My version of venting to Lucid Software Team on Audio Issues

Let me add an observation based on several decades of pursuit of happiness through home audio gear obsession, aka " would you like to hear my system?" ( telling in itself = it's not about the music ).

Stop hearing the system.

Listen to the music.

Listen to Miles Davis

... not play

It sounds like Lucid Audio team will be doing Q&A I might miss it so If anyone able to talk about mobile signal audio going missing sure :) @Bobby and co
The audio team is not the right team for this. They deal with sound system tuning, not media players / connectivity.

I posted the below in a different thread last November:
I frequently lose internet connection when listening to Sirius/xm. It tends to happen when I first start on a trip from my house. Initially sound is fine. Then after about three minutes I get the message you mention in your post. This has been happening since 12/22 when I first got the car. I have never had to reboot. It generally comes back on after I drive for another five/ten minutes. Other thing that randomly works: Alexsa play xxx̌ on spotify where xxx is some song title. Also switching to FM then back to Sirius. I'm guessing it happens when switching cell towers since it seems to happen at the same location every time.

@blueice89 I've had my vehicle for a little over 2 months and I can reliably say the audio system and related software is easily the biggest problem part of the car. I've had numerous issues with connectivity, volume playback level, speaker balancing, muffled audio etc.

I'm actually amazed how many different audio problems ive had that seem to come and go intermittently despite me having the latest software.

So I definitely agree with your assessment. The audio system in general is a disappointment.

That's kind of amazing. I am by no means dismissing your experience; it just boggles my mind that my audio system has been nothing but sublime, once the tape fixes were applied. I just haven't had any issues in years, but I also don't listen to radio. Hm.

I appreciate the feedback shared here. If you are experiencing audio cutting out or any other audio issue, may I ask that you keep a running log of the incidents? Please note the day and time along with the circumstances under which the issue occurred? What was the audio source (radio, native app, CarPlay, etc.)? Did the issue persist after switching sources? Were you able to verify that your car had internet connectivity? Where you able to resolve the issue? Please share this information with Customer Care or with me via direct message along with your VIN. This will help with troubleshooting.

This is correct. Although we appreciate everyone's questions and feedback, we may not be able to address it all within the context of the AMA.

I've had my car since Oct 31, 2024. This is a common problem in my car along with other iterations of it. I've submitted this as an issue and had a tech come out and did a reset on my car. This solved this specific issue for about 2 weeks and it came back again twice this week. This morning I had no audio what so ever from any audio input. I was resetting my car 2-3 times a week on average because of these Spotify / audio issues. I had a post previously where only 2 speakers worked.

Specific to my experience - Android Pixel 8 Pro User:
  • I'm using the built-in Spotify app in the car. I'm not using my Android phone to connect via bluetooth. My normal experience is - listen to podcast, at some point in the podcast the voice goes silent, I try to start/stop the audio, audio doesn't restart. Sometimes Spotify app will crash and say 'server error' or audio simply doesn't come back. This happens weekly. My drives tend to be short (< 15 min) so when this happens, I wait I get to my destination and when I get back to the car later, the audio is working again.
    • I've been able to replicate this on the regular when listening to podcasts. Hit the triple dots and skip 15sec forward (or backward). The audio will cut out after a few minutes and then I'll get the server error.
  • This morning, I had no audio from any inputs - tunein, fm, spotify, etc. This happened after before 2.6.0 but seems to have started again. Happened at 6:20AM EST this morning.
    • When I was having speaker issues, I couldn't hear phone calls. For those of us having the all around failure, it would be good for someoen to try and make a call to confirm if the speakers are not working at all or if it's limited to radio audio inputs.
I turn off stop/pause audio from the steering wheel before leaving my car. Two reasons - 1. I don't want to have audio the very second i sit in my car. 2. when i have to open the car for whatever reason, i don't want my podcast to start playing and have to go back to the right time.
My biggest issue with all of this is that I need to reset the car. 99% of the time, you don't realize it's a problem until you start driving. It's super inconvenient to realize the audio isn't working

For those who continue to say you never experience problems, it would be great to know how you are listening to your music/audio. Carplay, direct bluetooth from phone, actually streaming from the various apps built into the car. Do you have an Apple Phone or an Android phone? etc. Similar to how everyone seems to start getting dismissive when people have issues, a response of - I never have this problem - is equally unhelpful.

For the Lucid team troubleshooting, my gut is telling me this is related to Spotify and the Spotify account to your phone. I would bet that in the background Spotify is trying to sync between your car and your spotify account. Something isn't being handled probably and is hard crashing the car app. This might just be gas, but there is definitely something going on with the Spotify built-in app.

For those of us having issue, I know it's frustrating, but I've lived the support life. Troubleshooting issues with limited details doesn't help. In this scenario, it's complicated with apps versus just a bluetooth stream. I would recommend those of us having the problem, add in WAY more details to what we're doing, how we're listening, what brand/model device is being used in car. It might be that this is limited to Android users who play Spotify. Maybe its everyone. But there's no way to help figure this out if we limit it to we're having audio issues.

Being a new owner since last October, my 2024 Touring was reliable on everything but without a few reset due to navigation (gps lost) and complete audio failure not at the same time, and maybe 2-3 times. Was very happy with the latest update (presently on 2.6.1) but can't say if it is related to software upgrade. Before buying I was able to listen both audio system offered and find both very deceptive. I went for the Pro hoping software update will improve it and I was right, now the sound is very good. The only thing I'd like to have is a more adjustable equalizer and of course an audio paging that is up to date regarding (easy) operation and ergonomic as well as a more driver oriented (position) Dolby Atmos (Tidal app). The other things I'd like is not related to "sound" engineers.

Android and Spotify user here. Leased a 2023 AT for 2 years, recently released on a 2025 AT. Have had the intermittent audio described on both cars - no audio from any source from the moment of waking up the car to the point I realize it when I am halfway out of my neighborhood. Unpredictable when. Definitely frustrating but of course only happens infrequently enough to just be annoying. Had a new one crop up the other day, the sound only played when I actually touched the touchscreen. I suspect that one may be wrapped up in a bigger user profile issue that Lucid is helping me with, we'll see. But still the Best Damn Car.

You’re totally right. Great points.

I listen via Tidal natively, usually. I have also used CarPlay (for Apple Music and YouTube) and USB regularly. I haven’t had any cutouts in years.

I’m on an iPhone.

Let me know if anything else would be helpful.

I'm genuinely happy for you and a bit jealous! I'm not proud the audio system is very hot and cold it just is what it is.

I drive the same 70 miles to and from work every weekend in a totally urban area and haven't had any issue with my satellite radio for a couple weeks.

Yesterday as soon as I leave my house, NO signal connectivity at all just displays unknown or no connection on my Sirius-XM for the entire drive to and from work. Then, as soon as I pull up to my house where it connects to home Wi-Fi the satellite radio magically connects. I assume this means the car itself is having difficulty connecting to whatever cellular network it's trying to use?

Also I seem to have very very few terrestrial am/fm radio stations coming in as well even my local radio stations only a small number of them seem to be coming in.

Lastly, I noticed with Bluetooth audio the volume level on videos played through YouTube is way way louder than the audio level using YouTube TV app. Not sure if that's the apps or the car or what but it's strange!

I have had two different issues.

The no sound at all issue, nothing at all, including blinker signals - 4x in two years and always resolved by logo reset. Was more frequent in a past software edition but hasn't been an issue for the last 4-6 months for me.

The other more frequent issue, is trying to start a podcast as I'm driving away from home. In this case, it acts like it's buffering but never starts. Switching to a different podcast or changing the input solves the problem. I'm guessing it's a bug when switching from wi-fi to cellular when first initiating the podcast. If the podcast is already going before driving away, it never stops 🤷‍♂️

I really don't want it to sound like I'm enjoying schadenfreude or something; I just am amazed at how different these experiences can be.

This actually has happened to me; the switchoff between Wifi and Cellular seems to have issues sometimes. Try turning off wifi before you leave the garage (like the night before), and see if that helps. The handoff isn't always rough, but it is occasionally.

Make sure your phone's volume is correctly set. Bluetooth, unfortunately, no matter which car it's in, allows for control of the volume via both the phone and the car.

Lucid did a cellular reset on my car during the last service visit. It's possible you may need that for your car. I believe there is a thread on these forums explaining the module reset process.

I've had my car for almost three years now and I share in the frustrations posted on this thread. I appreciate those willing to share their negative experiences knowing that there is a vocal community on this forum that wants to shout down any complaints. It seems like folks here take it personally when others have an issue with their car.
Some days I get in my car and I can't change the radio station until I do a reset by holding down the Air button for 20 seconds. Then all seems to work again. This happens every 6 weeks and has been going on for over two years. I first posted on this in March, 2023.
Some days I get no audio at all from any sorce
Two days ago my Car Play just stopped working. When I go into Bluetooth settings and try to connect my iPhone with the car play logo, the screen takes me back to the About screen and my Car Play will not connect. I tried the Air reset and that didn't work so now I just live without Car Play.
I've just accepted that this is what I should expect from my Lucid. When people ask me how I like the car I typically say that it drives great, but the software is really buggy. So if you want to listen to the radio or use Car Play, a Lucid is probably not for you.

Did you try unsyncing and then resyncing your contacts and messages? Apparently your contacts have to be synced before carplay can work...?

**DISCLAIMER** I'm not a lucid tech. just a user with frustrations of my own.
Definitely understand the frustration. Just want to summarize some of the tech details:
  • Using: Apple iPhone w/ CarPlay
  • issues with no audio at all from any source
  • Carplay issues with connections
If you're willing, can you try to completely remove your phone from car and try to resync it again including the above suggestion about syncing contacts. There may be an issue with audio source that's causing a weird issue.

If issues like this continue, it's important to document the time/date of when it happened and your resolution steps (if possible). If your carplay still doesn't work after trying to remove and readd it, I would highly recommend contacting your service center for support. I don't believe I've seen threads on this forum where CarPlay is outright failing.
