Let's talk about the Air's interior compared to competing luxury cars

I love Audi’s MMI and navigation, very intuitive and it’s awesome at finding alternate routes and avoiding traffic, in fact I think it’s the best native auto navigation software I’ve used, and estimated time/distance super well, whereas MBs always overestimates the time to arrival, it seems to ignore your driving habits. Anytime I need a rental car I use Silvercar so you can get an Audi every time.

Me too. A great way to test drive Audis.

Tesla put the turn signal camera view on the large screen in the middle of the car. Can't think of a worse place to have to look at while changing lanes.
I'd contend looking opposite to your direction of motion is possibly worse ;P

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but for those thinking about trading in your air to purchase a Gravity, be prepared for some unreal depreciation. I have a loaded '23 Touring (glass canopy, SSP, DDP, tahoe leather, PPF, ceramic), 3.25 years young with 49,000 miles on it. I inquired about trading it in towards the purchase of a Gravity. I thought I was prepared for horrific depreciation, but not prepared enough - Lucid was offering $26,000+/- on my trade in. Given that I paid full freight of $112,000+/- at the end of December'22, this was a level of pain I couln't swallow. OUCH!
I was prepared to take a haircut, but wasn't planning on getting scalped. So I'll continue my wonderful relationship with my lovely ZR Air for several more years. After all, the car can't decline to less than a $0 value, can it ????????

I'm not sure who they used to value it, but that is not an accurate valuation. From JD Power:

Just one example. KBB is in the 30s. Which service you use to value it matters a lot, since there is a relatively small amount of data to pull from.

Keep it
It still has 4+ yrs or 50 K miles remaining on the Battery / Motors Warranty

that just means they don't want it, see what Carmax will give you.

Carmax usually offer %15 less than they can sell it for.

I looked at ones with your spec on CarMax, and any of them under 55k were already pending as sold. So don't feel bad, its just that Lucid didn't want to take it on trade. I bet you Carvana will give you mid to high 40s instantly.

I was shocked by their figure. I had ballparked a fair # at the very high $40s or low $50s.

I closed 2 days ago on a GGT and traded my 2023 AT (no DDP). It only had 6000 miles. Lucid gave me $44,500 i trade. > 55% depreciation in 3 years, which caused me to lease this time. $26,000 is crazy-low

One of the reasons I dumped the Air as quickly as I could and traded it for a Gravity. I owned the Air and seeing how brutal the depreciation was, it’s why I opted to lease the Gravity and make it BoA’s problem to deal with at the end of the lease. No way is the car going to be worth what the residual is.

I had a fully loaded Air GT with 13K miles and got $60K for it when traded June last year with Lucid. Surprisingly, CarMax offered me $45K at the time. Similar to you, I was expecting high depreciation but nowhere near what we’ve been seeing on Lucid’s. When you see Dream Edition Gravity’s selling for $96K it’s following the same path as the Air.

Yes you will generally get ridiculous low numbers when trading back to the dealer. I got offered insulting money ( below wholesale) on both my teslas model s as well as my Air GT. That’s why I went with a private sale. Even with a tax write off on the trade in you will still do better. It’s just more hassle. I know the dealer/ company has to make money on a trade in but oft times they are extremely predatory about it. I traded a beautiful loaded Range Rover Evoque in on a Velar only to see the dealer wash my car and slap a 20 k higher sticker on it for resale. Mercedes also tried the same with me. It’s particularly galling as I keep my cars in showroom condition ( ceramic coat , clear wrap on the front, interior detailed) only see the dealer pick apart the car like a jeweler trying to find flaws in a diamond. So I put up with tire kickers in order to find the right home for my baby. The stories I could tell you about private sales are also annoying “ there is a slight scratch in the bumper you can just see if you get down on your hands and knees. Would you mind repainting the front bumper?” Etc etc

I too, am amazed by the Air's depreciation. I haven't done the homework. Is Lucid (Air and Gravity) depreciation significantly worse than other EVs? If so, is it really a no-confidence vote for the brand?

Anyone who has owned higher end cars has experienced high depreciation, although perhaps not as steep as for the Air. I believe that most of us knew that going in. It will be interesting to see what EV demand does if gas stays high or goes higher, but I would not expect an Air to benefit meaningfully despite its efficiency. I just enjoy my AGT and plan to keep it until there is a material upgrade in the next Air, which I am confident will be the case.
