Issues With New Car

Dude that’s awesome. And you are a class act for following up like this
I felt like I was suddenly dealing with a completely different company than I was just a month ago. It's almost surreal.

This is a real interaction:
"we are really sorry, I swear we are better than this."
-yes I know but now the part didn't come I am getting frustrated again come on
"Trust us, trust me, we are better than this"
-okay guys made it, but the part I wanted to buy you didn't send it with the tech? What is going on?
"It will arrive separately to your home"
(service arrives, on time, finishes on time, does literally everything I wanted even the extra finicky stuff, gave me his personal cell in case I needed to follow up cuz they were having issues with Zoom)
-I'm starting to get impressed like woah is this the real Lucid? Whaaaa?
(today there's a brand new wheel upgrade kit waiting for me on my porch. Balance due? $0"

All of this was crazy headaches and comedy of errors really was just a fluke, its crazy but its true. Lucid really is doing what it takes to be a world class luxury experience.

My biggest takeaway here is that Lucid never stopped trying to make it right, even after multiple crazy mistakes. They never stopped, and even took it a step further and exceeded even my own expectations.

...they really do compromise nothing.

Welcome to the club, fanboi
Yea well I also skipped the part where they left and I had to call them to come back because they didn’t actually replace a part-a bent weatherstrip. They just didn’t do it.

Then I drive the car today first time since they left and the volume knob is installed crooked in the dash, it drags and there’s tool gouges in it.

So more sloppy work. Get out here again. No company has made me more polarized in opinion than Lucid.

Hah the roof bow is on crooked, there is rubber urethane glue that dripped out the back and is dried to the glass, and they scratched the brake light housing all the way around when trying to replace the trunk weatherstrip.

Unreal.

Uh, the bow is peeling off already. You guys think this is safe to drive? Should I tape the edge down maybe?

That bow is fine (to drive with).

Sucks about the rest. Call em back and let em know; I'm sure they'll fix it, but yeah, unfortunate.

This was the best work their mobile techs could do. And maybe that’s why they left before I got home, and 4 hours early. They also broke the volume wheel in the dashboard and that has to be replaced. They of course didn’t mention this and just left.

I did not post the other pics of the urethane glue running down the rear glass, or the glue running out of the bow into the water channel on one side, or the scratches all over my car from working on the roof with a belt buckle on. I didn’t just want to pile on.

My biggest disappointment was Their promise of luxury service and feeling I got tricked. I was told for repairs I would get the car picked up, loaned an Air or equivalent, then vehicle returned. At one point I had a pickup scheduled and Enterprise car, but when I never got any details on the rental and a transport never called, i found out they just never did anything. Service guy quit, they weren’t honoring his appointments, etc etc. They rescheduled another mobile service twice and they were a day late and missing parts, broke the car and left. I was promised a luxury experience and this isn’t it. I could have fixed it better myself.

I have a meeting with a district manager Monday on zoom, I just want what I was promised. But given the amateur and apparently unsupervised nature of their mobile techs in this region, there’s no way I am keeping this car after lease. Absolutely not.. As usual with Lucid, they want to help, they’re all nice people, but the company cannot execute their plans. I was a bit surprised they sent a mobile guy to do body repairs-and I think the tech was too. He even said “we’ve never done these outside the service center before”- yeah, no joke. It was 50 degrees in my garage with poor lighting and they tried to make this poor tech panel bond a roof bow? Of course it didn’t work. They tried but when the one glue kit and one panel didn’t bind right, what could they do 500 miles from a service center with no way to grab another volume knob or glue kit? They were stuck too.

I will throw them up actually. Here’s my brand new, 2026 Lucid, $97,400 car, after roughly 4 hours with their mobile service. They were supposed to replace peeling hvac buttons, replace roof bow, repair trunk trim. They left before I could see the car. The volume knob is now jammed in crooked with pick marks in it. They didn’t even complete the check list they were sent with. I had to call them and ask them to come back and replace a door trim piece. They literally put it on crooked in front of me, I pointed it out that it’s overhanging and touching the other door and not straight. The tech goes “well it’s pretty good I think but okay fine” then put it on straight. Took thirty seconds yet they argued with me about it. Ridiculous.

They left and I had to call again and said hey the roof bow looks like it’s peeling up? They said “oh it’s fine your first one just wasn’t assembled right at the factory.” They didn’t come back or look or anything just blew me off. Well…

I’m sorry you had a bad experience with a mobile tech. That is not the usual experience. I hope your experience improves.

I hope that based on the fact that there is a history of Lucid having great service, you may accept that this is, perhaps, an exception, but that is up to you, of course.

Let us know how it goes

I was going to ask them to just send me the parts (HVAC and bow need replaced again) and I would just do the HVAC myself, and have a local shop install the bow. The techs did say they had never installed a bow outside of the shop and weren't sure how it would go, but I guess we know now!

Unfortunately the scratches from their tools are too deep into the plastic around the brake light housing for me to polish out, so that has to be replaced too. Guess we will see when they can get it in.

Minor update: Lucid has agreed to replace the parts damaged by their mobile tech. They were unaware of the situation. They do, in fact, provide Mobile Techs with a cell phone, and are unsure why the tech was calling and texting me about it from his personal phone. They also confirmed the roof bow was not installed per their specs. The corners were supposed to be weighted down to prevent this, and they were not. I got zero pushback about it.

It went okay until the issue of shipping the car. Instead of offering a loaner or an Enterprise rental-per warranty agreement- they literally asked me "do you have another car you can drive for a while when we ship yours to a service center?". Imagine asking a customer that. Unbelievable. I said I expect a rental or loaner car as I was promised. So they are trying to get one to me.

I have others cars that I can drive while my Air is in service. I would much rather drive my own car versus an enterprise rental. My first choice is to get an Air loaner. That is difficult when you are in an adjacent state to the service center. It is not an unreasonable question at all. Lucid will take care of you if you need/want a loaner or rental. Asking the question makes sense so that Lucid can provide what is best for you.

Yes, I had originally hesitated to buy one in a State without a service center, but the sales pitch included "we will show up with a Lucid on the truck to loan you, and pick yours up". Reminds me of the disconnect in my own business between sales and underwriting, for example. Last time they were to pick the vehicle up they offered Enterprise as an option, which I accepted, but it ended up not happening.

I think the question was meant to access your need for a loaner; Not not to provide you one.

So the transport calls a day early saying they need to pick the car up today. I’m at work. No loaner until tomorrow.

I say okay. I leave work, go home-swap my stuff into my Tesla with expired tags, go back to work. Annoyed but at least it’s getting done.

An hour later instead of picking the car up, Lucid Roadside Assistance calls and cancels the pickup because they ordered the wrong truck.

They don’t even know when they’re going to get it now.

This company is pathetic.

Update 2: The general manager very nicely called me on his day off to let me know they are trying to figure out why I never got registration (been 2 months, nobody knows). Then he reminds me that closed transport is coming tomorrow. I said...did nobody inform you of what just happened...? He goes "no, its my day off but I didn't want to leave you hanging". So apparently nobody told him that Lucid Roadside had called and made an appointment then cancelled after I went home. He also said my loaner would come on Friday, but service center says Thursday (?), so nobody actually knows when that is coming now either. Thursday or Friday. Probably. Maybe.

Got my loaner yesterday. It lasted one day and is now broken thinking the frunk is open. I’m stuck in another city and the car won’t go over 13mph.

To clarify: the Loaner Lucid is broken. 2022 AGT. Customer Service verified the car is in some sort of safety mode, they’ll have to tow it back to Washington.

Push down hard on the hood above the L and the D. It should latch. The issue is it needs its latches replaced, most likely. It's a known issue; unfortunate it happened to you on a loaner.

Anyway, if you get it to latch, it should drive fine.
