Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Grand Touring

I just took delivery of my Lucid Air GT today at Tysons VA (quantum gray, Mojave, 19” wheels, confirmed 14 Dec 2021, VIN 18 Aug 2021). Amazing comfort, amazing performance, great sound system. User interface seemed overwhelmingly complex at first, but after a few hours use already feels very intuitive. Took me about 30 minutes to get used to the regenerative braking, but I now much prefer it to standard ICE car braking - a greater sense of control. The acceleration even in Smooth is a rush, and I love the way the car corners. Kudos also to my DA for great communication throughout.

I’ve been an avid reader of this forum for nearly a year, and am very grateful for all the insightful posts, as well as the identification of software glitches that have since been fixed.

If you wait a month or two, there should be some mats available from either Lucid or 3D mats. Will be visiting 3D mats next week for a final fit test before they mass produce.

Confirmation date April 20, 2022. VIN Assignment September 03, 2022. Grand Touring Red/Mojave, 19" wheels
 
I'm just getting more and more steamed when I keep seeing all these VIN assignments for Zenith Red GTs. My original confirmation date was December 4, 2021. At the time I chose 20" wheels because I was willing to wait until Q2 2022. I changed the interior from Santa Cruz to Tahoe on March 18, 2022 and was told it would not impact my delivery date. Finally when they moved the date for 20" wheels to Q4 (which is itself a joke), I changed to 19" wheels on June 2 (over three months ago). Again I was told it wouldn't impact my delivery date. Yet here I am with an original confirmation date of December 4 and no VIN in sight. I am NOT happy.

I believe changes in specifications must cause delays. I think that was part of my delay, but yours is much much worse.
I can only conclude that once you changed in June, it was akin to staring over. Very frustrating. On a positive note, and I preached this internally many times, by the time you get your car more bugs will be fixed. Hang in there, it will be worth it.

till then is the consensus still the Motor Trend ones from Amazon?

I'm pretty sure you know why you haven't received a VIN because you didn't change off the 20" wheels until mid Jun even though it has been known for awhile that the 20" wheels probably won't be ready until early 4th Quarter.

The 20" wheels were changed to Q4 on the web site 3 days before I changed my order. I was not told that I would be bumped to the end of the line if I changed my order and I see no reason why that should be the case. Original confirmation date should have been respected. (And June 2 is hardly mid June.)

I think most have those, though @Dortreo picked up a different set he likes better. What a contrarian!

No one has seen 20” on the streets yet.
 
I'm assuming that as I haven't yet received a VIN on my March 28 confirmation of a White AGT, that my change from Mojave/20" to Santa Cruz/19" on May 28 moved me to the back of the queue at that time. If so, I'm OK with it.

Bear's latest flyover video opened with a trailer half full of GT-Ps, and I assume these have production priority over the plain GT for better margins.

Even though Lucid will not confirm this I have to believe you are correct. My GT-P order was confirmed in early August and my contact at Goose Island (who has access to the internal database) said he expects my VIN to be assigned in October and the car delivered by Thanksgiving.
 
Where do I get my vin number from? Can I get that information in my account online or only by speaking with the advisor?

Your advisor will inform you when your VIN is issued.
