[RESOLVED] LEAVE-REGEN-ALONE

I just wanted to add another data point to this thread. Since the last update, I've also noticed a change in region behavior in my AT. In my daily commute and regular driving,. I almost never use the friction brakes. That changed since the last update and I was surprised that I had to make sudden stops using the friction brakes multiple times since I expected the region to stop the car as I normally do.

I'm very used to my AT's region stopping distance in High Regen mode and have trained my driving style to match. Thus, I've had no need for the friction brakes for a long while now. After the update, when I expect the car to come to a stop (e.g., behind another car), I now notice the car continue to roll forward rather than halting forcing me to use the friction brakes. I have never needed to do that before in normal driving.

I've now begun to "recalibrate" my driving style to release the accelerator early to initiate regeneration perhaps 10 feet earlier than I normally would. It's annoying.
100% same here

Not a big deal

I haven’t noticed much difference, still, you just let go earlier. Train yourself again. Not a big deal.

Not a big deal once you are use to it, very big deal to install update (that has no mention of regeneration changes) and have different performance.

Again I use Sprint with std (low) regen and have noticed no change other than more frequent warnings (at much higher temperatures) of limited regeneration available.

Agreed...not a big deal but AFTER the 2nd time it happens or if earlier notification is provided..but that FIRST time when it surprises you....yeah, that's just not cool...

Well, I'm wrong about everything.
temp -2 C
SOC 80%
Regenerative Braking setting: HIGH

Result of my test:
no sign of diminished regenerative braking

Also, went to EA chargers at King of Prussia mall: was Plug and Play. Fast and Easy. So, everything I said was wrong. My car is Flawless.

I own a GT, this week I'm driving a Pure RWD, both on the 2.8.16... they are very different in their regen braking behaviors. A subset of some things I've noticed:
- at high SOC the Pure has less regen than the GT (duh)
- in cold the Pure has less regen than the GT (duh)
- as the Pure has come down to a SOC in the 80s & as the battery warms, the two behave much more similarly (insufficient observations to know how far this goes)
- in the Pure (but never noticed in the GT, unclear if it would occur there but perhaps just at a lessor extent) as a regen event goes on, the amount of acceptable energy goes down (seen on the max regen charge bar's state)... this feels like something you could consider a form of "brake fade"...

These observations remind me that the Pure RWD and GT are not really the same car... battery size, battery chemistry(I think), RWD vs AWD, car weight are all different... and there are hardware platform differences too (even within one model and model year as vendors change, etc)... and we know that there are some software differences in the line too (e.g. Sapphire's, etc... perhaps even by model year).

I wonder if one thing we see in this (and other) thread is that we are not all driving (and commenting on) the same car...
of course, having clearer OTA update notes would also help sort this out...
one size does not fit all!

I agree as well. It's easy enough to retrain myself, but the first time was a surprise and I almost hit another car.

Yup, I won't be so bold as to say you're all wrong, there are like 7 different types of battery used in the different Lucids with different chemistry which could have different regen behavior. It just struck me as quite a coincidence that this came up right as much of North America started to cool down. I believe the same topic came up last year around this time, with people also swearing that regen had changed.

I've never had to use the brake pedal before the last update. I've been happily one pedal- driving for over 3 years. Now I have to hover over the brake pedal when nearing a stop. As I said before, I only use Smooth mode and high regen.

Yes I do use the brake pedal when the battery is full or nearly so, which is rare as I only fully charge when starting on a long trip. Otherwise I set to 80%.

But I admit I could be wrong. I only posted about this when others posted the same observation. Polar Vortex is here so I'm going out in the sub-freezing weather now to test the physics.
Same here. Smooth with highest regeration and I almost never had to use the breaks until 2.8.16. Also today I got in the car and got a message " the reiteration will be reduced until you drive for a while (or something like that). State of charge was 78%. There is something hinkie going on here.

I can't tell reality from dreaming anymore...I thought I had the same experience but now I can not reproduce it. Everything seems "normal" now. Post again if it goes away after a bit.

Per Customer Care, this has been a "known issue" since 2.8.9 and I was told not to worry about it unless there was an actual reduction in regen. FWIW ....

It sure did:

I, too, am not saying anyone is lying, but it does seem to come up every winter.

When I noticed the change, the temps here in the south were still in the 80s. However the posts from last winter can't be discounted.

Bull! I'm in NE & the temps are in 0 - 45 & I am suddenly having the problem every day when I start out. Seems to improve after a few miles. Started with 2.8.16.

Hang on... wouldn't that indicate it is due to low temps? As the battery warms up, after a few miles, you regain regen?

If so why didn't I have this trouble before? I have owned this car since last July 2024 & went to FL last Dec. 20th in 32 degree weather & light snow. It was even in the low 30's in southern VA when we left the hotel but never had the regen trouble.

Exactly what I was going to contribute. I had this car for two Winters and not had this issue before

I'm not trying to argue, I swear. I'm just literally basing it on what you said - if it improves after a few miles, that means the battery is warming up, and thus would indicate it's due to a cold battery?

It could certainly be something that changed in the software between last winter and this winter, or it could be that the tires are more worn, or it could be some combination of all these factors. I'm just trying to help debug.

I live in Charleston, SC and the temps were still in the 70s and 80s when this started. We still had upper 70s last week. Regen is absolutely bugged in my car. Hell, I don't even drive the car when (if) it gets cold due to the summer tires! Lol

Hmm, well there goes my cold theory, assuming others were also in normal temps.
