This is excellent news since InsideEVs has recently posted some reports showing very slow charging (likely from either being old or from starting at a high state of charge).
 
It would be great to see this verified by existing owners. Thus far we’ve had some owner’s results that casts some doubt. It’s early on and I’m sure we’ll be seeing many more results from charging sessions.

Yes, I agree and hopefully some of the early owners can chime in.
 
Soon...I have about 250 miles left on this charge and once I get it down to around 50, I'm going to charge up to 80% SOC at a 150kwh charger and see my results
 
I’ve been waiting to see this data. Can’t wait! Can you put it on one of the 350 kw EA chargers?
 
Tom is doing that test, I might as well do the 150 test lol. And I'm no ev specialist
 
I think it might be more useful to do the test at a 150kW EA charger since they’re far more prolific across the country than 350kW chargers. In NY I’ve yet to see a 350kW charger.

Based on my daily habits I could charge once week to once every 10 days!
 
Yea me too. I'm kind of upset at myself for putting in a wall charger when I won't need to charge except every 10-14 days.

Yes, picture showed 80% SOC. But the charge rate was lower than what a home charger might yield. Hopefully, Tom's test will show a better result 80 - 100%. I plan to take some trips and with 400 miles of range on Touring, there are sections where I don't want to leave the EA station at 80% and I don't want to wait 3 hours to charge.

I noticed ABRP now has a faster arrival function. On podcast this morning Tom confirmed the quick 20 minutes so what's better two short stops or one long?
 
Sometimes when you're not sure if the next charger you arrive at will be operational, it might be better to make one long stop and fully charge. You folks that have never driven BEVs will find that out in short order. The charger infrastructure is not particularly reliable, so when you arrive at an operational charger, grab it and milk it for all its worth. I'm on my 3rd BEV and this is the unfortunate fact of life in the BEV world. It's certainly gotten better, but it's far from perfect and not like the reliability of your next gas stop. ;)

This is where checking an App like PlugShare and looking at the rating for the charger along with recent comments/checkins will give you a sense of the reliability of a specific charging site.

Absolutely, but it's important to remember that even apps like those aren't 100% and when you arrive at the charger it may be inoperative. It's happened to me. I would never advise a BEV owner to arrive at a charger with only a few electrons remaining, assuming that next charger is definitely working. Always plan for the worst. It's definitely an adjustment driving a BEV.

For those that don't want to listen, here are the highlights (prototype DE R version with production level software tested):
Tom split 500 miles into 20% segments. He didn't do a 70 mph range test so he didn't want to list miles gained in charging.
118 kWh usable, doesn't know total capacity.
5 minutes to get first 20% (so 100 miles)
12 minutes to get to 40%
21 minutes to get to 60% - close to the Lucid claim of 300 miles in 20 minutes.

Tom is at Porsche right now and can't work on the charging video so won't have it out until Monday or Tuesday. Lucid has promised him a car to do the 70 mph test soon.

Something interesting he talked about is that at the factory commissioning, the cars were detuned to protect against people going 0 - 100 in 5 seconds on public roads. He did several launches in a P version with production software and said it was definitely faster.

60% of 118kWh = 70.8kWh
70.8kWh in 20 minutes is an average of 202.3kW.
That's pretty impressive for 21 minutes of charging.

283kW average for the first 5 minutes
236kW average for the first 12 minutes

What do you find for level 2 charging at Hotels and other destinations? Is it reliable or do you need to plan on using the level 3 network?
