Lucid Home Charger Delayed

Sorry. Just a bit upset about this process. For such a great car, getting me the preferred charger shouldn't be such a pain in the butt. And customer service is dead silent.

I almost bought the Mach E. Thry have plenty of chargers. And if they had the option of giving me 2500 off the car if I elected to get a different charger. Instead lucid gives me credit that had no actual value if the product isn't currently for sale.

OK, you said it several times. I understand that you’re frustrated that you can’t get your charger right now. There are several people here who have offered to help you. January is right around the corner. Look away, enjoy your holidays, and soon enough you will have the charger you desire.

I don't think this is a good take.

You're acting like he's waiting for the next iPhone.

He's not waiting for a luxury item, he's waiting for what's effectively a missing critical piece of a vehicle which leaves it disabled by not being there.

When I first got my 2018 Tesla Model 3, that had no Wall Chargers in stock and I had to wait three months before the solved that (I bought another brand). When my wife first got her 2023 Ioniq 5 we had to way 45 days for the V2L adapter that we ordered with the car.

This stuff is NOT a Lucid issue. It’s a Just In Time Inventory issue that soooo many manufacturers have these days. It’s annoying as all get out — and piss poor management IMHO — BUT, it’s nowhere near unique to Lucid.

I DO, however, they should let you opt for something other than the $1000 charging credit as those of us who already have home chargers have no need of another…

I agree it's not unique to Lucid, but doesn't mean we should let them (or anyone else) off the hook for it.

Lucid's particular policy around how they do the coupon, and how utterly terrible the shop is in terms of customer service, however. That's all Lucid.

I like Lucid's engineering goal of making every piece the best. As a customer, I intend to hold them to the same standard for every aspect of their business. Sales, store, service, etc.

Hopefully they embrace that and realize it can't just be engineering that carries them. None of us need to apologize for their shortcomings, but we do need to let them know when they fall short.

I’m not acting like anything. Several members of the forum have brand new charges in the box and have offered to get it to this owner and he can reciprocate when he finally receives his. Also, the car comes with a charger that can be used immediately. I understand the desire to install the faster charger, but it isn’t an absolute requirement to utilize the car.

I bought my car last week, but because of the way Lucid does their charging credit, I couldn't buy the charger until after I picked up the car. So its been a week of level 1 charging at home, with a bit of range anxiety. I might have to top off at a friend's level 2 or hit up an EA (although none close by). But no big deal though, the charger is going to ship Nov 20th. I can deal with this for a week or 2.

Until I see this this morning. Shipping date moved to end of January? I guess I got to go buy a different charger and just eat the credit. I'm not dealing with this for another few months. My electrician recommends the Tesla Universal Charger. Does that sounds right? Will I need an adapter? Will it be slow? I thought i read the Lucid is painfully slow at Lucid superchargers, not sure if that applies to all Tesla chargers.

The Tesla Universal charger will work. Future proof if and when you get a new Lucid with the NACS. The Tesla one wont charge as fast and the Lucid one.

If i can't buy it until January using the credit they gave me, it currently doesn't exist as a purchasable product.
Just another simple option that is safe with an commercial nema 14-50 outlet and 50 amp ground and arc fault protected breaker, if you have nearby access..i decided this route since the 14-50 plug came with the vehicle and provides enough kw to charge overnight. A hardwired level 2 is ideal, i just chose this option since i could diy in under 2 hours..( 100 amp subpanel already in garage).
