Okay, I still choose the Air, but…

... I meant a fan of the original series ....;)

Later in that same universe, color was invented, and we got Vulcans:

cast of "The Cage"; first Star Trek pilot . . . .

And it still remains one of their best episodes. Along with the one about the man who elects to spend eternity battling with his insane alter ego, trapped in a bridge between alternate universes in order to keep our universe from self-annihilating. Almost 60 years later I still think of it.

" ... crewman Number 6 ? I'm on a space ship and my character doesn't have a name ???

We had lighthearted silliness like Batman and Robin (with great actors playing villains).
And we had Rod Serling to prove there are monsters inside your head.

I learned to drive one of these:

No, absolutely not, this is not becoming that thread. This is my thread and I will delete any future minivan posts. That word is banned on this thread moving forward lmao

I don’t want to hate this thread
Slightlyundersizedpeoplemover

Or just "mini van!" (last time I checked, thats two words)

Well if the word "minivan" has been used in this thread then one more comment about 60's/70's great tv shows can be tolerated.

For those who may not know about it the network MeTV (Memorable Entertainment TV) broadcasts those tv shows.
I watch a Twilight Zone episode every weeknight.
Saturday nights I'm watching Batman & Robin followed by Star Trek.
And don't get me started about "Lost In Space". :)
You're off topic Will Robinson.

Both. And that’s really surprising to me.

The Air was, before the Gravity, the biggest car I’d ever had as a DD. My favorite cars I’ve ever owned were the Lotus Elise, and a Mazda 3. Yes, I absolutely loved my Mazda 3. Zoom zoom. I also love the Miata, but I never technically owned one (long story). As you might be able to tell, I’m a “small and nimble car” guy.

The Air I looooove to take canyoning; I drive Skyline Dr here in the South Bay or CA-17 down to Santa Cruz or US-1 all the time just for fun.

Here’s what’s changed - if I were to do US-1 again, I’d take the Gravity; in fact, we just did, on a whim. Why? Frunking. Pulling over on the side of a cliff along the CA coast and just having a cup of hot strawberry cider while watching the surfers and paragliders as the waves come in on a beautiful spring day is just *chef’s kiss*

But for 17? Probably still the Air. It still feels a bit more nimble. Again, I don’t know if that will be true with the Gravity DE.

For skyline? Honestly, either. Because it’s such a “wild” road, the height of the Gravity helps a lot, and I don’t lose anything very noticeable in handling.

Anyway, I really like driving both.

Thank you to you and your wife for all the info and insight.

You mentioned Mazda, have you driven the CX90? That's the only 3 row I've driven that I felt handled like a much smaller vehicle, but my sample size isn't that great, mostly Detroit or Kia (no German 3 rows, e.g.).

Man, I feel like a fetus right now

I haven't driven a CX90; tbh, I should. Given that I love how the rest of the Mazdas I've ever driven handled, I'm certain the CX90 would probably feel great.

The first car I ever owned was a manual transmission Mazda 626, probably a '79, maybe '80. Man, that car was a hoot to drive. No real power, but even back then Mazda was building cars for people who liked to drive. The road feel through the steering wheel was quite good, and the handling was tight, and quite predictable. It was a cheap car, but I had a lot of fun with it.

Now he's really gonna hate this thread 🤣

I would order a Gravity but the kids are gone and I'm too old to keep fixing-up the house and mulching the yard. I only need room for one.
I'm a niche customer:

The first car I bought new was a 1972 Mazda RX2; Motor Trend Car of the Year. Paid right around $3200 for it right after I got out of the Army. And now my Dream P was also the MotorTrend Car Of The Year.

What the hell happened to this thread

It went the way of most threads at some point. However, this one is worth recovering, as you're the only one here who is giving any in-depth insight on what driving a Gravity is like.

A few more questions:

I assume you're driving on the 22/23" wheels with the new Pirelli P Zero PZ5s? I've seen the videos on handling dynamics, but what's your take on ride compliance?

Any semi-controlled measures of real-world highway efficiency against EPA range?

Is the A/C output really as beefed up over the Air as claimed?

Do you know if the HUD will be functional when "regular customer" deliveries start?

I'm thinking about having our Gravity delivered directly to the shop that will put the PPF on it. Lucid has agreed to do that but warned that I will then miss getting set-up assistance upon delivery and will have to bring the car in to a service center later for that. What will already be set up on the car when it comes off the truck? Will it already be linked to my mobile app? Will the EA and Supercharger "plug & charge" functionality already be set up?

And probably more questions to come . . . .
