It was kinda "meh" for me. Why do 5 watts when you can do 50? I tried it, but the main problem is that I had to use an MFJ antenna mount clip and a rubber duck. It just wasn't worth the inconvenience and inefficiency. Consider using my antenna setup with your HT. The feedline is 13' of RG316 with an SMA.

I'm not aware of any thread apart from this one. The earlier thread (precursor to this one) that I started in late-Feb has become OBE so it can just sit there untouched. If you can setup the ham radio category that'd be great.

I really don't care what we call it. Just be advised not to expect any substantive ham radio discussions that are not related to installing ham radio equipment in Lucid vehicles. There are beaucoup other forums out there that are ham radio specific, and that's where one would find ham radio discussions. That's why I had proposed “Ham Radio Installations” as the title. If we just call it "Lucid Hams", then we should also have categories for "Lucid Boaters", Lucid Hang Gliders", "Lucid Line Dancers"........
Most Storm Chasers understand thunderstorm structure and dynamics and therefore can avoid the hail cores.
That's fine. Lucid hams without installations can comment, and we can get their call letters.

Installation is not that hard. It was easy to run and hide a thick (for the 10A current) 12V cable from the trunk to the front.
I didn't need to run a power cable. I just put the FTM-500 TR unit in the RH trunk cubby, right next to the 12v outlet. It was just simpler for me. '
The trunk mount would have worked well also, but I had other needs for the 12V up front, and did not want to run speaker and conrol cables to the rear. So I guess this means that two of us have installed radios in our Airs.
