Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Grand Touring

For the tracker, and those waiting, some details on my delivery 2 days ago:

I confirmed (Quantum Grey/Santa Cruz/19") on 2/15/22, and in July asked DA for Quantum Grey's in other configurations. On 7/12/22 I was offered a Quantum Grey/Mojave/21", which I accepted. I then asked about switching the 21"s to 19"'s and was told it was not possible due to the Monroney sticker that indicated the VIN had the 21's. So I asked the cost to buy the 19"s separately (I live in midwest, and need it for snow), and was told $3750 installed. After a few back and forth messages about getting the 19's installed by mobile van in the fall, my DA said they could amend the Monroney sticker, and switch out the 21's for the 19's. So, that's what I got, and at my request they removed the aero blades, installed lug nut covers and a center Lucid cover plate. Delivery came 7/4/22. Of note, depending on your location and DA, you will have more or less time on delivery to ask questions / review car. I sent the checklist in advance, but 90 minutes was not quite enough time to go over everything I wanted to ask. Had one panel gap issue, but otherwise all good so far, with car performing flawlessly. Love the ride!

Looks amazing! Love the exterior photos. Do you have any of the interior? I can't find any Mojave interior photos on the forum but I might have overlooked them.

Congratulations, looks terrific, enjoy it in the best of health.

I placed my order for a GT Performance a couple of days ago. I live in Chicago and don't want the 21s. I spoke with my SA in Oakbrook who said he would look into getting the 19s but he has not followed up. I spoke to an internal SA in CA who didn't know how to accomplish the ask. From your experience it sounds like once the DA reaches out to me I have a better chance of getting the switch accomplished. The internal SA pointed me to the local service center to inquire about getting a second set of wheels for winter.

Cool, you may be the first member here to order the GT P. The sales associate should be able to work with you when it comes time to confirm the order (that’s when they lock in the colors/wheels etc). Getting an extra set of wheels is $$$. I’m wondering if the 20” all season would be available by the time your car is ready? As I understand it, 21” are summer tires only, 19 are all-season (they seem to handle the 812 Hp on my GT ok), and 20” would be all season but nobody knows when they’ll be available.

I came across some 21” all-season options on Tire Rack yesterday so that could be an option.

Is that even possible? You may need to check with service center, tires diameter may be too thick to be mounted, or they may need to calibrate and adjust software for this Michelin tires.

I also live in Chicago and waiting for my car. I ordered a regular GT with 21s (confirmed on 3/26/22, no vin yet) and asked to buy a set of 19s for the winter. They said I can buy them directly from goose island, here are the costs they quoted me:
Four 19" wheels with all included hardware is $2444 + tax

Four 19" Winter Tires are $1300 + tax

I don’t have my car yet (actually ordered 19” because of where I lived but toying with switching to 21” for looks). I selected the Lucid Air as the vehicle in Tire Rack and those came up in the list of choices. As I understand it, the only differences between AS and summer only tires are the compound composition and tread pattern. The dimensions are unchanged

Edit: Did you ask about the diameter because of the picture of the tire itself? I think that’s just a representative picture of the tire in another size, not the listed size. The tire in the picture clearly has a different aspect ratio

I’m sucker for that aero blades rims look. 512 miles or 460 miles range I was told. I was like, I don’t think I have driven more than 400 miles in one shot in recent years, so bring it!

Thanks all

I am not a fan of all seasons

I had seen on TireRack that I can get Pirelli PZero Runflat Summer tires and Pirelli SottoZero3 winter tires, both in 19s.

I had asked a Lucid CA based customer service person a few months ago (after burning our my local SA, not an SA if they could do Summer tires for 19s and at theat point she said they were planning to offer more wheel/tire options but they only added the new wheel for the GT-P as fas as I can tell.

Thanks for sharing pricing for the 19s. They are pretty cheap, may be a better play to leave the order alone, sell the 21s that come on the car and get the 2 sets of 19 inch wheels from Goose Island, and have TireRack deliver the preferred rubber to them for installation.

Regarding timing, the CA based SA said that customer are receiving their cars in 2-5 months from order placement (so I should be ok on the Federal tax credit).

Yea, so the $3750 I quoted is correct, and includes installation. However, I believe there will be better tire options (than Pirelli) coming soon. Tire rack will be the place to look.

I have had SottoZero 3 tires on my Gen 2 NSX for 5+ years and the runflat version on my LC500 convertible for 1 season and they have been great.

I really feel that the PZero issue on this board is related to having a heavy car with too short of a sidewall using the 21s.

By the way, I was on Lucid's website this morning just playing around and noticed that Quantum Grey is now Quantum Gray. WTF!!!
My friend, you may have a Lucid problem 😄

Maybe this will be true at some point, but I confirmed on 3/28/2022 and have not heard anything since from Lucid. Since my car hasn't entered production yet I expect a minimum of two more months to go, which would be a minimum of seven months from confirmation.

Gorgeous car! I’m truly envious. With the aeroblades removed, will you experience a loss of range?
Yes, though with the capacity of this battery I am hardly worried. Some Tesla owners have reported the loss is somewhere around 2-4%.

All I can do is share the info I receive. Hopefully they get the car to me before the end of 22.

My sense is they prioritize higher priced units (checked the box). What is less clear what color exterior they make the most of (white should be one of those) and the interiors that are easiest to get components for (no clue where Tahoe resides).

I confirmed on 3/26 and haven’t heard a peep yet. Looks like we’re in the same boat.
