New owner; dumped my 2018 Tesla because Musk is a . . . Away, hands free & lane centering just stopped working in the middle of a drive. Panel showed hands free was on but it wasn’t. Does this kind of thing happen a lot?
 
Is it possible my car is getting too robust? I’m very nervous
 
Robustness has been applied to my 23 AT ... will evaluate robustitude in a bit on a drive of the perilous 91 and 55 Freeways.
 
First drive after upgrading and experienced my first ever instrument cluster crash while driving. Completely lost all visibility even thought the infotainment systems still worked. Extremely robust because I previously had had the infotainment system crash but never lost critical drive systems. Reported it to customer care. Interestingly, I only had to park the car to restore functionality, no air reboot or leaving the car required.

Updated to 2.8.7 this morning drive 10miles trip back and forth at 3PM. Went out and after driving 3 to 4 miles i got deadly turtle mode alert and a message saying Vehicle powering down in 2min 😕.
I have my battery replaced last week, for sure this update added more robustness to find issues in the car.

It was a bit freaky as mine happened while driving after the update.

‘25 Air Pure. Just updated to 2.8.7 in 33 minutes. :) have not driven the car yet.
 
Received the update over the weekend. The main thing that I've noticed after a couple days with it is hands free drive assist no longer fusses if you look away briefly to say swap music sources or even to check rear view and side view mirrors. It's much better now with the warnings. Before, HFDA would start flashing "pay attention" as soon as I looked away for a second or two.
 
Drove about 40 miles on new update. Didn't see anything better or worse, altho I think there is a slight improvement in unlocking and locking behavior. Seems to unlock from slightly further distance and lock more quickly as I walk away.
 
Does the Air do a reboot after a firmware update? I find that doing a soft reboot after an update to reduce chances of false negatives. Or it just might be recency bias, but nothing different with the last drive after the update.

Yes…mine did the same today after last night update.

It will default to old Drive Assist, and it won’t engage the hands-free even though I know the part of fwy I previously on many times had handsfree drive assist.

There was no change in my steering wheel so it’s not that it can’t see my face.

Mine did that starting with the 2.8.5 update. Putting car to sleep overnight fixed it and hasn’t happened since

Don’t have 2.8.7 yet but I was hoping it fixed the issue. Guess not 😠
 
Apparently robustness did not include last audio played. Again. Such a simple thing that’s so annoying. Oh and I was unable to activate hands free DDP and the car no longer recognized proximity to my garage with the home link one I got home. Not sure what was changed but I’m a little disappointed.
