New Lucid owner. Enjoying the ride so far.

I was shoveling snow when I noticed key fob auto detect activating and deactivating when I walked by the car. It is working as it should but I’m curious if turning on and off a bunch of times could cause issues. I know I can turn that feature off but just wondering.

Thanks for the great forum.

Nah no issues. Maybe a bit of battery drain as the systems are constantly powering up and turning off. But that’s about it

Many on here keep their key FOB in a faraday case to prevent this behavior.

If you click the fob once to lock the doors, it will stop the cycle of unlocking and locking for the next 15 minutes.

Or you can turn off passive unlock if this drives you nuts and you want it to stop forever.

I don't understand this. If you put the fob in a faraday case, you cannot interact with it and it no longer proximity locks/unlocks the car. Why even carry it at that point? Just for the scenario of the mobile key and Lucid app and keycard refusing to work at the same time?

I didn’t say that I do this, only that some folks here do. They then, presumably remove the FOB from the case when they want the car to “see” it.

I use the mobile key exclusively and have never had a hitch.

Mobile Key has less range than the physical key. Physical key will unlock the car from like 100ft away if you’re moving around. Mobile key seems to have about a 20 feet range for proximity unlocking. Less likely for it to trigger unlock/locking from being nearby

Thanks for the info. I can live with it. Good to know the key fob will stop it for 15 minutes.

I have discovered that the fob turns the car on when wihthn 30 feet while i am at home. So, i make a point to keep the key about 50 feet from the car when i am home. my low tech 'faraday' case. I have had my Air Pure RWD for 3.5 months and had to replace the battery in the fob twice already!
