How long before all GDEs are delivered?

When will the last Gravity DE be delivered to its owner?

1. Big D**K Syndrome. Got to have the baddest ass SUV on the road. Although I like to poke fun at this, I will admit to occasionally falling victim to this disease.
2. Likelihood of getting your car sooner than others (particularly if HUD is priority.)
3. Joy of driving with that extra punch out on the road.
4. Somewhat exclusivity being in a “Special Edition” vehicle, although Bear decals being the only indicator.

For me, it's very simple. Generally speaking, more power means more responsiveness to the throttle. It just makes a vehicle feel more "alive" in your hands, even in mundane driving situations. I just really enjoy that sensation in a car.

Based on all your comments about driving, your username makes absolutely no sense! 😂
I did a lot of racing and instructing in various cars in the past. Ariel, shifter karts, Porsche, GM, and a few off-road vehicles. I try not to be serious and make fun of myself when I can. I appreciate you noticing the logic mismatch.

I remember some of your initial posts that included your some of your racing background.

I always admire those who can make fun of themselves.

but even the GT torque is almost certainly beyond the traction limits of the tires, so there's no real advantage to having more.
Traction limited AWD EVs go 0-60 in about 2 seconds. I suppose the torque curve could drop off well before 60mph but I don't think it would make sense to gear it that way.

This. I’ve written about the GT vs DE Air difference before, as has @hmp10.

@LucidDropkick normally drives a GT, and is currently in a DE loaner and just drove it from the Bay Area to SoCal and back. The difference, to him, was also noticeable. Not all the time, and for him it wasn’t necessarily a *good* change, as the torque was a bit harder on his body, but it was distinctly and noticeably different.

That’s why. It’s not the money. It’s how it drives and the confidence of knowing you have the power if and when you want/need it.

Is it necessary? Of course not. But it isn’t about the money, and I give zero fucks about exclusivity. That’s why my Air is red, not gold.

Interesting. Any more color on what that means?

Just not used to it, I think. He was having a lot of fun, at speeds that were, ahem, not low. :)

But perhaps he can add some color himself!

^ My point was if someone has the money, just get the DE. If the money is make or break, don’t pay more for DE. If someone wants it, they’ll justify it however they need or want.

Isn’t the DE vs GT decision “just” about money?
Not for me, there were only 2 reasons to consider:
- time frame - the DE was supposed to win on this front, but it looks like it doesn't
- range - the GT wins here

In terms of which car I'd get the GT wins outright with no factors that matter to me in the DE's favor.

Non-issues:
- money - I had/have the money, it's not an issue in any shape or form other than I don't want to spend more for things that provide less of what I want
- hp - I don't care (GT has plenty), this is not a plus for me especially because it comes with less of a property (range) that I do care about, more hp is fine if it doesn't come with drawbacks

At one point I switched to a DE hoping it would get me the car faster - in particular before a deadline where I had to get rid of my old car. It already failed on that front (deadline was in March and I had to get another car to tide me over while waiting). And sincer it loses on the range front, I switched back to a GT which is a better car for me at any price.

I would gladly pay more for a GT than a DE because the DE offers less of what I want and the GT offers more of what I want. But, it turns out the GT is not only better, but also cheaper - win/win.

But the DE is less of a car for me. Why would I pay more for less of a car even if I have the money. It's less of a car (for me).

Not everyone cares about hp.

Totally get it, so you can’t justify it and won’t get it. Makes sense.

I think it’s a shame that DE buyers will likely receive cars well after GT/no HUD buyers, but either way, I really hope Lucid actually starts building the Gravity at some scale. I lived my demo drive and would’ve given them my R1S that day if I could.

They’re so constrained they’re taking the same three Gravity cars to each demo drive location, per the studio folks and the folks from CA at the event.

The range in the DE shouldn’t be as bad with the 20/21s on it. I bet it will be 400+, which is pretty amazing.

All about the value and purpose you want it for. If I just wanted a very high performance highway vehicle - absolutely would be the GGT or a cheaper competitor. Money or not, it is a matter of perceived value and how it fits into your personal life equation. I also have very wealthy friends that would not even consider a vehicle more than $50k as its just transportation for a limited time. Life is complex and most of the time your vehicle choices are a spectrum of horrible to wise choices. But in the end, it has to fit for your unique use case - justify to your personal taste.

Original impression of early arrival. HUD, and more horses moved me to the DE. Also 179 write-off, the higher the cost, the more I can write-off (yes, 1st world problems).
I don't want the blank button syndrome with my gas cars. where there's an option I didn't order, so now there's a blank or placeholder button in it's place, telling me everyday that I didn't order this option. I feel like, without the HUD, I'll be constantly thinking about it. Had it in the past, it's not that impressive, but I don't know, I figure Lucid with it's AR implementation will make this the BEST of the BEST (yes, I'm justifying my purchase).

Or not..... :)

Just a nit, but "don't want" isn't the same as "can't justify".

It might seem odd that I'm on this thread, but I came here because I am loosely interested in the scheduling questions that the title explores. While I'm here, I'm just pointing out that your "everyone wants the DE, but they can't get/afford/justify it" slant isn't true. For those who do want/need something it offers, they might have to justify it or be disappointed, but for others of us intrigued by the questions surrounding its existence - we don't necessarily "want" it and the price isn't necessarily a factor in "not wanting it". But, we might be interested in how the company treats those who do want and ordered the DE, how quickly they are satisfying that demand, and what people discover about the models that hasn't already been announced in emails and press.

The range with the 20/21s has already been published. It's nearly 30 miles lower than the equivalent GT model. I am not interested in giving up that range for more hp, badging, or exclusivity. And I certainly won't get it sooner in any case. It's a net loss for my interests and needs, not even taking the price into account.

Good point. There are also a lot of little bits about the DE that are minor and don’t get publicized, most likely.

For example, with the Air DE, the first four years of maintenance are free, but that was never written down anywhere by marketing, if that makes sense. Found it out at my first service.
