Software update 2.3.0

Is there any evidence that leaving the app open makes a difference in the timing of when the update becomes available to you?
No. The update doesn't come to your phone. The update is delivered to the car, and only then does Lucid send your phone a notification to install it. It would work just the same even if you didn't have the app.

precisely what I thought, which is why I was questioning the guidance.

What you’re doing is waking up your car, at which point it either receives or realizes it has already received the update. That’s all.

Doesn’t your car need to wake up to receive the update? Using the app to wake up the car could make it realize there is an update available

Could be. Unclear if the updates are pushed down with a wake-up command or if the car checks when it wakes up periodically (every 4 hours, without intervention). But if this update appears soon after opening the app, that's not likely related considering how large it is to download.

Updates are never automatic. You don't need to do anything to prevent it, just don't install it. What do you mean by killing all cameras? I heard there was an issue with the blind spot cameras that was fixed at least for one person by a logo reset. Peter heard about this yesterday in person. Regardless, email customer care, this is not the venue to report bugs.
I am, sorry for using the wrong forum for this, I will be more respectful. I will try the update today and see what happens.

I did not wake up the car. Leaving the app open in the background was enough to get a notification. I think the notification came from the cloud to the phone. Once the update was downloaded to the car, the cloud must be pushing the notification to the phone.

Got it!

Imagine how delightful it is for those unaware of this site and X to just one day receive a notification for update. Zero stress. Zero FOMO. It’s like they just enjoy the car or something.
THEY ARE UNDESERVING OF THE UPDATE AND SHALL BE LAST IN THE QUEUE.

This entire discussion is for "zero inbox" types LOL

Perhaps. But it wouldn't then show up a few minutes later in the app. The car has to fully download the update (several GB) before it will alert you an update is available.

in my case it was like 20 minutes after i opened the app. My guess is, i woke up the car, it started downloading the update, once the download was complete, it alerted me.

For me, I got the notification at 7AM-ish. I was not awake nor using the phone. There's probably a scheduled background task in the car that pings for any new updates?

yea, the car auto-wakes itself occasionally as well. But as you can imagine, it also doesn't sit awake 24/7 either. That would be a big drain on battery

I’ve heard rumors that such people exist, but they aren’t my friends…..yet.

Woke up to update notification, initiated from the comfort of my bed. Took about 90 min to install. I’m not on the early update list.
