I appreciate this thread as I have also noticed the slowdown of OTA frequency, especially those with features or fixes.
If I may share what came out of Tesla’s recent quarterly earnings analysis - today’s big EV players, with endorsement from Wall Street, is planning a pivot to subscription based software vehicle services and feature update, especially for those advanced services, perhaps what could be upcoming DreamDrive features. Of course, this would likely exclude software based recall and bug fixes (much cheaper OTA), but this experience of a car that gets better and more feature rich with free updates, turns upsidethe the standard OEM new model year construct of obsolescence. Economically, us Lucid owners have bought a car once and have thus far had Lucid bear increasing costs of their software development teams without additional cost recovery.
My forecast is that our vehicles will further be platforms designed to support a new subscription for features model that will become the norm.
I would value insights from @hmp10 and @Worldwide Beagle along with the others on this thread as they, to me, add thoughtful speculation as to why Lucid could be slowing down their OTA update frequency and what it means at a macro level.
