Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Grand Touring

May 31, 2022Red@smartebizSeptember 16, 2022

My Interior Tahoe it was not updated in the tracker. Appreciate if it gets updated.
9/27/2022 - Purchase agreement singed
9/28/2022- Payment has been done
as per DA expected delivery to Houston next week of Oct 3rd Actual Delivery date yet to receive.
Thanks all owner here for helping and providing valuable information and sharing your experience.

Picked up my AGT today at Tysons as scheduled. No apparent issues, the vehicle looks great and performed well on my drive to NC from DC this afternoon. FYI, they had 15 or 16 other AGTs waiting for their owners, including one in Cosmos Silver, the first they received at the Tysons location.
Congratulation and enjoy the car!

What were the specific fit and finish issues
Some minor paint issues, trim fitting issues, rear deck lid is loose and makes a rattling noise and it’s very obvious, trunk needs to be realigned. The biggest issue was the right cantrail had dents in it, so that’s being replaced as well. It’s really not that bad, it just needs to be perfect on a luxury car worth 150k and they’ve been EXCELLENT at taking the initiative to fix the issues. Lucid service has been very responsive and I should have my car back in a few days.

Update on my order:
Quantum Grey, Tahoe Interior, 21” Aero Blade Wheels

Ordered/Confirmed: May 17th, 2022
VIN Assigned: September 23rd, 2022
Purchase Agreement Paperwork: September 27th, 2022
Delivery is expected around October 7th, 2022

Just took delivery of my Zenith Red last night out of Tyson's Corner, VA. They are doing a lot of deliveries right now. The delivery specialist was willing to answer all questions and walked me though most of the car setup. I took delivery a little after 5 pm, and one piece of advice I would give is to try to schedule your delivery earlier in the day if you can. My DA did a great job, but I think she was a little tired after a day of deliveries.

There were only a couple of minor issues I found. One was found during delivery - the interior fastener on the roof was sagging just a bit at the rear window, but it was included in the due bill and Im not worried. The second item I found after I got home was some small scratches on the body panels just below where the cantrail meets the rear body on the drivers side. I called both customer care and the DS this morning to let them know. I will re-iterate what I have seen on the forums thus far and say to those of you that have had communication issues during the purchase process - the post-purchase service is fantastic. I took the car to a detailer this morning for PFF, ceramic coating, black wrap on the mirrors and cantrails, and window tinting and we discussed options for dealing with the scratches. Most of them are a non-issue but a couple at the edge may not come out. We decided some touch up paint would probably be the way to go given their small size and location. Customer care was very interested in getting more information and assigning service to look at the issue more closely to decide the best course of action. Also, the DS asked for some pictures to include in their paper work and will include it in the due bill. In short, it was great follow up and customer service. I have 2 teslas and while I love the cars the service has really been a sticking point for me. In the first 24 hours of owning the car I have already felt much more confident in my purchase.

While I haven't had much of a chance to drive the car, but my limited experience was how much more solid the car feels than my Model S. I received the car with firmware 1.85 with 1.19 waiting to install. Installed 1.19 last night with out issues. So far, while the interface is a little laggy and needs some refinement, I was pleasantly surprised with my experience after reading all the software threads on the forum. I'm glad I did because it managed my expectations, and I look forward to more updates. I cant wait to get the car back in 2 weeks. For those of you still waiting - keep the faith, it is totally worth it.

Two weeks - is that how long the PPF installer will need your car? That’s a long time. I hope the place that did our Teslas won’t take that long. For them it’s been about 4 or 5 days.

I always enjoy hearing stories like yours of outstanding post-sale customer service. We “early adopters” need to enjoy Lucid in their infancy while we can. In a few years time, when cheaper Lucids become ubiquitous - and they will - we cannot expect this level of service attention anymore.

Just like at Tesla nowadays it will be impossible to get someone over the phone. Tesla have already proven that Lucid’s current level of “white glove service” is unsustainable over the long term. Sobering but true.

I didnt really know when my car was going to be delivered till last Friday and my installed had a few jobs in front of me. I'm sure it isnt going to take him the full 2 weeks, but I didnt want to drive my car before PFF, so I dropped it off a few days before he is starting.

Day 4 and just back from the ceramic coating install…. looks great and Just in time to keep in the garage through the hurricane! 🤦‍♂️ Apparently it cannot get wet for 48 hours post coating application.

Out trimming grass around the mail box and pick-up slowly cruses past with the largest white trailer (enclosed) I have ever seen. It's lawn mower season and it looks just like a mower trailer, only bigger. No markings, no tags. Not what I expected. Driver is just sitting there? It can't be the mower crews ( 80 houses and 63 different crews mowing so there is always a leaf=blower going, all the time from dawn to dusk every frickin' day of the week) because only one guy and no weed whackers hanging off the pick-up. He's not a usual suspect.

I think I"m about to be delivered.

Please upload pics when done. I was at PPF place yesterday and I am torn between:

1. Black cantrails and mirrors and name plate
2. Black mirrors and name plate
3. Dark grey/graphite colored cantrails and mirrors and name plate

Congrats (hopefully)!

If you're in the Philly area - they chose to deliver to you, instead of making you travel to Short Hills?

So, I finally got the car RE-delivered.

They fixed the ding/dent on the door, they replaced the windshield, they re-attached (or replaced) the door trim, they put on the correct (21") Wheels and tires, AND installed the latest update (1.2.21).

Car looks amazing .. and, as I was told while taking it for a spin this evening, the lights at night look cool coming and going!

So far so good. The biggest issue I have is getting In and Out of it .. although I can't blame the car for my "well-fed" physique.

Issues/Concerns:
  1. I had a strange issue when I came back from my second trip and tried to charge it (w/ my hardwired ChargePoint Flex .. which worked fine 2 earlier times). The car kept messaging that it was "Preparing for Charging" and blinking white, but nothing happened and I couldn't do anything (in the car, w/ the charge plug, etc.) I returned 20+ mins later (w/o my FOB or phone, but w/ the Valet card) thinking I had to reset the car. After opening the door, however, despite the message still being displayed, I was able to unplug the charger. I left it off (since the battery is at 79%) .. and will check again tomorrow.
  2. The "cooling seat" functionality didn't work. The Delivery Specialist (DS) said that she had seen that before and did a software reboot (by getting out of the car, locking it w/ the window down, pushing the hi-beam/wipers stalk down for a few seconds, stepping away for a minute or so, then she placed the valet card on the driver pillar and the screens rebooted). When everything came back, the cooling seat function worked.
  3. Bluetooth pairing (to my iPhone 12ProMax) took a number of tries before it finally paired. The DS said that it is a known issue that she believes is being addressed in the next majore release.
  4. The DS couldn't get Homelink to connect (using a remote). I tried a few times later, but will try the alternate method (learn button on opener) tomorrow.
Also, I definitely miss a few things (that a number of folks have already mentioned and some of which are expected in the next big 2.0 software revision) e.g.
  • Auto Hi-Beam
  • Easy Entry/Exit (for now I set up the work-around mentioned in another post .. I set a profile called "Exit")
  • ability to view cameras (live or recorded after the fact) -- Although I love the live camera-view control functionality when clicking the Parking function icon, I still miss having the ability to create and review video clips.
  • lack of a "Sentry mode" (w/ ability to view recorded clips)
  • CarPlay
That said, there is LOTS to Love !! .. (btw, I was pleasantly surprised by the camera views when signaling a lane change), and I can't wait to get out there again (though, unfortunately, it sounds like I'll have to wait for Hurricane IAN to pass thru the Carolinas before heading out and enjoying the car a bit more).

This might be a ChargePoint issue; I haven't used it since I have a Wallbox, but there have been other failures with ChargePoint Flex on the forums, which needed a replacement charger.

  1. Yeah, I had that happen once. Hasn't happened again after a reboot.

  1. Bluetooth pairing (to my iPhone 12ProMax) took a number of tries before it finally paired. The DS said that it is a known issue that she believes is being addressed in the next majore release.
Yup. Known bug. Luckily once it's paired it stays paired.

  1. The DS couldn't get Homelink to connect (using a remote). I tried a few times later, but will try the alternate method (learn button on opener) tomorrow.
Yeah, the learn button on the garage opener was the one that worked for me as well. Again, once it's done once (per profile, annoyingly) you never have to do it again, and then it works every time.

  • Auto Hi-Beam
Coming; it's even in the manual, just not in the software yet.

  • Easy Entry/Exit (for now I set up the work-around mentioned in another post .. I set a profile called "Exit")
Oft-requested; the Exit profile is the workaround for now.

  • ability to view cameras (live or recorded after the fact) -- Although I love the live camera-view control functionality when clicking the Parking function icon, I still miss having the ability to create and review video clips.
I really want this too; my suspicion is they're waiting to build a lot of features until the new software stack in 2.0 is out.

  • lack of a "Sentry mode" (w/ ability to view recorded clips)
Same as above.

It's "done" and waiting on Apple certification / approval; that process sucks and is opaque, but Lucid really wants to get this out ASAP.

Congrats (hopefully)!

If you're in the Philly area - they chose to deliver to you, instead of making you travel to Short Hills?
Yes my car was on that trailer. I watched from the window as the driver (a 7' Russian) opened the ramp and backed out a 2023 BMW 540i . Nice but ... it did not look like another car could be in there but yes....I have photos but way too amped to sort it all out now.
Yes I did not have to go to short hills; it came to me from Chicago. I am told that's where they go for final inspection. Home delivery is awesome.
History: ordered the car 25 Dec. 2021; confirmed 1 Mar. 2022 VIN 13 Sept. 2022 Delivery 29 Sept. 2022

The car is stunning.

All those who waited for Cosmos Silver .... it goes to eleven !

One lap around the block then into the garage. Car would not turn off. Is flashing and blinking and buzzing and clicking and door wings flappin' ... I sat in the dark garage for hours last night watching the birth pangs of a major update.
