Welp, yesterday got rear ended by a Metro Bus while waiting to turn left into a street. Glad that my Lucid was able to keep me safe even from a metro bus. Not sure but the car may be totaled due to frame damage from the impact

Aww that sucks. I'm sorry to hear that. I'm glad you were not injured.

If you don't mind me asking, what dash cam system do you use. I've never had one. But watching that video makes me realize how useful it could be.

First of all, good to see you in healthy condition.

Second, i can only imagine how much does the entire battery pack would cost you?!!

Wow! Glad you are okay! At least you have a record of what happened and a an entity that hit you that can pay for its damages. It won't be a hit and run or a hit by an uninsured driver. Either the bus driver had a sudden heart attack or stroke or was not paying attention to the road.

I have a friend who many years ago hit a spot of black ice and spun out and totaled his car. He said that his Porsche 911 saved his life and promptly went out and got another. So...which model Lucid are you going to get?

I was using the blackvue dr970x-2ch attached to a battery pack in the rear to use with parking mode

Yeah, will have to get the car assessed to see how much damaged was done

Glad to hear everyone is OK. did you get your dash cam installed by a professional installer or did you installed it yourself?

Glad that you were not hurt.
Ask your insurance to total it. Metro should definitely pay up.
Even after repairs, the car's value will depreciate considerably because it was hit by a "big bus". Keeping it also means doing a diminished value claim, whose terms aren't always favorable to you.

Very serendipitous event, no? Gravity orders open up tomorrow!!!

The problem with it being totaled is that insurance companies will claim that the replacement value is very low, possibly lower than the balance on an auto loan. When I got mine, I probably could have saved $25,000 on a car by getting a used one, but it's not so simple. I ended up getting a new one in order to get the one I wanted, but there are some things that don't get factored into a settlement. For example, if you get a low interest loan instead of a cash back offer (not the case with Lucid, but I've been there) because you'd save more money in to long run with a subsidized loan, then you know that the subsidized loan has a dollar value that the insurance company won't account for. In my case, I looked at the cost of adding Dream Drive Pro and Surround Sound Pro (not a possibility with later cars) and swapping wheels, and when all factors were considered, a used car wasn't the bargain that it seemed to be.

If they do want to total it, have them find an exact replacement with the same features, interior, and color. I once had a car totaled and the insurance company gave me a low offer. I pointed out that the cars they found weren't equivalent, and if they want to give me the value of the closest one they found, I'd take the money as long as they added the cost of ordering seats from the factory and having them swapped, thus making it comparable. Instead, they gave me enough for a new car.

From the photos I don't think that the battery pack is damaged and I don't think it will be a total loss. If they insurance company low balls and calls it a write off, there are enough demo vehicles you can buy from Lucid at this point. I am glad that no one is hurt.
