Zero chance Lucid has any control over this whatsoever. Elon/Tesla are going to be the ones deciding when and who can use the supercharger network. Moreover, there are also superchargers that are still limited only to Teslas even if your car has NACS. This is what you all signed up for when everyone was screaming for NACS.I’m certain if that’s the path Lucid has taken they should be compatible with superchargers on day 1. It’ll be a bad look otherwise.
There are 3 types of Tesla Superchargers:
The following vehicle manufacturers have access to NACS Superchargers:
- Tesla-only Superchargers, which only work for Tesla vehicles.
- All EVs Superchargers, which are available for all EVs to charge with a “Magic Dock” adapter that is provided at the charging post.
- NACS Superchargers, which will become available gradually, by vehicle manufacturer, and can be accessed through an adapter. The adapter has to be provided by your vehicle manufacturer. For new vehicles that are NACS-equipped, no adapter will be necessary.
- Ford
- General Motors (GM)
- Polestar
- Rivian
- Volvo
Tesla’s opening up of its chargers to other automakers was meant to be a three-stage process.
First, Tesla and each automaker would update the software on Tesla’s chargers and the other company’s cars so they could work with each other. Second, Tesla would make and supply adapters to allow other cars to connect to its chargers, which use different plugs. The final step is supposed to happen next year, when most automakers plan to start installing Tesla plugs on the new cars they assemble, eliminating the need for an adapter.
So far only two car companies have advanced past the first stage with Tesla — Ford Motor and Rivian. General Motors had said it expected to complete the software coordination with Tesla this spring but now says it will happen later this year. Other automakers are expected to follow G.M.
But even most drivers of electric Ford and Rivian models do not yet have access to Tesla chargers because the companies have not received enough adapters from Tesla.

But having adapters will not be enough for drivers of electric cars not made by Tesla, Ford or Rivian. Every other automaker still needs to work with Tesla to make software updates for the cars to use the company’s chargers. That first step could drag on for months at the current pace.
G.M. has not said when its customers will be able to use Tesla chargers. “G.M. continues to work in good faith with Tesla to finalize an agreement that offers a seamless Supercharger network experience for our customers,” the company said in a statement for this article.
Besides frustrating owners, the Tesla charging bottleneck may discourage electric vehicle sales, which have been growing more slowly than a year ago. Tesla’s Superchargers are widely viewed as the most reliable, and they are often in places where other chargers are scarce, assuring drivers with access to them that they won’t be stranded with an empty battery.

I think you underestimate what is involved. It's not just flipping a switch and saying "yes Lucid can use Superchargers." Based on what we've already seen from other OEMs, there is some work to be done on both sides to integrate authorization and payment and whatnot, and Lucid is joining a line behind a bunch of other OEMs. Inter-company politics aside, Tesla is not going to promise an exact date by which they can accomplish their end of it for a low-volume OEM like Lucid. Tesla is not the only NACS charging; plenty of other companies are adding NACS cables to their chargers now, but it will take time.
But yes, for a while, it is likey going to be adapter hell, and you have nobody but Tesla to thank for that. I guarantee you if it were up to Lucid, they'd be allowed on the supercharger network from day one.
But it isn't only Lucid that will run into this, if they run into it.

Some people say it bad now and some say bad when Lucid say other wise. At the end of they day we cannot make 100% people happy.That would be insanity. To publicly release the Gravity with a NACS port it can’t use outside of like the 7 US-wide magic dock stations?? Also the whole point of magic dock is to convert to CCS. So you’re saying people would have to put a second adapter on there? To do nacs-ccs and then back to nacs?

If you hate Lucid Gravity hate it, if you love Tesla love it. But you are saying someone dumb for something which you have no clue or have comple understanding of how things work. I hate things with Lucid that i hate, but because of that i cannot say they are dumb.I still don’t think lucid will force you to use an adapter to charge the Gravity. But if you think they were dumb enough to do that, go for it man
