the suspension is suspect. It really does not matter which part of the system fails to perform to specification if in its entirety the part or parts therein causes or contributes to a failure in and of the entire system.

I have about 9500 miles and today it happened out of the blue… noticeable on slow speeds than fast… cannot replicate it each time but it is happening often enough. I have a call in my service center, will report back what it is….. at this point has anyone gotten their sound resolved?

Does your car seem to handle/steer poorly after the sound developed?

My car is in the shop. They said the sound I am hearing is the control arm coming lose as a result of not being torqued correctly. I should get the car back tomorrow.

A flawed part from the outset possibly?
