Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Grand Touring

I have to give Andrea at Short Hills (SH) credit. She has been in contact with me quite a bit over last 2 days trying to get my car to me ASAP. My car is currently on a truck on way to SH but not arrive in time for them to inspect, detail and deliver today.

She is also trying to find a way to deliver it to me if we cannot meet up today. I live a good 150 miles from SH.

Thank you Lucid (And Andrea) for trying so hard!

Thanks for the info. Let us know how they look after doing the trim.
As my DA said, they fit remarkable well, no trimming yet, probably will trim the tabs on the rear mat.
There is a slight pinch where the driver mat flexes on the left side. I have seen this with other owner's pics.

Congrats. I received mine on Monday (came from Miami), but had a few issues .. they took it back (to VA) and I should have it back early next week 🤞
I suggest you look at the Delivery Checklist Post .. it gives a comprehensive list of what to look at/expect.
Also, not sure where in NC you are, but CLT traffic did delay the delivery (and pick up) by a few hours.
I'm in Charlotte and planning to take delivery at Miami and drive to Charlotte. May I ask what were the issues you found?

My "1st" delivery was not great. Ding/Dent on the driver door, chipped front windshield, wrong wheel size, dirty car, etc. I had to reject it and they took it to Tysons Corner VA .. Lucid folks have been great with updates and options .. e.g. they offered to fly me to VA and pick up the car there so I could drive it back to CLT, but I'm not as adventurous as you and opted to have it re-delivered .. should be back this coming week. 🤞

That said, your drive back shouldl be a great road trip .. enjoy it and share your experience; I'd love to hear about the delivery process and the drive back.

btw, there's at least 4 or 5 of us (that I know of) here in Charlotte, so I'm hoping that Lucid considers a service center here in the near future.

The plan right now is to make a decision after my second test drive tomorrow. I’ll report back after we do it.
Current plan is to form a new opinion on(Importance in braces):
1. New Nav (Low)
2. General state of software (High)
3. AC function/heat from the windshield (Low - to decide if we need to setup a tint appt)
4. Sound system (High)
5. Luggage capacity (Low - We’re gonna carry some luggage and see what it can fit)
6. Profile switching (Med)
7. Random fit and finish things from the forum delivery checklist (Med)
One thing worth noting is the test drive unfortunately is unlikely to accurately portray the quality of the sound system, unless they have the car set up with a Tidal HiFi subscription and known Atmos and HiFi resolution tracks which can demonstrate what the car can do. Really all Lucid needs to do is just put @hydbob Tidal playlist on every test drive car with the appropriate subscription/settings and it would likely help sell cars. Bluetooth audio streaming is the worst possible way to evaluate the car’s audio capabilities, as is Spotify free subscription.

Following up on this. (I'm going to stop talking about this on the tracker thread after this, it's off topic)

Car was a Red/Tahoe GT Production model.
The car drives really well. This produciton model was more polished in EVERY single way than the pre-prod we tried back in March.

1. New Nav: Much improved, super fast to navigate within the city. Very laggy touch response, especially in Satellite view.

2. General state of software: Much improved. Responsive albeit slow to switch between major apps (Music, Nav) but totally acceptable.

3. AC function: The AC is definitely a little bit weak but I think as long as you ignore the set temperature and just lower it till you're comfortable it gets the job done. Surprisingly loud for not moving a lot of air at the higher settings. I think there's a lot of loss of pressure from the sheer number of vents everywhere in the car.

4. Sound system: When I first saw the car, this blew me away. Today however it seemed like all the sound was "ahead" of me. There was very little happening near the back of the car. Could be that the bass was cut, didn't try rebooting. Balance slider was centered and moving it back made no difference other than just kill the volume in front.

5. Luggage Capacity: We forgot to carry luggage :)

6. Profile switching: All the studio cars are in guest mode and didn't have more than 1 profile. Weren't able to test this out.

7. Fit and Finish: Broadly speaking, absolutely top notch. Exterior and Interior were excellent. Only problem was the steering wheel buttons for cruse/next/prev/alexa etc were making a very loud creaking and clicking sound when pressed. They felt broken. Studio car didn't have that issue. The climate control and volume buttons in the center feel much better than before. The steering wheel roller buttons also felt much better than before.

8. Adaptive Cruise: Tried out adaptive cruise. Works really well. Worked well last time too.

9. Lane keep: Generally worked well but tended to keep moving me away from the median divider if there was one. I would turn this off.

10. Distracted driving: I have polarized glasses, never triggered the system.

11. Heat from windshield: I'm 6'4", I could feel the windshield get warm but it was not bad at all. Non issue for me. If it does bother me I'll tint it. Car clearly has UV treatment on all glass.

12. Self park: Car is a lot more confident than before. Tried it twice, both times there was a car on 1 side and a pillar on the other (with another car beyond the pillar). 50% success rate :). The first time we nearly made it into the spot and the car did a fantastic job, but then just stopped and starting moving the wheel around for no reason.

Overall the car we drove was far more polished than the one we tried out back in March. It looks, feels, and drives like a premium luxury car (than can transport you and 4 others to stupid speeds in crazy short times). I loved it. It's put my mind at ease and I will likely take delivery.

PS - It bugs me that in every review I watch, people try to "slide" the pilot panel up. That's not how that thing works at all. It's just a "button", just press and hold until the animation finishes and then release to make the panel retract. (gif demonstration)
Dude, I have owned the car since April and didn’t know you could open the pilot panel that way, I’d been making finger smudges all the way up the screen for months. THANK YOU. 🤦‍♂️

Wow, that PDI sure fell through the cracks! I would have rejected it too. Wrong wheels and chipped glass? Hope you get the correct car soon, first I’ve heard of that big of a delivery mistake.

yup .. 1st the Delivery specialist heard of anything like that too. Took a bit to figure out, but the DS and the Tysons Corner folks have been very responsive .. so, so far so good!
I'll update the forum once it is re-delivered.

Which Tidal subscription do you recommend, HiFi or HiFi plus? Much difference?

When the delivery technician was showing me how to use the Pilot Panel, he actually swiped it all the way up. lol

I took delivery yesterday. Very impressed with the interior. The functions were much easier to use/learn than any Tesla I have owned. There were very minor build problems i.e. uneven panel (x3) and rear monitor not working...Haven't really drove it yet because we had to be somewhere right after technician left and I don't want to drive it until I'm more familiar with controls.

I will be driving it later on and then post my initial driving experience...

I was given one window for delivery that doesn’t work so told them I could do meatpacking or short hills if that opens it up. I was going to get it today so I could drive it to central PA when I visit my kids at college.

does the rear monitor work now? Is it something that was resolved during the delivery?

That sucks, it looks like the transporter was bad. These should not not happen while they are delivering the car. Anyways, we can now create a LUCID Owners Charlotte chapter 😄 and meet. Thanks for providing details on your delivery issues.

Yes, with a few exceptions, most of the issues were post-production items; likely to have occurred during transport.
Lucid Owners Charlotte chapter sounds good ;)

Just got off the phone with Ross in Ca (NOT our DA in Denver), who confirmed that we should have a VIN for our Cosmos Silver/Tahoe/19" GT by early next week, with delivery 2-3 weeks after that. First time I've gotten a definite answer regarding delivery from the company. 3 weeks puts us mid Oct, which is 4th quarter for sure.
