Following up on this. (I'm going to stop talking about this on the tracker thread after this, it's off topic)
Car was a Red/Tahoe GT Production model.
The car drives
really well. This produciton model was more polished in EVERY single way than the pre-prod we tried back in March.
1. New Nav: Much improved, super fast to navigate within the city. Very laggy touch response, especially in Satellite view.
2. General state of software: Much improved. Responsive albeit slow to switch between major apps (Music, Nav) but totally acceptable.
3. AC function: The AC is definitely a little bit weak but I think as long as you ignore the set temperature and just lower it till you're comfortable it gets the job done. Surprisingly loud for not moving a lot of air at the higher settings. I think there's a lot of loss of pressure from the sheer number of vents everywhere in the car.
4. Sound system: When I first saw the car, this blew me away. Today however it seemed like all the sound was "ahead" of me. There was very little happening near the back of the car. Could be that the bass was cut, didn't try rebooting. Balance slider was centered and moving it back made no difference other than just kill the volume in front.
5. Luggage Capacity: We forgot to carry luggage
6. Profile switching: All the studio cars are in guest mode and didn't have more than 1 profile. Weren't able to test this out.
7. Fit and Finish: Broadly speaking, absolutely top notch. Exterior and Interior were excellent. Only problem was the steering wheel buttons for cruse/next/prev/alexa etc were making a very loud creaking and clicking sound when pressed. They felt broken. Studio car didn't have that issue. The climate control and volume buttons in the center feel much better than before. The steering wheel roller buttons also felt much better than before.
8. Adaptive Cruise: Tried out adaptive cruise. Works really well. Worked well last time too.
9. Lane keep: Generally worked well but tended to keep moving me away from the median divider if there was one. I would turn this off.
10. Distracted driving: I have polarized glasses, never triggered the system.
11. Heat from windshield: I'm 6'4", I could feel the windshield get warm but it was not bad at all. Non issue for me. If it does bother me I'll tint it. Car clearly has UV treatment on all glass.
12. Self park: Car is a lot more confident than before. Tried it twice, both times there was a car on 1 side and a pillar on the other (with another car beyond the pillar). 50% success rate
. The first time we nearly made it into the spot and the car did a fantastic job, but then just stopped and starting moving the wheel around for no reason.
Overall the car we drove was far more polished than the one we tried out back in March. It looks, feels, and drives like a premium luxury car (than can transport you and 4 others to stupid speeds in crazy short times). I loved it. It's put my mind at ease and I will likely take delivery.
PS - It bugs me that in every review I watch, people try to "slide" the pilot panel up. That's not how that thing works at all. It's just a "button", just press and hold until the animation finishes and then release to make the panel retract. (gif demonstration)
