Okay, I still choose the Air, but…

@borski Is either your DE or the Gravity the type of car that would get you out of bed early on a Sunday morning to go for a drive? If so what type of roads? And what other cars are in that class for you, if any?
Both. And that’s really surprising to me.

The Air was, before the Gravity, the biggest car I’d ever had as a DD. My favorite cars I’ve ever owned were the Lotus Elise, and a Mazda 3. Yes, I absolutely loved my Mazda 3. Zoom zoom. I also love the Miata, but I never technically owned one (long story). As you might be able to tell, I’m a “small and nimble car” guy.

The Air I looooove to take canyoning; I drive Skyline Dr here in the South Bay or CA-17 down to Santa Cruz or US-1 all the time just for fun.

Here’s what’s changed - if I were to do US-1 again, I’d take the Gravity; in fact, we just did, on a whim. Why? Frunking. Pulling over on the side of a cliff along the CA coast and just having a cup of hot strawberry cider while watching the surfers and paragliders as the waves come in on a beautiful spring day is just *chef’s kiss*

But for 17? Probably still the Air. It still feels a bit more nimble. Again, I don’t know if that will be true with the Gravity DE.

For skyline? Honestly, either. Because it’s such a “wild” road, the height of the Gravity helps a lot, and I don’t lose anything very noticeable in handling.

Anyway, I really like driving both.

You'll like the seating position in the Gravity. You still feel like you're sitting low, and the steering wheel is also low, which takes about six seconds to get used to, but then you have a ridiculously fantastic field of view due to the open windshield and no steering wheel in the way.

It's hard to explain, but I strongly recommend sitting in one sometime; you'll see what I mean once you adjust the wheel and seat to your liking. It feels like a sedan seat in the front, position-wise, but you get the view of the upright seating position. Gosh, I really haven't tried to describe it before and that sounds confusing as hell haha. I guess it may just be one of those "go sit in one" things
This cannot be overstated. You have to actually sit in the Gravity to get a full understanding and appreciation. People like to make judgments about the Gravity without actually having seen it in person, and day inside it.

I used to drive Skyline Drive in my first car - 1969 Datsun Roadster. Yeah, very fun road.

what about Minivans? Do you like those?

(sorry couldn't resist)
Heh, I like minivans... that's our other vehicle. A Gravity might replace our minivan one day, but also that will be when our kids are older. They are such practical vehicles...

I guess I'm not sure why "SUV" is a more preferable designation than "minivan". In the past (way back) I owned a couple of minivans (practical at the time) and I've also owned a few SUV's (e.g. Landrover; Jeep Grand Cherokee) when I was into off roading and white water kayaking. Now I don't have the need or desire for either and much prefer a "sports sedan". But my observation is the Gravity looks a lot more like a sporty "minivan" than it does an SUV. And I don't mean that in a negative way at all. If you need a vehicle that can haul more than five people or a lot of stuff, then the Gravity in my opinion would be an excellent choice and I wouldn't worry about how it is perceived by the general pubic ("minivan" or "SUV"). And the driving characteristics seem outstanding based on comments here and reviews.

No, absolutely not, this is not becoming that thread. This is my thread and I will delete any future minivan posts. That word is banned on this thread moving forward lmao

I don’t want to hate this thread

I just can't wait to drive around in my klein-van with my 55 lb Belgian and 15 lb Cavalier.

Tell us about insurance, Air vs Mini

I see your "lmao" and yet I agree with you. I started that thread based on reading several discussions on the topic in YouTube comments and sporadically on this forum. So, I figured in order to have a dedicated place where the topic could be fully discussed and eventually read by those interested, start a thread.

Ironically, I really don't care what other people call my car/suv/van or whatever they want to call it.

So for anyone who wasn't aware of the thread and want to see what others have said, the thread link is above. Now if you just want to irritate @borski , go for it.

Have delete button, will use :p

I think I need to stop visiting our forum and watching OOS and SOC YouTube videos before sleeping, I had a dream tonight that @TribbleTrouble and @borski were kind enough to lend me their Gravity for 24-48 hours to test it out 🤣

That's not a dream, that's a hint! :)
@TribbleTrouble @borski you taking the bait? :)

Think I might try a post like that with the first Gravity owner in my state.

way too young - next generation at best.
