Bobby, I appreciate your many contributions to the forum, but on this, I think you missed my point. I wasn’t arguing with what you stated; I was adding other factors that play into the frustrations of those of us who made Pure reservations early on. Once I get my Pure, I will be asking for the phone widget you created, and doubtedly using the Bobby reset. Thanks.

Your response to The703KG is one factor in the frustration. There are others. Part of the discontent of a number of us with early reservations is that, for whatever reason, the California 12 were a one-off right before the end of the year and Pures haven’t been produced since. Some of us were miffed that folks with much later reservations were invited by Lucid to jump the line ahead of us thinking it was the beginning of a solid run of Pure production rather than a year-end publicity event. According to the tracker I have one of the 2 oldest reservations and I have the configuration for earliest production. My DA‘s response today to my question of when will production of Pures start was that he hoped he would have an answer in Feb. I fully understand the realities a new company like Lucid faces. But there are buyer realities as well: succumbing to delay-fatigue; facing the reality that their current drive has to be replaced sooner rather than later; finding themselves forced out of Lucid’s price range by the change in economic circumstances; or discovering a new BEV that comes close to what they want and is available. In the best of a buyer’s world, my DA would have said, ”Production is slated to begin ….” But, I remind myself, when my new model 2013 MKZ was delayed, Lincoln wasn’t any more forthcoming than Lucid as to when I could expect delivery. I wish there were an emoji for drumming one’s fingers because that is the one I would post. 27 months and counting; in our culture, that is a life-time.
I ordered my last BMW and I had a production window immediately. But I don't think it is fair to compare this issue between a new car company (Lucid) and an established luxury car company (BMW). But communications remains a problem.

I am one who was waiting for my Pure, or at least for the specs for my Pure, As you noted, I discovered a BEV that is close to the Lucid and jumped on it (Genesis GV60). Better than a Pure in some regards, not so in others. Range is much less and it is a raised hatch (they call it an SUV) and won't come close to handling like a Lucid Air. But on the other hand it has better seating position including easy entry/easy exit which is good for an old man scheduled for a hip replacement), Nappa upholstery, 360 cameras, highway assist. blind spot camera views, and fast charging (if the charger permits (18 minutes from 10% to 80%), lots of HP and torque (0-60 in 4 seconds without even using the boost button), etc.

It is much smaller (177" in length) but for me that is a plus as the Lucid Air is larger than I prefer. Many would consider that a minus.

If Lucid had only communicated with me better, and the specs for the RWD Pure were acceptable to me, I would have waited. So you are right on that Lucid is shooting itself in the foot by not communicating better. At least in my case.

You got the GV60? Nice.

I’m hanging in there so far. I need the range for trips south from NJ. Keep scouting for something that comes close, but haven’t found it. Best of luck with your purchase.

Hello all,
I'm new to the forum. Have a pure reservation from Dec 2021. I had a question for members here. I don't want to buy the lucid anymore since since my circumstances have changed and my rivian delivery is coming up in the next few weeks. Can I just refuse buying the lucid and lose the deposit? Is there any other formality involved?
I just canceled my reservation a couple days ago. Reached out to my SA via email and got a swift response that the cancellation process has been started and a full refund will be processed.

Enjoy the Genesis. But the AIR looks much prettier and is a blast to drive. I waited 2 years for my touring. Well worth the wait. I would reconsider I was you.

All EV's have extensive delays....except Tesla which has grown it's production too fast

Yeah, but saying 'all EVs have delays' doesn't really explain why Lucid is shortlisting reservations that should've been lower in the queue. If we can't trust Lucid to fulfill our orders relative to when we reserved our Pures how do we know when to expect it? It really doesn't help that this forum is one of the most authoritative sources of information about Lucid Air rather than the manufacturers themselves. (No offense to the forum and the ones running it of course)

Understand your point. But I believe they are producing fully optioned Pures right now. Honestly, you’ve waited years for the car. Well worth waiting another 6 months

Perhaps the admins can change you to lucidtouringman? I would be interested to hear your thinking on the change. If you place that in a new thread please link here.

Happy to shed some light on making the change...first, 20k+ is not a trivial amount for me so first let's get that out of the way...second, I tend to keep my cars for a long time...at least 7-9years...now with that in mind, when I did the test drove a Touring, I realized that the added feature set (Soft closing doors, auto open and close frunk, cooled seats in Texas, some extra HP and range to play with, glass roof, the dual tone exterior etc. ) will matter over a LONGER term to me...I will keep getting older and hopefully making more money so while I may stretch a bit this year, two years down the road I will not care so much about the extra spend but will still appreciate the comfort features...this was some of the thinking behind my decision...also I didnt much appreciate the generous use of textile in the pure...esp its placement in areas that my skin will interact with...when I was at the studio, the textiles felt very rough to my touch and I didnt want them so generously used in the car I drove...so I bit the bullet and paid a bit more...I am sad that i will lose the 3 year EA charging but it is what it is...

Interesting opinion on the textiles. Do you like to touch the surfaces often?

I thought about the textiles too whether they will cause long term issues. My only problem is potential spills on the middle compartment. I would prefer it to be wood but other than that I am wearing something with sleeves 95% of the time and I usually don't mind myself making in contact with the textiles except the middle compartment.

Other than that, congrats on the Touring! Glass roof is nice and non black interior will help you a lot with the heat

Did you have to pay the new price for the Touring?

I do wear short sleeve shirts often (as was hte case when I test drove) but while I may not be touching the surfaces a lot...even the textured look I wasnt too appreciative of...not that its bad...just htat I preferred the look of alcantara more...i was also afraid of cuts/nicks in fabric over other materials...fabric will be much harder to repair and that it is in areas where hands/things will come in contact with it...longevity-wise I thought other materials made more sense for my use case...

I still kept the Mojave interior...so all black in front and grey rear interiors...curious to see if the AC will keep up...but my car is garaged at home and at work so hopefully itll not be a lot of times when its directly in the sun...and the few times it will be ill just have to suck it up :)

I do have to pay the new price for the touring...even after a lot of cajoling...there is nothing from the Pure reservation that Lucid is letting me carry over to the Touring...

Anyone with a recent update on when to expect their car? Wondering when the real production of Pure's will start.
