Lucid Pure
Received my Lucid Pure end of September 2023 and already one of the small breathable holes on the driver seat has expanded and is now torn. This is definitely a manufacturer defect. Seems like the material they have used is too soft and tears easily. Has anyone else had an issue with their Pure seats?

Contact service.

I’ve only had my Pure about 3 months, but zero signs of wear and they’re wonderfully soft & comfortable. Most people think it’s a high grade leather. As borski said, definitely contact service, your issue shouldn’t be.

I already did and they are going to get back to me this week hopefully with a solution.
Hi Let me know what happened to your seat, my driver seat started to show holes after only 3 weeks of owning the car

That honestly looks like something caught and ripped it.

I guess, but it could be only be the back zipper pocket on my hiking pants, or a back button on a pair of kaki's, but those are closer to the backrest then on the seat.

Just very disappointed with the PurLuxe leather alternative, expected it to be more reliable.

If something did get caught, nothing will be THAT reliable against tearing except maybe Kevlar

Mine continues to look as good as the day I picked it up in August. Not sure what happened to yours, but the material seems very soft & durable to me.

In my Pure driver's seat I'm seeing a wrinkling in the seat in one area. It has me concerned. I'm now extra careful in getting in/out. I try to not drag my bottom as I get in/out. I've had the car about 4 months. The material seems thin to me. A similar, but is seems thicker, faux leather in my Tesla has never had this problem.

Same here..Posted in another thread and reposting here... I do not carry sharp objects in my pockets and use same wallet and phone in pants pockets as I have in previous cars and never had this type of wear or tear on a seat bolster... The only thing I can guess is the rivets on my jeans pockets, which are pretty common item.. Seems these upholstery issues are becoming more common with PurLuxe these days, and no doubt there will be more as more and more Air Pures hit the road.. The stuff feels very good at first, but it is incredibly thin and soft... Bad choice for car seats which get heavy daily usage... I am in furnishings industry and we never see vinyls or synthetics which are this thin and fragile used in seating.. Automotive seats should be durable, and synthetic/vegan leathers should match or exceed leather in durability. Needless to say I am incredibly disappointed with the product and would advise folks to avoid PurLuxe.

Did they manage to fix it? I have the same issue - I got the car less than a week ago!!!! How did they react when you show that to them ? is it cover with the warranty?

They do not have a quick fix, other than suggesting upholstery repair, but was told that within 60-90 days they may have replacement OEM seat covers... If they get enough complaints they might do something... They clearly need to add some thickness or backing material to the PurlLuxe material on side bolsters.

My car is only 3 weeks old and I noticed the deformation of the perforation leather the first few days itself. I informed Lucid Service of the same and they gave me a service appointment to take a look at it. I dropped off my car yesterday and the SA just called and informed that they will replace the driver seat. Getting my car back on Saturday.

My Pure AWD was manufactured during November of 2023, and my PureLux upholstery material seems to be quite thick, with my seats showing zero signs of wear. This makes me wonder if Lucid fairly recently shifted to a manufacturer of higher quality material. I suppose it is possible that they source their material from several different manufacturers, but that seems unlikely to me. People often talk about this issue relative to when they got their car, but it would be helpful to also note exactly ewhen the car was manufactured, which can be found on the car's data placard. Please bear in mind that a lot of the recent deals were moving cars that were manufactured quite a while ago, so some of these issues might date back to a time before the kinks were worked out of the upholsterer's quality control process.

That is a good point, but my service manager is not aware of any change in upholstery specs. My car was manufactured in May 23 and delivered in Sept 23.. BTW, I never had any concerns about the PurLuxe until 7 months after my delivery, and there may be early posts here on the forum with me extolling its virtues. It appears that most of these issues are in same driver's side bolster area, so the size of the passenger, what they wear, and how they slide in and out of the car against the seat edge might make a difference.

Yours are good points, as well. I guess only time will tell. As far as getting in and out of the car is concerned... At a fairly limber 75 years of age, watching me use my right hand braced against the car seat when getting in and out probably looks a bit comical to the younger crowd, and maybe that is the secret of my success! :)
