Peace out and culture adventure ahead

I’m so glad this thread popped up again. @Tesla2.0 this thread deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.

Haha! TY. I hope to find weird cars in Japan. But so far, I see 60% of cars are Toyota, 20%~30% are all other assorted Japanese brands, the 8% roughly are German (MB, BMW, Audi, Porsche, VW in this descending order), last 2% are other brands like French & British. I actually see more Citrön and Renault more than American cars. I asked Taxi drivers why. They said American cars are too wide and big for their roads. This kind of make sense.

Last night at a hotel at foot of Fuji mountain, see a level-2 charging station for my hotel.

In a small town called Sanyi for carving art alley which situated next to Silicon Valley of Taiwan, Hsinchu City, I see several Tesla. In Fact, I see more Tesla one day in Taiwan more than 10 days together in Japan. (Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka)

..this is slightly wrong. The 740i and 760i are the traditional 7 series,(gas powered I6 and v8 respectively) while the i7 is the electric one. If it is an i7, it will only show that and "xdrive60" on the rear.
On the other hand though, I see that it has no exhausts, so maybe its just a rebadged i7?

My son and I literally crawled down and verified. It was also at Tesla level-2 charging spot.

Well, then its probably a good thing they didnt catch you.. lol.
There must be some reason for it saying 740i though. Maybe to defer theft?

Not sure. Or it is a real ICE, but disguise its exhaust pipes too well? Any how the instrument panel and that big screen rear screen TV all the same.

First time I see CCS1 DCFC in Asia.
It was at Cingjing farm recreational park at Taiwan. 5734 ft elevation. Taiwan surprised me with more EVs than I can identify them, scooters and yachts are in process of electrified too. Their goal is be emission neutral by 2035.

Currently in Manila, Philippines, it’s basically ZERO EV here. No DCFC stations, I may only spot couple skateboard scooters, that’s about it.

Somehow I’m not surprised. We Filipinos are nothing if not preternatural label whores. Yet there’s no satisfaction to be gained owning a Tesla in the Philippines, when no one knows what a Tesla is. At least, they didn’t when I last visited in January 2020.

Here in Southern California Filipino-Americans were still coveting Mercedes Benz and BMW SUVs (oh, and Toyota Siennas!), as the ultimate status symbol, when Tesla Model Ss and Xs first hit the market. Now, less than a decade hence, every Filipino-American family of middle class means is now striving for a Model Y. They’re ubiquitous now in my heavily Filipino-American neighbourhood. Give them another five years, they’ll be graduating to coveting the Lucid. Which I already have. Now that’s label-whore bragging rights for you!
