Just got your Air? Consider buying this stuff

He folks I just received the outdoor car cover (afraid to unleash it from the tote bag)
and the Alpaca blanket.

The blanket is amazing. I plan to keep it in the back seat for the grandparents. I am their uber driver now.

Also I got the Motor Trend floor mats. Have no idea if they fit because car is MIA. They are heavy. The logo is a major flaw. I have tried acetone; benzene/ and tolulene, but no good. I'm thinking heat now (I'm assuming it's attached but may be it's molded all in one go.

I ended up getting the trimmable Weathertech mats until the custom 3D ones are made.

trimmable Weathertech
So did I and I notice the mat drifts toward the pedals on the driver side even with the included 'claws' installed under the mat

The side pocket on driver side door
Perhaps one in passanger door too. And a small tarp for glass protection and gloves. If the side windows are the type getting into 1000 pieces, you may have glass all over your lap and seat.

I haven't noticed that with the mats but I'll keep an eye out for it. That could get annoying.

I did see one post in this thread about a dashcam - I believe dashcams are essential in Texas, especially since where I live hit-and-runs are common and police here have a policy of not responding to hit-and-runs unless there is an injury/death.

That said, and apologies if this is the wrong forum, but I'd rather not get an external dashcam in a car that has like 18 cameras installed. Any news on whether Lucid plans to add "last 15 minute" recording capability to their cameras?

Curious .. I see some folks purchased the Trimmable Weathertechs .. and photos seem pretty good.

My Delivery Specialist sent me a link to a different set BDK Proliner of mats .. has anyone tried these?

Nothing has been announced on that front publicly. But given Tesla has had that feature for a while now, I can’t imagine it’s not on the road map somewhere. It’s just a no-brainer for Lucid.

Clear for a "running" car (though there is a whole question of storage & a UI to extract the data, etc), but much harder for a "parked" car (vampire energy consumption, etc... is it sufficient to only start recording if the car is either "broken into" or "hit"?

Sentry Mode on a Tesla will indeed drain your battery a bit. It's a tradeoff, for sure. When I parked my car at the airport for a week, I noticed the car would lose 5-6 miles per day with Sentry Mode engaged. When I turned it off, it lost a mile every other day or so.

Given the range of the Air, I think it's likely a tradeoff many will be willing to make.

As far as storage goes, that's a good question. Teslas store all their cam footage on an external USB stick you plug into one of the ports in the car. Whether Lucid can support that, I have no idea. The ports for now are for power charging small devices only. But my understanding is that this was a security decision made at the time of initial launch. Those ports may very well be capable of pushing data to the car's computer with an update of some kind.

I doubt the onboard storage has enough room to store as much footage as something like Sentry Mode would require. Sentry Mode is pretty smart about deleting older clips, not saving clips that don't include any "incidents" (i.e. no one comes near your car) etc.

I'm not saying it's a simple thing to add. There's good reason they punted on it so far. But I think once they get the software stabilized a bit, they will want to look into adding it. Just for competitive reasons alone.

Didn't see this in this thread, but would mention that Lucid released a tire sealant kit in their store, https://store.lucidmotors.com/tire-repair-kit/. Looks pretty identical to the one that comes with my Chevy Volt. Obviously not the same thing as a spare, but for me I think the tire sealant kit plus 24/7 roadside assistance is adequate.

I have read some negative things about tire sealant...tire techs hate the stuff...does it make the wheel unusable? I guess you don't want to be in a situation where you must travel some miles with a ruined tire = need a spare or sealant. Else just wait for assistance...it's a nice place to wait...I've been doing it 4 days now trapped in the garage by Ian and waiting for a spot at the detailer.
but I digress
I don't think I'd use sealant on my Lucid. Now you guys have me thinking about a spare... Glad I went with the 19"

FWIW, I've had to use tire sealant before when a carpentry nail got stuck in my tire. It allowed me to get pressure to my tire so I could drive to a shop near my house. I was thinking the tire would need to be replaced, but the shop ended up just patching it (for free) because the tire was otherwise in good shape, and since then the tire's been fine.

Obviously YMMV, but tire sealant definitely doesn't make a tire unusable long term.
