Software version 3.3.2

I have this exact issue. I set the custom button as screen didn’t recognize my touch most of the time. Now, custom button works - but often takes several presses. Still better than on the screen.
Same issue for me.Tech at Natick MA service center mentioned that apparently the custom button on the steering wheel needs to be pressed in dead center (right on the concentric circle logo) to avoid the mis-click.
From what he mentioned, the switch can do many actions due to presence of multiple capacitors (?) but to guarantee it, press right on top of the icon.

I tried this a couple of times - seems consistent enough - but at least for me it is hard to tell if I am pressing right down the middle, or if I just have fat finders and I am pressing the entire button surface equally. 🤣

It’s a pain for the reasons you mentioned. Also, for some folks, it hasn’t worked - but that seems to be a small minority. It’s just like Tesla where you need the card to get in and to start it.
Thanks Ron and PGH. Hell, for me the simple solution would be just to use the damn key card. Still a lot easier than having to stick a shard of metal into the door handle like in olden days of 20 years ago. Then once the fob issue is resolved enjoy the modernity.

I do realize that wouldn't help with the console broken wiring issue.

Mostly lurking here, since I don't have a vehicle yet; really appreciate all the regular input folk here and feel much better prepared than I would be. And a touch anxious. But I lived through an early Leaf purchase, and a glitchy early Model 3 (which was by no means flawless to start on the software side either), so I figure I can gut this one out for all the positive attributes of the vehicle.

Are these known glitches, or something that needs service to address?

We are on 3.3.2.

I've seen plenty of both of those, so far I've ignored them; they tend to go away after a while.

Question: I've got the tow package, but it didn't come with a ball. I'm not planning on towing anything soon, just curious about the options.
...what's the question? It comes with a hitch receiver and a SAE-J2583 7-pin port. You'll need to find a hitch; check out Page 119 of the manual.

I have never seen either; in the past, the second one has been an indicator of a failing center console (typically because of the pinched wire), but it doesn't necessarily mean that. No idea re: RWS.

Have seen both of those as well in my ~5 days with the car. My general philosophy is that if it goes away after a sleep and doesn’t reappear consistently within 24 hours then it’s probably a software issue.

So far this reminds me a lot of my initial experience as an early Gen2 R1S adopter, where the car would regularly throw all sorts of errors at startup (suspension, brakes, headlights, etc) but always worked perfectly. Eventually the software caught up and is rock solid now.

Yes. It seems in general that the steering wheel controls need to sense your finger on the buttons to activate them when pressed. If I cover the custom button with my thumb it activates nearly every time. If I try to push the edge of the button it won’t register at all. I find the same thing applies to the 4-way click controllers on the side.

Have had both many times in our 60 day +/- journey. Hasn’t had RWS warning with 3.3.2. All of the warnings tend to go away after sleep. The charging one sometimes happens while the phone is actually charging - so I know it’s false.

Bottom line - if they persist, call service. If they go away after sleep, they’re bugs. Good rule of thumb for now.

This is becoming like an Easter Egg unlocking game for us, when we get in the car we expect to unlock a new gem - oh, look honey, it didn't restore driver seat position after pressing the brake, but the steering wheel came down as expected, that's a new one, LOL. Another time - oh, look honey, the screens are all black, let's just sit here for a minute and ponder our first world problems while the car decides to wake up, LOL. Another time - oh, look honey, the garage door went back up after going half way down, I must have had my thumb on the button in a slightly uncentered way, LOL. But it's sure a lot of fun to drive, right honey? LOL.

Another question:
With Easy Entry, what's supposed to happen with the steering wheel. I've had it just raise. But one time it was up and all the way forward (same as my Tesla would do).

I'd prefer the latter.

At this stage of Gravity software development I don’t think anyone knows what is “supposed to happen”, we can only observe what happens and share it among ourselves. I hope people writing and testing the software know what is supposed to happen, but then it wouldn’t make it to the public release, so who knows?

Sure we do; it is supposed to raise and move forward (away from you), just like in the Air. Not what @johnse wants, heh, but that's the intended behavior.

You can turn the steering wheel moving off, if you want.

Actually that is exactly what I want. It just doesn't seem to do that consistently.

One observation: My wife has been setting up her profile and getting the fobs and cards paired with profiles. If she unlocks the Gravity by pressing the fob button, it properly loads the linked profile for that fob. However, if we walk up and use proximity unlock, it unlocks but doesn't change profile. Whichever profile was last used is active.

Has anyone experienced Gravity selecting the linked profile from auto-sensing the key fob? Or does it always require a button press or in-car profile selection?

Well then, that sounds like a bug! :P

This is similar to Tesla and imo this is expected behavior.

If 2 fobs are together, in same proximity, then default behavior (last used) unless one of the fobs is explicitly pressed.

There are three main details; ball diameter, shaft diameter and shaft length.. I would suggest waiting to see what you want to tow. Google 'towing ball size' to see what's required.

If you've had the steering wheel just raise up and not move all the way forward, it's possible your saved/preferred position is already all the way forward.
That's my setup, so on entry and exit, the steering wheel just raises up.

Test it by moving the wheel further away/back from you, save it to your profile, and see if it moves on entry/exit.
