Oops, a cross post. But not everyone can read the WSJ site.

This is the actual recall notice I received from Rivian on our R1T.

What is the problem?
An insufficiently torqued steering knuckle fastener could cause excessive wheel camber, or, in rare instances, a separation, affecting the driver’s ability to control the vehicle, and increasing the risk of a crash.

What will Rivian do?
Rivian will offer Mobile Service appointments, no appointment needed visits to Rivian Service Centers or pop-up service locations, and prioritized appointments at Rivian Service Centers to inspect and, as necessary, sufficiently secure the steering knuckle fasteners for the affected vehicles. For the very small percentage where parts replacements are required, loaner vehicles will be made available while the vehicle is brought into a Rivian Service Center. As needed, trip interruption and towing services will be available at no cost to you.

I like this kind of voluntary recall notice. Aside liability, company demonstrate care about customers’ safety.

Lucid has a recent recall again?
What is the condition?

Lucid has determined that on certain model year 2022 Lucid Air vehicles with subframes manufactured by a supplier, the tow eye attachment bracket at the vehicle subframe may have been manufactured with inadequate adhesive properties, which could result in the unexpected detachment of the tow eye during recovery operations. Such an unexpected detachment could occur without warning and risks causing property damage or injury.

What actions will Lucid take?

When Lucid is ready to perform recall repairs, Lucid will permanently secure the vehicle’s tow eye attachment to the subframe at NO COST to the customer.

What are your next steps?

The tow eye should not be used until the recall repair is completed on your vehicle by a Lucid Service Center. Lucid also advises that the tow eye be physically removed from the vehicle trunk until after the recall repair is completed to ensure that it is not used in the event recovery services are required. The tow eye is in the trunk of your vehicle, located on the underside of the right-hand floor panel.

Lucid expects that it will be ready to begin scheduling repair appointments on or about November 14, 2022. At that time, Lucid will provide official notice of the recall to you via email and U.S. mail.

In the meantime, you can safely drive your vehicle as usual. If it is necessary to load the vehicle onto a flat bed or other tow truck, the recovery service should employ wheel dollies.

If you are a vehicle lessor, Federal Law requires that any vehicle lessor receiving this recall notice must forward a copy of this notice to the lessee within ten days.

What if you no longer own the vehicle?

If you no longer own this vehicle or would like to update vehicle ownership or contact information, please contact Lucid Customer Care at [email protected] or 1-888-99-LUCID (1-888-995-8243).

What if you still have questions?

Lucid expects that it will be ready to begin scheduling repair appointments on or about November 14, 2022.

Just had the recall done on our Rivian. Took all of ten minutes. Very impressed how Rivian prepared their service center in Miami to do the recall. Drive up. Hand over the car to a service person. The car is inspected, the problem is corrected, and you are on your way. The press made a big deal on this recall. Judging how efficient the team was I would be surprised if this recall cost Rivian much more than 100k.
